coasterdude5 Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Today I made the trek with my fellow fraternity pledges to Six Flags over Georgia. Despite the arctic conditions, it was a great day overall. I've only been to the park once before as a young lad so I wasn't able to ride many of the rides. I knew I had alot to conquer during this trip. Overall the park seemed a little dead to me compared to SFGAm during Fright Fest, but you gotta give the park credit for cleaning up the park so promptly after the recent flooding. Now onto the pictures: You can easily see the waterline. We were told by the ops that the water was about 4 feet deep in the station. It came from the river... I'd say it's moving at about 43.5 mph. Haha it's not Valentines Day! You in? Faded Superman? Really? Next thing you know they'll start letting the coasters' paint fade. They got one here too? Ninja is still closed due to the "weather event". I can see clearly now the tree is gone! Oh I see. Oliath? What dey do wit Goliath? Something tells me there is a Halloween event going on right now. But I wouldn't know. Lampost or Lamp Post? I was unable to ride GA Scorcher. My nuts will thank me later. Bankage! "I like big hills and I cannot lie, these other coasters can't deny..." I would classify this as airtime. They Rollercoaster Tycooned this place up! Pink? This'll do.
coasterdude5 Posted October 18, 2009 Author Posted October 18, 2009 More: Fountain aint got no water! Gotham City The trains look pretty awesome even with the "Got2B Glued" advertisments. I see you slightly-rounder loop... looking all beautiful and such. This was the pleasant surprise of the trip. Mindbender was fast, smooth, and sexy. I'm pretty certain the Bible did not take place in America. I'm pretty sure America was still underwater. Wait has anybody thought why Goliath was placed in the USA section? Photogenic or Overused? AHHH! It's the green support of DOOM!!!!!!! The sky! Alright, does anybody elses feet hurt really bad when they get off this ride? That last bump is a real surprise! I'm sure it'll open later in the day. HA. Yeah that's the name. I like the inclusion of Snickers this year. Those candybars have always seemed very ominous to me. You can pay $10 to see what it's like to be in a coffin or you could just go walk down the street - you get da same result.
jslim39 Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 Sweet pix! I'm honestly VERY surprised they've got mostly everything up and running again after the flooding, especially considering this is Six Flags here, but either way thats a good thing. This is a must go to park for me someday.
Squid Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 But if we have Goliath, what ride is David? (There is a reason why Goliath was placed in the USA section... it has to do with height restrictions placed on the park by the FAA.) Glad you had a good time! Squid
DBru Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Ninja actually was open the two weekends following the flooding, so I'm not sure why it was down for your visit. Glad you seemed to enjoy the park! Too bad you missed out on the Scorcher...it is one of the best coasters in the park.
ebl Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 "Wait has anybody thought why Goliath was placed in the USA section?" (coasterdude5) Because people in the USA are Goliath sized. Nice Photo TR. SFOG is one park I want to visit someday. Eric
coasterdude5 Posted October 21, 2009 Author Posted October 21, 2009 A few more photos from the trip: I'll leave you with this picture... are they rising or falling? I hate that I missed this ride. Apparently it's better than Iron Wolf... That's quite a large sledgehammer. Odd one out of the crowd is... Something's out of place here... That's it! Georgia's queue gives you some great photo ops! 5 is my lucky number! Turns out this Batman didn't knock me around as much as Great America's! Up in the sky... it's it a bird... is it a plane... no... it's Batman!
themeparkman25 Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Falling-there is not "catch car" or whatever it is called. You did miss out on Scorcher though, I really enjoyed the coaster actually. How did you like Goliath?
tanthonyam Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Wow thats alot of people in the Scorcher line!
coasterdude5 Posted October 22, 2009 Author Posted October 22, 2009 ^^ Nice one, I hoped someone would see that. Goliath was excellent. It was my second B&M hyper after Raging Bull. I much prefer airtime hills to Raging Bull's twists and turns.
DBru Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Plus, the seats are tilted downwards, which only occurs after you get to the top.
the ghost Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Does the Georgia Fright Fest have haunted houses? It is weird for me to see a park with scaracters out during the day.
Brad Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 Does the Georgia Fright Fest have haunted houses? It is weird for me to see a park with scaracters out during the day. SFOG has 1 haunted house (Dr. Fright's Frightorium) and The Last Ride that simulates being buried alive. Scare-actors usually make their appearance around 4pm (it gets dark around 7pm).
wiyoh1984 Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Those are some great shots of the park! I can't wait to visit SFOG in March! I'm pretty excited to try out Goliath as it will be my first B&M Hyper.
