ParkTrips Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Not much can keep up with a turbo! I love that car. I'm still trying to convince myself to buy an ///M car. Upkeep costs are holding me back more than anything.
gerd.muller Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I love that car. ... i love it to! call me porschesexual!
Cameron Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I'm still trying to convince myself to buy an ///M car. Upkeep costs are holding me back more than anything. Friend of mine has a 08 331i coupe .. Really kickass car. Cameron.

Cameron. those bmw´s are really little bastards! they look so innocent and handsome from outside, but once you drive one, you need some retalin to come down. i had a M5 in 2002, man, that was like kind of dynamite on wheels.
ParkTrips Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Simply put... Germans make the best cars. End of story!
BeemerBoy Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Simply put... Germans make the best "still reasonably priced" sports cars. End of story! Fixed. Italy still > Germany....although gerd's 997 still kicks all sorts of ass.

Italy still > Germany....although gerd's 997 still kicks all sorts of a$$. thank´s for the compliment. the one problem with the italian cars - especially masserati - is, you have them more often at your dealer´s garage to fix problems at the car´s processing than you have to fill it with gas! it´s really that that a 80,000 euro car like the spider has problems with the air condition or the soft-top after just 2 months and 3500 km and the company can´t fix that. the other problem is: italian cars with the power of a 997 or a M3 are not so confty for everyday-use. f.e.: when i pick up my kids from kindergarten with the porsche, it´s no problem, they fit easily into the safety replacement seats in the back and two bags (or even luggage for a weekend-trip for two people) fit into the trunk in the front. an compareable italian car like the ferarri f 360 won`t give you enough space to do so and it costs nearly double as much as the porsche.
BeemerBoy Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 ^ Yeah, I definitely agree. I was pretty much just messin' with Joe on that one. The 997 is definitely the perfect everyday driver that's still more than suitable to open up on the Autobahn for a little fun. Even owning a Ferrari here in the States is somewhat pointless. In all the major cities where the Ferrari owners are more prevalent, the only real "fun" they can have (besides simply owning an awesome showpiece) is joining a club that rents out private race tracks. When I lived there, I always thought that having an F360 in South Florida traffic would be too frustrating - even worse, the handful of Enzo owners down there. Other than looks, I'd be willing to bet that most of them probably never got their speedometers over 100 on the local interstates late at night. So yeah, as far as functionality in everyday life, Germany > Italy. When you want that top notch toy for the Autobahn or the tracks, Italy > Germany. At least to me, anyway.
ParkTrips Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 hahaha I hit 100 occasionally... I mean... << loves living in a rural area

So yeah, as far as functionality in everyday life, Germany > Italy. When you want that top notch toy for the Autobahn or the tracks, Italy > Germany. At least to me, anyway. that´s a point that i have to agree by 100%!
BeemerBoy Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I found this earlier today, and thought it was pretty cool. Unfortunately they don't have any exotics, but fans of the "Big 3" should appreciate it. I don't usually go for stuff like this, but they actually look pretty good for your gimmicky-type computer mouse.
gerd.muller Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Hey Scott, thanks for posting that ^ ! Just ordered this one, it looks awesome at the picture, can´t wait, ´til it´s shipped, I think that mouse will double the fun while cruisin´the web!!! Gerd.
Speeddeamon128 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 hahaha I hit 100 occasionally... I mean... << loves living in a rural area I topped out a 116 mph on the Atlantic City Expressway in my car & didn't see one cop
Emiroo Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 I'm still trying to convince myself to buy an ///M car. Upkeep costs are holding me back more than anything. Listen to your instinct on that one. I have an 02 325i. And while it's the most amazing car I've ever had the pleasure of driving, the upkeep on it is a real nut-buster. Whatever you're used to paying for repairs on your car, triple that (at least) if you get a Bmer. I haven't had too many problems with mine, but I always get a sick feeling whenever I have to take it in. Thankfully, I also have my handy 02 Accord that runs like a beast for pennies!
ebl Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 ^ Preciseamently why I own a Honda. Easy to take care of, fun to drive, incredibly reliable. Nuff said. Eric
Speeddeamon128 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 ^Don't forget to mention the great gas milage most Hondas get! I wish I had a Honda but I'm happy with my 32 mpg highway Dodge.
ebl Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 ^ I"ve said it here a few times, but because of the way I drive, I've gotten almost 32 mpg overall in the CR-V. Not bad for a vehicle rated at 22 mpg overall by the EPA. (My usual average is about 25-27. The 30-32 comes after a long highway trip.) Eric
gerd.muller Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 That´s why I hate Mondays: This Monday, my wife and me were on the way to the company in my wife´s car. After we dropped off the kids at the Kindergarten, I had to stop at the traffic lights. All of a sudden, a Toyota Corolla, who had to stop at the lights too, began to accelerate, hit a VW Passat first and crashed then frontal in our car. Thanks to god nobody was seriously injured, the Corolla-driver has some broken ribs, as much as I know, the woman in the Passat was just shocked, but not injured, my wife got a light catapult trauma, I only sprained my wrist. Imagine, the Driver in the Corolla (a 19 Year old Student from the local university) was totally drunken, and that at 8.30 a.m.. ... the Riceburner and the Passat were totally scrap. Our car didn´t look very damaged at all for me , it looked like that the only things we need are new lights, a new front-bumper and mudguards, a new bonnet and a little bit of refinishing. To create a report for the insurance-company, the ADAC (comparable to the AAA) towed the car to my Audi-Dealer. ...and then, today, the shock in the morning: Audi gave me a phone-call to tell me that the car is totally scrap: Damaged frame! So, in the picture below you can see a 3 month old piece of expensive scrap. I ordered a new one today, same engine, same equipment but other rims (22 inch with tyres 275/45 R20) and other colours (outside white, inside dark-brown). When I bought the now crashed Q7 last November, I payed about 3200,- Euros ( 4200,- U$) more than I´ll have to pay for the new one (FOR THE SAME CAR!!!!!!), the prices for new cars are falling and falling! The only bad thing is: We´ll have to wait about 5 weeks for delivery... ...very expensive piece of scrap!
Hotlanta Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 That's a lot of damage, at least the good thing is you are okay. And thanks to this stinkbomb of an economy you don't have to pay as much for a new car. Same thing happened to me dad about a year and half ago (almost word to word the same incident, except replace the drunken college student with a drunk security guard) and he had to pay some of his own cash to get a new one.
Speeddeamon128 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 ^^ I'm sorry to here about your accident. At least you & your wife are not severely hurt.
gerd.muller Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 ^ + ^^ Thanks for your replies, guys! Yes, luckily no one was severely hurt. Just came back from the Audi-Dealer, because he gave us a Rental Car as long as it takes until the new one is delivered, and man, that car really kicks a$$: An Audi RS6 5.0 TFSI quattro. Will make a pic and post it later that day.
Cameron Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 When life gives you lemons, you get to drive an RS6 faster than a speeding bullet stuck in the back end of a bat outta hell! (Seriously sorry about your car though .. Glad everyone is OK.) Cameron.
