Airtime&Gravity Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Nice photos, and that fair looks awesome. It really shows how pathetic American fairs, well, at least those in the Chicago area, are. Hopefully I'll one day be able to visit a real fair like that.
Kooky Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 really proffesional pics! i like the kind of way you are get details in pictures! Nice still shots. Nearly all photospots and viewpoints were very impressive or never seen before. You could sell them to ride owners, i think they will be excited ... but sometimes i miss a long shot (Totale) of the rides. i think with some objects in the foreground they will look impressive. And one question.... what kind of camera are you using!?
Rider117 Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I was at this fair on Saturday, the highlight of the trip for me was the Commander by far. Awesome flat! Olympia Looping was a plus too...
ginzo Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Thanks for posting this. Going to a German fair is definitely on my to-do list. Heck, some of the German fairs look better than many permanent amusement parks.
Coasterfan91 Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Beautiful photos! I went there on the same day ("family-day"). Olympia Looping is definitely the highlight on the fair and I'm glad I've got the chance to ride it 3 times
SeaWhippet Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Great shots! Thanks for posting. Do any of you there in Deutschland know when Barth reduced Olympia's train size from seven to five cars? I'm guessing it's to save wear and tear on the aging track but it looks a bit odd to see such a short train. I rode this beauty in Munich when she was brand new along with Wiener Looping, Alpina Bahn and Thriller (in Stuttgart). Amazing machines.
Solid Gold Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Does anyone on here know if Olympia Looping operates anywhere near Cologne in the month of may? Say, within 2 hours of the city?

It's incredible to see those rides are build up within some days. I can only speculate about the train size. At the Oktoberfest in Munich they run every train with 7 cars...maybe it depends on the size of the fair ( about 6 million visitors every year in Munich and about 1 million in Düren ). For it's age - Olympia runs very smooth
