Well I finally got around to scanning some old pics my Mom had pasted in her scrapbooks. Please excuse the photo quality as the books didn't fit easily into the scanner, not to mention the pictures themselves are pushing 30 years old.

Here's some highlights from my trips to Silver Springs and Opryland way back in 1980. I was three years old at the time. Wish I had more but here's what I've got:

Silver Springs

This place is famous for it glass-bottom boat rides. I distinctly remember loving them. But for whatever reason, my parents didn't take a picture of them. You'll see the rest of it though along with the brochure and map.

Me & my sister. Awwww.

Nice Fountain. Cool masonry.

Me & my Dad feeding the deer.

More deer.

For all you goat enthusiasts out there.

I spy a giraffe.

This is a classic Mom taken photo. Main Subject: Back of some guy's head. Also featured: An Ostrich.

Zebras...through the trees!

I can only find 2 animals in this picture. Do you see more?

Finally, it's not Florida without the flamingos.

Opryland USA

Unfortunately, all I have are shots of me in the kids area. But something is better than nothing. Enjoy!

When you're 3 it's fun to be in a padded room.

I conquered the pyramid.

I bet you can't find a kid who doesn't love a ball pit

Looks like the slide attendant is making a face...

On the boat go round.

On the carriage go round.

Opryland sure loved "go round" kiddie rides.

Check out the 1980 state of the art restraint system.

It's a mini giant wheel!

Opryland had the General Mills license in 1980. Here's Frankenberry.

And what better way to end this report than with Count Chocula?

Hope that brought back some memories for you old schoolers out there.

I drive by Silver Springs several times a week, but I have not set foot in the park in over 20 years. Maybe I should go visit and do an update at some point.

Same here. My one and only visit in the early 80's produced no pictures of the boats. Odd. Cool retro stuff though. Thanks for posting!
