- Will you be using custom scenery or just stuff found in the game?

- Are you going for realism?

The Good:

- The theming on the splash boats is good.

- I love the Enterprise building.

The Bad:

- The park lacks atmosphere.

- The B&M doesn't seem realistic. (Ignore this comment if you're going after a fantasy-like feel to the park)

- The splash boat layout doesn't seem realistic either..

Suggestions:

- Add tons of scenery to make the park look nicer. Trees, flowers, and theming go a long way (especially around rides)

- Use a different type of coaster for the B&M. B&M normally doesn't design coasters like that.

- Add a splashdown to the splash boat for a more realistic feel.

- Don't forget to add food stalls and bathrooms.

Overall:

- I can see this park going very far. The lack of scenery is my biggest issue. If you're going for a realistic feel, try looking at pictures of actual rides and designing them based on real ones. If not, the park looks great overall.

Dan - Sorry for sounding too harsh...

KPWoCkAxX- Thanks so much!

netdvn- No you weren't harsh at all. You were more than helpful actually! Now to clear up a couple of questions: I will not be using any type of custom scenery and I'm trying to go for realism...only problem is that I'm totally ignorant when it comes to rollercoasters. I just ride them. I figure I can learn the rollercoaster itself these next few park-makings. Now, with your comment of the B&M...are all my coasters supposed to be B&M?

And with the 'splashdown'...do you mean one huge drop?

Sorry for these seemingly simple questions and comments you have given me, I was just never that interested in rollercoasters beyond riding them until recently.

Thanks so much!

I would suggest checking RCDB( roller coaster data base) for specifics of layouts and everything. And maybe check the park index if your rides are based off any specific coasters(ie batman the ride) Also check parks build by people like DBru, who tend to keep realism their main focus.

Ahh so we have a coaster enthusiast newbie on our hands eh?

To answer your question about the splashdown, a splashdown is generally a pool of water placed at the end of a drop on a water ride, normally used to slow the boat/log/whatever down....

Now I would suggest starting here if you wanna look at real coasters first...

http://www.rcdb.com/

I also recommend using Google/Yahoo/Wikipedia if you wanna find some information regarding coaster design firms/designers themselves.

This is B&M.

Watch POVs (onride videos) or ride actual coasters if you want to get a feel for the layouts.

Lurk around enthusiast message boards (like this one) to gain a bit more knowlege about the industry itself, parks, coasters, and their design companies. Look at other people's RCT parks and learn from those as well.

Hope this helps...

Be sure to have fun!

I'd go direct to the source. The Manufacturer. Wikipedia is not where anyone should go for info.

And don't fall into the "it's not a realistic layout for a {insert manufacturer}." It's your park, your game, and you can build it however you like.

the ghost- Thanks so much for giving me the site. I think I'll be visiting that a lot!

netdvn- As always, thanks for the help! Lots of things I need to learn, but I'm enjoying it tons. Btw, amazing drawings.

mcjaco- I visit wiki and their websites (as well as some others) so do not worry. Thanks for the kind words, I'll definitely be keeping that in mind.

Alright, updates!

The Joker was torn down and King Kobra was constructed in its place. I wanted to see if I liked making coasters after real ones, and I was suprised that I did! There will of course, be my own made coasters (which won't be based off of anything) throughout the park as well.

Ferris Wheel with station. I had this the whole time since I've made the park, but I was unhappy with the first station. I spruced it up a little, but I'm still not satisfied. Opinions are appreciated.

Waterslide redone. I am working on the splashdown right now. The reason it's not just one steep drop is because after that drop there's still a lot of track between the end of the drop and the station. If I was a rider, I'd be very impatient during that time.

A strip of shops. The other side of the pathway there are shops, too.

Before the shops there are jomping fountains.

That's it for now. Comments and critiques appreciated!

Major improvement from last time...

The Good:

- King Kobra is amazing. Were you inspired by the one at King's Island?

- Excellent job redoing the water ride. It looks MUCH better now.

The Bad:

- The building seem a bit... plain.

- I'm not a fan of the tarmac footpaths.

- A bit more scenery is needed.

Suggestions:

- Try to create different buildings and use different walls in your entrance plaza.

- Instead of having those red walls along the footpath, try using flower beds. It looks nicer and adds color to your park.

- Use more cobblestone footpaths and maybe place flowers around them to improve the look of your park.

Overall:

- You're getting there. Use more flowers and more colors and your park will look better. Great job!

I definately agree with netdvn about the buildings being a bit bland, try to use a brighter colour scheme, or make the roofs higher or lower in certain areas. Another thing you could do would be to put railings on the buildings, have small parts coming out of the building like a terrace.

I do think the park looks very good so far, especially since there is no cs. I hope you can continue and hopefully finish the park, good job.

netdvn-Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I was indeed inspired by the one at KI. I think my scenery has improved, but it could probably use more.

Stoksy-I've kept your suggestions in mind and hopefully my park looks better, but if you disagree comment please! Thanks for your compliments, and I plan to finish this park.

TLM- Thanks for your comment, looking forward to see what I can improve on.

Small update:

Buildings are redone.

Ferris wheel and pathway scenery redone. Hopefully for the better. If not, suggest what I can do to improve it.

New coaster! Not inspired by anything, just made at a whim.

I love it.

Splashdown added to Aqua Shaft. I'm iffy about the ride's name, suggestions appreciated.

welcome

Thanks for viewing! Comments & critiques are, as always, welcome.

Much better, the buildings look a whole lot better, well done. The colour scheme looks more realistic.

Park looks great so far, however I'm not really 'feeling' the LIM coaster. Don't know why, maybe it's the colour. Possibly change it to a dark purple, or even dark blue. But that's just me, change it if you want, if not, that's cool.

Posted

I'll tell you whats wrong with the LIM, it has no time to speed up its launch if you look at it from a realistic point of view, try to make a launch section because there's no way any coaster can pull up from 0-100kph in 0.1seconds try making a long flat stright track before you go up vertical it'll look way better I think

Thank you both for your input. The last few days I've been finding it harder and harder for me to create something new, so I decided to work on your suggestions first, and go from there. The buildings, I have changed it to blue and yellow to see how it would look. It looks horrid so I will change them back to black and white. The coaster 'Fizz' had a little bit of a makeover. The colors have changed, and there is now a straight run for the coaster to gain speed. I've added three first aid rooms near the coaster, because of it's extreme rating on Nausea. The intensity is ultra-extreme, while the excitement is low. I'm not too pleased with this, but I will look around to see what can make the coaster more exciting and less intense. Another thing I need to change in my park is the border of the flowers around Fizz. The railings look horrible, so I will change them to brick I think. Next part of the park I'm working on is a garden-like area, with maybe a maze. I'm very unsure of this...as I am with a small water park area. I've created a pool, and it just didn't seem to fit so I took it out. I may just make it into a large lake and have another water ride built in the area. Anyway, I haven't given up on this park at all, I've just slowed down dramatically. Sorry for the inconvenience.

It looks like it might be taking that Cutback too fast (The corkscrew that sends you back the direction you came) What speed is it hitting that? Also It might also be taking that loop too fast and several of the upwards turns are not banked, hitting turns like that at a high speed (and corkscrews for that matter) causes extremely high lateral G ratings and that in turn causes extremely high intensity and nausea ratings. Try to fix those and see what happens. If that does not work can you post a picture of the whole layout? It just seems that the ride is just taking elements too fast.

This park is awsome though, keep up the good work!

Thanks for replying Wild. You've helped a lot with the ride's ratings...I just don't know how to fix a certain problem spot without dramatic changes.

There's the cutback, the loop, twist, and then the hill.

So the train is taking the cutback at 35-40 mph. Way too fast.

It takes the loop 40-45 mph hour. Afterwards, it takes the twist at 35-40 mph. Again, way too fast. It then BARELY makes the hill. I could delete the twist. But then I still have the problem of the cutback, loop, and the hill. I've tried changing the brakes before the cutback to 30. It makes the cutback fine but the uphill afterwards isn't doable. I'd hate to delete the cutback but looks like i'll have to. I'd also have to delete the loop too...easy fixes but It looks very plain without anything for the rest of the track.

Should I just retrack from the problem spot on? :/ I guess it's my call but input helps a lot.

Thanks!!

Posted

I think you could keep the cutback with the brakes but you would have to lower that hill a bit which might not be a bad thing cause it would slow the loop a bit. Also as I said you might want to fix that flat turn but if it is not hitting that at a bad speed you should be fine.

You could also replace the cutback with an upwards or downwards small helix but that would not look quite as good. LIM coasters are very hard to make and I only know this because I spent 5 days making one for a contest, it won but don't be surprised if the intensity stays in the 9's and the exitiment is in the 6's or 7's. It is a game limitation.

I have also found that twists do not really have a speed limit and the loop, 40 mph is a little fast but not too bad. You could also replace the loop with a large upwards helix which would burn off some speed but the ride would still look good.

Thank you so much for helping!! The excitement is in the 7's and the Intensity is in the 10's, which is still high, but I'm really really happy with it! Thank you SO MUCH!! I'll post screenshots of it with my next update!

Good:

- Excellent job on the launcher.

- Major improvements from last time.

- Scenery work is awesome.

Bad:

- Footpaths do seem a bit bare.

Suggestions:

- Maybe add some scenery in the middle of some of the footpaths.

- You could definately add some scenery in the middle of the area with the jumping fountains. And maybe add a real fountain in the middle. It seems a bit bare there.

Overall:

- You're really improving. Keep up the excellent work and you'll go very far with this park.

Your welcome, if you need anymore help feel free to ask, I am good at toning down intensity on coasters. I cannot wait to see the new/renovated coaster! This park is great!

netdvn- thanks for the tips and support!

Wild 1- much thanks!

Another update.

I'm not sure I like what I did in the middle of the jumping fountains. It just doesn't seem right.

The new Fizz. If anyone has any suggestions to make it even better, I'll listen.

New ride. It's a log fume, and it's next to the other water ride.

Overview of the park

Comments & Critiques greatly appreciated!

Looks good, but I think the Fizz is a bit much, perhaps a smaller layout would looks better if you got rid of the bit after the vertical drop, and put a very large banked turn after it, it would be more my style

Anyway, this is just a suggestion, your park, your decisions.

Posted

I agree with Stoksy about Fizz. It seems a bit over done.

However, I really like how the log flume looks! Maybe giving a mine theme or something to help give the mountain a little more scenery. This is all looking nice!

Posted

Stoksy- Thanks for your input. I've put this into consideration and have made a turn after the first drop, but it's not very large. I've tried helixes and such but it refuses to cooperate so just a turn will do. Everything still runs just as smoothly, with the same ratings.

Coaster Cow- Thanks as well. I've finished decorating the logflume, and I am pleased with how it turned out.

The park is being worked on at a very slow pace. My architecture isn't doing very well and the scenery seems to not flow. I've added a few new rides but that won't be released until the next update. If anyone has any suggestions as to flat ride station scenery, feel free to comment. I'll hear them out. My paths are being altered a little, and more shops are being added. My buildings aren't great and I'm trying to search for real buildings for inspirations. I think that may be the biggest thing that is holding me back. Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions at all about anything I'll be glad to hear them! Thanks!
