First, thanks to Robb for allowing us to post the info for this event over here.

MiceChat Proudly Announces The Spring 2009 Gumball Rally

May 30th, 2009 - REGISTER HERE: http://micechat.com/store/

Have you ever wondered if it was possible to ride all of the attractions at Disneyland in a single day? What if you tried to ride all of the attractions in the entire Disneyland Resort? What if we made it a competition and you could win prizes for the most attractions completed in a single day? And what if we assembled it all in an extremely fun and creative way?

The MiceChat Gumball Rally is all that and more.

MiceChat's Gumball Rally is a uniquely fun event that nearly ANYONE can participate in. You don't have to be a Disney nut to compete and do well in this event. You don't need to come to the event knowing any Disney or Theme Park trivia. We don't make you jump through hoops or count the number of bricks on Main Street. Instead, we set you on a course for adventure at the Happiest Place on Earth.

Compete in teams of 2 to 4 people. We have been told over and over again that this is the most fun you can have at the parks. It is the Disney Fan's version of a triathlon. A magical, pixie dusted, bibbidi-boppity, zippedeedodah, mega-Disney experience of a lifetime.

This year, we are holding the event in the late Spring (Saturday, May 30th)- a most beautiful time to be in the parks.

What's this going to cost me???

The registration price is a super-low price of $24.99 per person. This includes the Gumball Rally and the Awards Party on Saturday evening. *Disneyland admission is also required.

There will also be other events that weekend that you are more than welcome to participate in such as a "Carbo-Loading Party" on Friday night to make sure you have enough energy to compete on Saturday.

PLEASE NOTE: The Rally store will require you to sign up for an account. We run the store separate from the site for security reasons. You will not have to register at MiceChat to access the store.

Awards

Awards will be given for 1st - 3rd place, Best Team Logo, Best Team Name, and Spirit of MiceChat Award. The entire MiceChat boards will vote on the Best Team Logo and Best Team Name Awards. We'll announce the details at a later date.

NEW! Practice Rally

IN ADDITION, we are trying something fun and new this year. One month before the Gumball Rally, we'll be holding a FREE Practice Rally at the park on Sunday the 26th of April. Anyone who would like to do a short 4 hour Practice Rally with their teammates or anyone wanting to get a sense of how the Rally works is welcome to attend. We won't tell you exactly what we have in store, but the Practice Rally will be a super fun way to start your training or help you decide if you'd like to enter the full Rally. We'll end the Practice Rally with fun prizes and a little party. All for FREE. We promise to make it a very fun 4 hours!!! * Valid Disneyland Admission is required for the Practice Rally

Start recruiting your teammates and thinking up a great team name. The most fantastic event in Disney Geekdom is headed your next month.

Save the Date

Gumball Rally Weekend - May 29th through 31st, 2009

Gumball Rally FREE Practice - April 26th, 2009

You can check out this thread on MiceChat for more info and a Q&A. http://micechat.com/forums/meets-events-scheduling/111479-micechat-spring-gumball-rally-may-30th-info-save-date.html

You can also email me at sirclinksalot@micechat.com or PM me here with any questions.

You DO NOT have to be a member of MiceChat to compete in this event.

The small, but important print: For your safety and the safety of others, please follow all rules of the park you are in and obey the instructions of cast members at all times. No running, aggressive behavior, pushing, or in any way disrupting the enjoyment of regular park guests will be allowed. Those found cheating or breaking the rules of the event or of the park will have points deducted or will be asked to leave the events. Tickets are non-refundable. Those under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult (21 years or older). All event participants must purchase an event ticket. Gumball Rally event tickets do not include theme park admission. Participation is at your own risk. 10 hours at Disneyland can be a very long time in potentially hot and humid conditions. You MUST take care of yourself. Try to keep cool, drink lots of water, and make sure that the members of your team are safe and healthy at all times. It isn't any fun to get heat stroke or worse! Again, YOU PLAY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I think I saw a TR from one of these a while back. It sounds really awesome. Too bad it wasn't going on (or, at least, I'd never heard of it) when I was living in California.

Good luck with the event, Gregg!

Looks like a great way to spend a day at Disney.

Wish I lived closer. Much closer, lol.

Best Wishes to its being a great success this year, for all involved.

(Edit to add I looooove the trophy! )

This sounds awesome! I'd totally do it!

It's the day before my birthday, and I'm thinking it would be a great way to celebrate, hahaha. I'm going to have to talk some of my friends into doing this with me, hmmm...

For those of you still on the fence about the rally, I created a little video to try and entice you. This is from the "practice rally" held last Sunday.

And for those of you who know him, Al from San Diego (and his kids) actually won the practice rally. It was great to see him again.

We are signed up and coming over for the weekend. In the practice run, were the answers/clues easy to find? We're just doing it for the fun with no aspirations of winning.

^ Yes, they were easy. Some of the actual answers are in the video.

For example:

Question: What color is the canopy when you enter the nursery on Peter Pan.

Answer: Purple and White

Question: How many tunnels are there on Casey Jr. (not counting bridges)

Answer: Three

Question: How many lamp stands are there in the loading area of Haunted Mansion

Answer: Seven

So yeah, all questions are easy to answer. The point is not to "stump" you, but to make sure it's something you can only see by actually riding the ride because the entire point is to "ride" not "answer questions".

(FYI, the questions will be different for each rally, so don't think I gave you any hints ... )

Yes, the questions are super-simple to find the answers for. It's just to confirm that you rode. Many of our winners did just that - they didn't expect to place at all (just wanted to play 'for the fun of it'). They just got into the groove, and their timing was perfect to place.

Also, it's fun to see when a popular attraction goes down in the morning, and the super-planned teams get thrown for a loop when their weeks long plans are ruined.
