TheStig Posted July 10, 2009 Share Posted July 10, 2009 ^Eh close enough. It's called a variometer, and it attaches to a bottle like device via a tube. In gliders, you don't have a source of power so it works by air pressure. It takes longer for the pressure to change in the bottle then it does outside, so the pressure differences tells you how fast, in knots, you are ascending or descending.
