AlexG8462 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Recently, I've been seeing signs in Los Angeles for Grinchmas at Universal Studios Hollywood. I have heard about Grinchmas at the Universal Orlando Resort, but I really never paid any attention to it. Now with this event in Hollywood, I need some details on what Grinchmas is. Here are the main questions I have about this event. 1. Is it like Halloween Horror Nights, where it requires separate admission or is it like Disneyland how the theme park is just Christmas themed? 2. What basically goes on in the Orlando event? 3. In the Orlando event can you use your annual pass or do you need to pay separate admission? I would like to know what the Orlando event is like because I might consider going to the new Hollywood one! P.S. I know it sounds like a question that even a monkey could answer, but since Universal charges separate admission for Halloween Horror Nights and this is something new for Universal Studios Hollywood, I thought to ask for basic details. Thanks!
freestylenut Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Hope U don't get flamed for asking such a basic question (I won't be the one to do it). I'm an AP for the Orlando Universal parks...and I can tell you its a "day" event that is part of your theme park admission. Usually the park would be designed very "Christmassy" and add the How the Grinch Stole Christmas show. My kids LOVE it...but there's really not much else. Definitely go to their site.
Wes Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Yeah, it's a holiday theming overlay with some shows and walk around characters, sort of like how Disneyland adds Christmas theming to portions of the park. It's not a seperate event.
thrillgeek Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 It's where the Grinch comes and try's to stop all the rides from running!
Kalepi_Konei Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 In Orlando they also have this Grinchmas slide which I waited like 30 minutes for when I was 11 for a 3 second ride, the line was just so long because some kids don't know how to sit there but down and slide.
Jew Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Straight from the USH website: Make your Holiday Season a little mischievous and a Whole Lot of Fun with the new Grinchmas at Universal Studios Hollywood. -Meet the Grinch and take your photo for a one-of-a-kind holiday memento -Play in the Grinch’s Winter Playground filled with real snow -See Whoville come to life on the Studio Tour backlot -Family fun activities including holiday cookie decorating -Nightly tree lighting ceremony at the 40-foot Whoville Tree It runs weekends in December until the 22nd, where it runs daily until the end of the year.
Mr. Volcano Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Wow, I didn't know they did Grinchmas at Universal Hollywood? Is this the first year or have I just been out of the loop? Alex, theres about 12 pages of pictures you can check out of the event here if you're interested; I don't know how much different Hollywood's is from the one here in Orlando, but I'm sure its probably the same basic setup besides the fact that Florida's takes place at Suess Landing at Islands of Adventure. -Justin
Jew Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 ^It hasn't been done at USH since 2000. Back then it was inside the building that currently is House of Horrors.
itnotfair Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 My girlfriend wants to go; she loves the movie. Hopefully I'll post some pics soon. On a side note, we watched The Wizard last night. King Kong was the best part of the USH tram ride.
