Coasterkid20 Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 I'm planning a 11 day outing next year and was kinda curious to see what everyone has to say about some coasters: Silver Comet, Martin's Fantasy Island Comet, Great Escape Great White, Morey's Piers J2, Clementon Lightning Racer and Wildcat at Hersheypark Just some that I don't seem to hear to much about, thanks.
CoasterFanatic Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 If J2 is running anywhere near what it was doing at the end of last season, it is definately "not to be missed" Try to get on it late!
CycloneMan Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 The comet is awsome. I'll be in Lake george and Montreal in two weeks. (Go to Montreal as a little road trip from lake George) The Comet is smooth and has excellent airtime!
What Now Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Lightning Racer isn't amazing, but it's a fun ride (from what I've heard, it doesn't compare to any of the newer GCIIs). Wildcat is rough but I love it for some reason.
Canobie Fan Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 TGEs Comet to me is a "top 10" ride. I really love it. Silver Comet.. Seems to be forgot about... I went to MFI opening day this year and was amazed by the ride... Its a really great coaster... If more people got around to going on it I bet it would be a high ranked coaster.
Mind Eraser Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Silver Comet, Martin's Fantasy Island -- don't go out of your way for it. It ran beautifully, but it has a piss-poor layout, imo. Not much air at all, if that's your thing. Comet, Great Escape -- definitely hit Comet! It defines "FUN!" It's similar to Phoenix with a different kind of air. Phoenix can be thigh-bruising; while Comet's is more relaxy, floaty. The Great Escape is a wonderful park anyway. Great White, Morey's Piers -- never a big fan of the middle section. It's a bunch of swervy ramps. Plus, when I last rode, it was HORRIBLY ROUGH. However, since I've ridden it last, it's been retracked by Martin & Vlemincx (the best in the biz). J2, Clementon -- Probably the most extreme a woodie can get nowadays. I had nighttime ERT last year, and I was seriously thinking the train was gonna derail. Outstanding coaster! The rest of Clementon sucks the big one, though. There's a decent flume, a Chaos, an Inverter, a Ferris wheel, and some other small, non-notable rides. I got SO bored at Clementon, even with Tsunami. Lightning Racer and Wildcat at Hersheypark -- I'm not a big LR fan. Mainly because I hate the GCI trains. The lap bars are heavy and they fall into your lap and lock down on you. Ruins any airtime. Wildcat is a beast though. You simply must ride in the front seat. Anywhere else supposedly rattles your fillings. The front has this fantastic type of lateral air. -kip- (Can you tell I love me some airtime? )
SharkTums Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Silver Comet, Martin's Fantasy Island - Really great! Totally surprised by this one. It was smooth, had great air, and great laterals! Comet, Great Escape - Don't know, I've heard good things. Great White, Morey's Piers - Another ride that I was surprised by. It was by no means 'smooth' but it was a quick airtime filled ride. J2, Clementon - Don't know, heard that it is scary good. Lightning Racer and Wildcat at Hersheypark - I pretty much hate both of those. Standard GCI gracefulness, not many forces. Ozark Wildcat and Thunderhead are much better GCI's. Also Wildcat has become quite brutal. Elissa "not the biggest GCI fan" Alvey
Coasterkid20 Posted July 18, 2005 Author Posted July 18, 2005 I agree Elissa, I'm not a huge GCI fan, I love Ozark Wildcat, in my top ten, but as for Thunderhead I was all "So what", which I'm afraid that is what my reaction to the Hersheypark woodies will be.......
