CoasterEricHP Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Howdy. I was at Knoebels today (TR as soon as I get my camera charged and get the pictures off) and where Whirlwind used to be there's some support work and a sign saying... blah blah "Vintage Looping Coaster". I'll post pictures of the construction site later. Anyone have an idea of what that is? The supports looked almost like a "Zyklon" type coaster. Very thin metal. I wasnt aware they could loop Eric
CoasterFanatic Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 It is a Herschell flat ride. They are currently in the process of refurbing it. Go to the bottom of the TR for a picture: http://capital2.capital.edu/admin-staff/dalthoff/v99/enchvill.html

I had no idea this was announced or figured out somewhere along the line! Thanks! Eric
pgathriller Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Zyklons can loop. There made by Pinfari and there called Pinfari Looping Coasters. They suck though.
nemesis-storm Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 There was rumours at one point, that they would be getting Bullet or Magnum Force from Flamingoland. Maybe these rumours are coming true
Mind Eraser Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Zyklons can loop. There made by Pinfari and there called Pinfari Looping Coasters. They suck though. Two things: 1. The official name for the looping Pinfari's are "Zyklon Loop 42" or "ZL42" for short. 2. Why do you think they suck? I love them! They've got a neat layout, a killer drop, and a wicked loop. They are rough, but only in the front (for some odd reason). I really like the one in Ocean City, MD. The only other one I've ridden was Klondike Mine at Drayton Manor, which has been since relocated to another UK park. Python in Ocean City, NJ was closed when I stopped by. -kip-
robbalvey Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 So wait...Knoebel's is getting a Squirell Cages ride??? I'm baffled how there doesn't seem to be many of these left in the US, but they were all over Japan! --Robb
socalMAN123 Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 I'm so confused at to which picture Ted was telling us to look at. Geez, I'm so stupid. ---Brent 8)
CoasterFanatic Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Knoebels isn't getting a Chance "Rock and roll" or whatever they call them. They are getting the REAL DEAL. An original Herschell looper. These things are rarer than straight ACE members over 40! I can't wait. Herschell Looper - From Dave Althoff's Site
CoasterEricHP Posted July 15, 2005 Author Posted July 15, 2005 Here are the pictures from my TR... I honestly couldnt tell ya. The site looks big enough for a Pinfari coaster, or maybe Squirrel Cages and something else. Beats me! Didn't Moreys just tear down a small steel coaster a year or two ago? But then again.. you think they would put "coaster" on the sign instead of "ride" to hype it up a little. Eric "who thinks they would replace a coaster with a coaster" Geiple Supports? I think a ride like this would be a perfect fit for Knoebels. Photo: RCDB.com
CoasterFanatic Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 ^ It will definately be a looper. I have seen the parts in person and talked to John and Dick. // nobody believes me
DenDen Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 I've only seen these squirrel cages once, at a carnival in Pittsburgh (Station Square) back in the early 80's. Didn't get to ride it, wish I did. Heck, WestView didn't even have one of these, and they had some FREAKY rides back in the 70's. Kennywood did have them WAY BACK.... (before my time). It's wierd how classic rides are making a comeback here in the states for new generations, by new manufacturers... Rock-n-Roll (these cages) The original Flying Coaster (Kangaroo) Paratroopers Round Ups and so much more...
Canobie Fan Posted July 16, 2005 Posted July 16, 2005 OK....LOOPER IS THE RIDES NAME!!! NOT A ROLLERCOASTER! /slap The ride also goes by "Rock N Roll" and the one the park has now is the one I use to ride every summer at Whalom! (the not so ghetto park TPE thinks was ghetto)
