I'm planning on going to SFGA this summer and I would like to know when is the best time to go? Example: Month, Day of the Week, etc. Also tell me the rides I should definitely not miss and when to ride 'em. Any other information is graciously accepted. Thanks.

PS I will put up a PTR after I get back or even when I'm there if possible.

I went the second week of June and it was pretty packed with kinds on school trips and whatnot. I'd say try going in the middle of the week. I went on a Friday, Monday, and Wednesday, and they were all somewhat crowded. The thing is, though, the waterpark was closed, so I'm sure that when you go school trips will be about over and the waterpark will be open, so the park crowds won't be as dense. If you plan on going multiple days, I suggest buying a season pass. It pays for itself in a couple visits, and you get a "Bring a Friend Free" coupon.

As for rides, definitely ride:

Nitro

El Toro

Kingda Ka

Batman: The Ride

Medusa

Superman: Ultimate Flight

Great American Scream Machine

Dark Knight

Skull Mountain in the back seat.

I really enjoyed their Log Flume, it was long and fun.

The Skyway really comes in handy also when you want to get from one end of the park to the other.

If you are going all that way I highly recommend getting a Gold Qbot. It will make your visit a lot better.

What's a Gold Qbot? Is it like a fast pass?

Yes, but instead of just holding your place in line, it cuts the wait by more than half.

El Toro - BACKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!

Kingda Ka - Front

Rolling Thunder - 2nd Row

Medusa - Back

Skull Mountain - Back

Nitro - Back or Front, both good

Batman - Back

GASM - Front

The rest truthfully doesn't matter which row you sit in. You will still have a enjoyable ride.

^That's a good idea if you want to get the full experience of each coaster... but I feel that on some if you sit smack in the middle, you get the best of both worlds... it depends on the intensity you want. Also, if you want to ride on the front or back row for some of the more popular ones... expect there to be a long wait, because they fill up really quickly. So if you want to do both front/back row, decide on which you'll do first in the morning. For example, if you do the front row in the morning, do the back in the evening, and vice versa. (If you are really feeling like switching things up, just do one in the front and then one in the back). It is rare for SFGADV to be less than full because of the proximity of the park to the nearby cities (not to mention the somewhat decreasing economy). So get the early, (before opening) and have a good plan of attack as to which coaster you tackle first... when I went back in 2006, my friends and I did the coasters in this fashion: Nitro (when the park first opens, guaranteed front row or back row), El Toro (near front is a good possibility), Kingda Ka (by this time there is a two hour wait... imo, it's not really worth to wait that long... so either tackle that first or later in the day, Medusa, Skull Mountain (the others ones were already well filled by then... so as long as you plan your time out, you should be fine! Have fun if/when you do go!

I almost 100% agree with you on that, but GASM i feel is way better in the back.

I'll also add that I personally like S:UF more in the back, I wish i could ay that you need to ride a flat ride or two, but unforntunately, there really aren't any.

Also, a major tip, don't bring anything that could be a "loose article" into the park, either you have to pay a dollar for each ride you go on, or get harassed by the ride ops for not putting it in a locker (fortunately i've never been yelled at, but I hear it alot, especially on S:UF)

I definitely agree on that one... my friend learned the hard way when she stored her stuffed animal arcade prizes on the ride platform... needless to say she didn't get them back. As the saying goes: "If you can't put them in your pocket, don't bring them." And a pair of cargo shorts are lifesavers!

I always go to parks with cargos. It will probably be pants rather than shorts but whatever. What days are usually the best to go on. I mean the days of the week.
