Reon Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Right now, me and my friend Doug Trovinger are planning a post graduation midwest trip. So far our plan is as follows: Day 1: Kings Island Day 2: SFKK and Holiday World Day 3: SF St. Louis Day 4: SF Great America Day 5-6: CP After going over our plans, we discovered that St Louis will not be open on May 13th (The day we had planned on visiting). Now I have a question. Keeping in mind we are working with Platinum and SF passes, what park can we hit on that now blank day? Also, any other insight would be greatly appreciated. -Jared
Scaparri Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Go to Indiana Beach. Yeah, I know you can't use a CF or SF season pass, but I would think the gas you'd save from not driving to St. Louis would cover it. It's about 20-30 minutes off I-65, which is what you'd want to hop on in Louisville to ride all the way up to the southside of Chicago. That's my suggestion.
Carnage Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Well if you HAVE to use the CF pass, then Michigain Adventure would be in that area. But Indiana Beach would definetly be the better choice. Michigain Adventure is kind of a dull park to be honest.
mcjaco Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 I'll third the suggestion for Indiana Beach. You'll have to take I 65 to get up to Chicago anyway. Give yourself extra time to get through Chicago. The Dan Ryan (94 on the southside) is under construction, the 294 tollway is under construction, and the Edens Expressway (94 north of the city) is under construction. Basically, every major expressway around and through the city.
larrygator Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 another vote for Indiana Beach, it is worth the extra money
Reon Posted April 26, 2008 Author Posted April 26, 2008 Thanks for the unanimous decisions. However, it looks like we'll be flipping this trip around now. Now its becoming an eastern trip of: Day 1: SFKK, KI (11th) Day 2,3: CP (12th-13th) Day 4: KW (14th) Day 5: SFGAdv (15th) Day 6: Dorney (16th) Any thoughts or suggestions?
SharkTums Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 Do you need all your credits at SFKK and KI? I don't think that would be possible in one day.
Reon Posted April 26, 2008 Author Posted April 26, 2008 I have all the credits allready, but Doug doesn't. If worse comes to worse, we can spill over a bit of KI into the first CP day...
Hercules Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 KW as in Kennywood? And then Great Adventure the next day? I really hope that is not the case. First, there is a bunch of stuff in the middle that you would be missing like Hershey and Knoebels. Plus, have you Mapquested the trip from Pittsburgh to Jackson, NJ? If anything, you should add at least a day in there to hit up a central PA park, or call a travel day or something.
Reon Posted April 26, 2008 Author Posted April 26, 2008 We plan on hitting Hershey later this year when Farenheight is open, but good point with Knoebles. How long do you think it would take to hit everything at Kennywood?
307 Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 We plan on hitting Hershey later this year when Farenheight is open, but good point with Knoebles. How long do you think it would take to hit everything at Kennywood? It took us about six hours on our first trip, not including re-rides, but we went on quite a busy day. Our second trip, when we met up with TPR, it would've taken a lot longer had we chosen to get credits on everything. It was absolutely packed. Have you done the driving distances between these places? You're really cutting it close. According to GoogleMaps: SFKK -> KI = 2hrs KI -> CP = 4hrs CP -> KW = 3.5hrs KW -> SFGAdv = 5.5hrs SFGAdv -> Dorney = 2hrs It's going to be very difficult to follow that flight plan unless you plan on driving throughout the night... if so, well, okay then.
Reon Posted May 8, 2008 Author Posted May 8, 2008 I have a new question: for economic-sake, are there any ways around the $15 parking at any of the SF parks we're visiting? IE the fairgrounds next to SFKK...
SharkTums Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 How many SF parks are you all going to? Would it pay for one of you to put parking on your pass? Parking is good at ALL SF Parks.
Reon Posted May 8, 2008 Author Posted May 8, 2008 As of right now, just KK and Great Adventure. I guess it's not as bad as I thought, but it would still be nice to know for later. How much does adding parking cost?
