silver0x3 Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Hi We’re going to go to Sandusky this summer. We stay for 2 nights in the Breakers Express. We arrive at June 15th at Cedar Point and stay in the park at the 16th and 17th. We go by car and we are 3. Now my question is would you go with the package or only book the room. Package includes: 2 one-day Cedar Point tickets, 2 Starlight Cedar Point tickets, 8 Express breakfast coupons, 2 Soak City coupons(buy one ticket get one free/valid after May 23). and a Cedar Point parking voucher. Please note: Cedar Point parking toll is non-refundable at the front desk. The rate is 270$ with the package or 188$ without it...
SharkTums Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 In my past experiences a lot of times the Cedar Point Packages are NOT the best deal. You have to figure out if the package gives you what you want. -Do you eat Breakfast? The Breakers Express breakfast is not that great. -You can get coupons for the waterpark anywhere, don't pay a premium for them. -Do you need another days admission for CP or were you only planning on going one night/one day?
larrygator Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 So you are paying an extra $82 for 2 single day admission tickets, 2 Starlight passes and Breakfast. If you are only going to the park for one full day and the nighttime then it will save you money. However, as Elissa points out if you are going to spend 2 full days in the park (meaning you have to buy tickets for one day) and not use the Starlight Passes then it is not a great deal.
Carnage Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 So you are paying an extra $82 for 2 single day admission tickets, 2 Starlight passes and Breakfast.. And parking. The package is kind of misleading, but the parking voucher covers the cost of parking. So that's another $20-$30 value. But as Larry and Elissa mentioned, it's just a matter of figure out if the cost saving's are worth it. Figure out how much you'll have to spend with and without the package, then go with the cheaper option.
larrygator Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 ^true - but if I was staying at Breakers Express I would just take the shuttle versus the hassle of moving my car. That is, if there was a shuttle
Carnage Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 There is no shuttle from BE though. Unless you want to cab it over, but that would cost money.
larrygator Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 ^oh yeah - I know that! I just just testing to see if anyone was reading besides you.
silver0x3 Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 ok we are 3 people, we need the cedarpoint parking and we stay 2 nigths in the hotel and 2 days in the park. so we need 2x3 day tickets, 2x the parking and the breakfast is not necessary but if it's included it's ok. :o) now we would spend 6 * 42.95$ (one day ticket) 2 * 10$ (Daily Parking) total 277.70 $ and with the package 181.80$ so we would save like 95.90 $ but i've still one question, does someone know how much the price for the discounted ticket is offerd from the hotel?? One Hour Early Entry and Discounted Tickets to Cedar Point available with this Breakers Express non-smoking room
Teacups Make Me Sick Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 If you call up the hotel directly, they will b able to give you the price from what I remember, they were about 5-10 bucks cheaper then the front gate and you can still go into the park early. The problem with the hotel package is that you are only paying for 2 people to go in a day and a half (the starlight package). I dont like water parks and why on earth would they give you 8 breakfast coupons and two tickets for the park. All-in-all, buying the tickets for the two days within the hotel was much cheaper then going the package deal. Unless you want to do the waterpark...then it would make sense to go that route.
Carnage Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 but i've still one question, does someone know how much the price for the discounted ticket is offerd from the hotel?? $32 I think. (or something like that). I believe the price at the hotels is the same as the discount you can get in the free getaway guide. (maybe $1 or $2 cheaper). But the real advantage is being able to get the tickets quickly at the front desk, instead of waiting in line at the park.
spaceace12 Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Wait, it is cheaper to get into CP than Holiday World?
Scaparri Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 ^If you stay in one of the CP hotels, then yes. Either way though, the normal price is only $42.95. The free drinks are definitely nice, but I don't really find Holiday World to be that good of a deal anymore.
spaceace12 Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 It is when you live close. Wow, I didn't realize that CP was that cheap with discounted tickets, I know Coaster Mania tickets are 34.
cedarpointfangirl Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 I guess it really depends on who you take an who's paying for what. This last July I took my cousin with me. We stayed at BE for 3 nights. We hit the park for the first night with the two starlight tickets which were like 25 bucks a pop at the gate. Since I paid for the hotel I used the last two full day tickets and she got her two day ticket which was discounted( can't remember cost). The parking pass was great, it is dated for you entire hotel stay, you just put it on your dashboard and when you go to park they just pass you thru gate. Thats a 30 dollar value just to park. We utilized a few of the food coupons but really just ended up eating early lunch at park. The hour access early in the park was a great perk. We went straight to Maverick, cut our wait time to like 30 minutes when the line grew to about 2 hrs or so later.
