rllrcster Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 After the awesome OMD shows of 2007 comes this news! Go Here! NYC Confirmed, more to be announced...
twistedmickey Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I am waiting for the Smiths to reunite.
rllrcster Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 ^ Contrary to what they say... Stranger Things Have NOT Happened. But I'll be right there with ya! Every year around announcement time for Coachella you can count on reunion rumors for The Smiths. It ain't gonna happen. If it does, I'll buy your ticket! Anywho... the Yazoo Reunion HAS been confirmed! Here's the details
brilinjo Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Won't it be a shortish concert? 3 x Yazoo songs + 3 Alison Moyet songs = 20 minutes max?
terrancew_hod Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 ^ Personally, I'm waiting for a few R&B reunions: * Shalamar (Jody Watley and Howard Hewitt would scratch each other's eyes out) * Vanity 6 - Heck have Apollonia show up and make it 12... same price. * Jade: Obscure, but those girls had a few hits out before they got stupid and tried to go solo... no album got released from any of them. I'm sure they could pull themselves away from their desk jobs to come on in. * Prince and The Revolution - I want a full album with Wendy and Lisa! That was Prince's hayday. Terry P.S. My roommate in college drove me up the wall with Yazoo; so I used to send him running with Run DMC, La-Trimm and Oaktown 3-5-7. "We like the cars, the cars that go BOOM..."
twistedmickey Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I love Shalamar! I am holding you to those Smith tickets. Other bands that should reunite: ABBA Journey with Steve Perry

mcjaco Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Where's the Thompson Twins reunion? Or El Debarge? Or the Jets? C'mon, I need some eighties reunion tours!
rllrcster Posted January 22, 2008 Author Posted January 22, 2008 I love Shalamar! I am holding you to those Smiths tickets. Other bands that should reunite: ABBA Journey with Steve Perry Well, no Smiths for you this year! Coachella 2008 ABBA, Original Journey, Thompson Twins, and Prince and the Revolution would all be fab and I would definitely be there.
BeemerBoy Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Well, no Smiths for you this year! The year is young, my friend. I'm always holding out hope, because time heals all wounds. A huge concert deal may also eventually help these nits to put aside their differences and give the people what they want. Keep hope alive!
terrancew_hod Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Where's the Thompson Twins reunion? Or El Debarge? Or the Jets? C'mon, I need some eighties reunion tours! El Needs the rest of the family to stop singing gospel. The Jets had an album release a few years ago; didn't do anything though. It would be worth seeing them. Didn't the Stray Cats have something a while back too? But we definitely need some 80's reunion tours! Joan Jett needs some company out on the road and these disco reunion tours are played out! Have you seen some of these people lately? They're about to bring their walkers out on stage! (I did see Cindy Lauper and Donna Summer on the gay circuit last year. You know that's the 'last bastion' for some of these artists. I saw Jody Watley and Martha Wash from the Weather Girls too. Cindy sang all dance remixes though, I was mad she didn't do "Time After Time") Terry
pagemaster_b Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 "We like the cars, the cars that go BOOM..." These days, you have to be careful where you say that. Downtown Bagdad is probably not the best place in the world. Of course, since I'm a Combat Engineer in the Army, I do like blowing things up--including cars. Miles, I didn't know that OMD had a reunion tour. Then again, I did spend half of 2007 in Afghanistan. Did you go and was it any good? I liked some of their music when I was a kid. I remember going to a Jets concert when the came to the Oregon State Fair one year. Honestly, the only song I can remember by them is the Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers theme song. How pathetic is that?
brilinjo Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 What about a Milli Vanilli reunion? must be a very short cd
terrancew_hod Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 ^Won't happen unless someone wants to dig up a body and roll that casket out on stage. But I think the real singers are playing a pub somewhere. "We like the cars, the cars that go BOOM..." These days, you have to be careful where you say that. Downtown Bagdad is probably not the best place in the world. That would put a good spin on the music video. Plus the girls that did that "rap" song, L'Trimm, probably needs to wear all that black to cover up their old shapes. I still wonder to this day how they got THREE albums. They must have good...err.. talents that weren't realized on vinyl. Terry P.S. I had to find a clip at Amazon and that concept would work. "He turned a little button and the car went BOOM." I should work in the entertainment industry!
BeemerBoy Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 ^ Ah yes, the Miami bass days. Don't forget The Gucci Crew II, the Poison Clan, or Jam Pony Express....comin' to you live out of Fort Lauderdale!
bigstevet07 Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Someone mentioned Original Journey. Didn't Steve Perry have something wrong with his throat and can't sing anymore? Maybe thats just rumor. Terrance, Joan Jett is touring again. She played a casino here last summer. I didn't see her performance, but it was an outdoor concert and could hear where I was, and she was still good. They need to bring back Ready For the World. They should tour with Earth, Wind, and Fire. Ooh, and Terrence Trent D'arby can open for them. That would be an awesome show. My personal wish is for someone to have an 80's hip hop show. Big Daddy Kane, Eric B and Rakim, Chubb Rock, Heavy D, Public Enemy, Slick Rick And Doug E Fresh, and many more. That would be the best. That was when hip hop was good. It sucks now. Edit-I had to add Slcik Rick and Doug E Fresh... Can't have an 80's hip hop show without The Show being performed... Is Slick Rick still in jail?
rllrcster Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 Miles, I didn't know that OMD had a reunion tour. Then again, I did spend half of 2007 in Afghanistan. Did you go and was it any good? I liked some of their music when I was a kid. Brian, OMD were AWESOME! The first half of the show was Architecture & Morality in entirety, second half was a very generous greatest hits. If you go to YouTube and search OMD Live, you will get a ton of camera phone clips, some really good ones too. Interestingly enough, the DVD was just announced yesterday. Here was the set list: ARCHITECTURE & MORALITY/SEALAND/THE NEW STONE AGE/GEORGIA SHE'S LEAVING/SOUVENIR/JOAN OF ARC/JOAN OF ARC (MAID OF ORLEANS)/THE BEGINNING AND THE END/MESSAGES/TESLA GIRLS FOREVER (LIVE and DIE)/IF YOU LEAVE/PANDORA'S BOX TALKING LOUD & CLEAR/SO IN LOVE/LOCOMOTION/SAILING ON THE SEVEN SEAS/ENOLA GAY/WALKING ON THE MILKY WAY/ELECTRICITY ROMANCE OF THE TELESCOPE
mcjaco Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 The Jets had an album release a few years ago; didn't do anything though. It would be worth seeing them. Terry I'm just impressed someone remembers the Jets. Matt "Still has that tape laying around somewhere" Jacobs
DenDen Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 * Prince and The Revolution - I want a full album with Wendy and Lisa! That was Prince's hayday. Terry DUDE, I so love you! Finally, someone that feels the same way about Prince as I do! Shame that Wendy and Lisa only had 1 "hit", I really liked them.
terrancew_hod Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 ^I have three of Wendy and Lisa's albums. The first two were really good, and the third had a few good songs as well. Their second album actually got more R&B airplay... I remember them performing on Soul Train with Wendy's twin sister, who actually sang on "Sign O the Times" and was part of "The Family" (another really good Prince-produced album... it features the song "Nothing Compares 2 U" which had so many remakes). Wendy and Lisa had a fourth album, "Girl Bros" where they had Lisa singing most of the songs... big mistake. I do have one track from that album which was decent. Of course if you watch 'Heroes' you'll hear them as they are the music composers for the series. There was a slight reunion with Prince on his last album, "Planet Earth" and you can kind of hear a taste of the old Prince, but not enough to satisfy me. Terry
DenDen Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 ^ This is so weird, as I was watching youtube last week, I ran into old Wendy and Lisa videos. Ahh, the memories! And I had no idea that W&L were doing the music for Heros! I think that's awesome!
cosmic hearse Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I'm obviously super late but I CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED OMD AGAIN! Where did they play? I remember they played at The Grove in Anaheim in 2000 or 2001 and I couldn't get the day off of work. Oh and another band that desperately needs to re-unite is Oingo Boingo. That would be the same level of excitement as The Smiths re-uniting for me. Oh and Cocteau Twins as well!
rllrcster Posted February 26, 2008 Author Posted February 26, 2008 Hi Cosmic, I actually traveled over to the UK to see OMD last summer. They might come over here to the USA later in 08 or more likely next year in 09. They keep their website very much up to date... take a look. OMD I thought the Cocteau Twins did a reunion tour?
cosmic hearse Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 Nope, no such luck on the Cocteau Twins reunion. They were scheduled to headline Coachella 2 years ago I think, the year that Bauhaus reunited for Coachella too. A few weeks before the festival Elizabeth and the guys decided to cancel because they hadn't gotten together to rehearse yet and they weren't going to have enough time. I was so disappointed! I got to see her the next year when she came out and sang a few songs with Massive Attack. I'll be keeping an eye out on the OMD site in hopes to see a U.S tour.
