coasterboy25
You can do what i did when i started with coasters some 10 years ago, just read up the lingo on some sites and books. Â And for the question before about weight and size, since there not using seat belts it sounds like or looks like , then she may be able to fit but who knows how far the lap bar will have to go down. I remember back in the day when my dad used to not fit in the cyclone trains but then they changed them from the casket seats to the open trains and he was able to fit with ease. Â AlsoI wonder if they will come back after its all said and done to check up on the coaster to see if there going to have to add mid breaks and what not. I hope they just let it go. Otherwise we will have a Mean Streak.
lorddoonga
Seriously people, leave the construction crews, kemah employees and designers alone, they will just in turn take this annoyance and hold it against groups and whatnot. Let them do their jobs and get the ride open, then try to talk to them.  These are people that are definitely in the business and know what to expect. They do not mind any concerns of the public and provide information on how to contact them. I don't think they flinch at anyone inquiry.

And those people that you don't think "flinch" are currently being polite.
coaster1
^ THANK YOU .. finally someone understands why bugging even a lowly cement truck operator is a bad idea .. you don't want them taking a grudge against you or any organization. Â Trust me .. parks and places read these boards, so just stop bitching and let them open the damn ride, they've already had a hard enough time with the crappy weather to be bugged by cry-babies. lorddoonga
/\ ... So if I understand it right, each time there was a test run (excluding the first one) there was re-construction work done to the track? It was reported yesterday they were pulling up to 20 ft of track and replacing it , that means possibly they could be ready to test run it again today, if they've finished up. Anyone heading out there today? I bet its gonna sail right over third hill this time... ; )
fmulder21
I'm headed out there before 12. Probably won't see anything but who knows.
fmulder21
Nothing new, Some work continues by the bay...If i'm not mistaken i saw men OILING the track. The first train is no longer in sight(back on track i assume.) Testing should begin any day/hour(Unless they decide to readjust other track.) Â They did another test between noon and 2pm. I was not there but talking to some witnesses I have gathered that the train stalled somewhere around the back. They were able to push the train over several small hills and the construction crew clapped when they realized it would make it back to the bay. Currently both trains are back at the bay- Â They are currently working on the track at the same place that I showed in the pic yesterday. Â Sorry I dont have more info, Im currently posting from my car computer so Im unable to post pics of the areas mentioned...
ErinBrookeTX
That's GREAT news! How exciting! I might try to squeeze an hour down there this weekend and see if I can watch the testing going on from a distance. I will make sure I do not disturb them if I do go. Â Sorry I dont have more info, Im currently posting from my car computer so Im unable to post pics of the areas mentioned... Â That's right Guru. I arrived around 2:15 p.m. and headed down the street (numbered ave.) to have a look near the bay. This is the photo I took (photo 2). You can barely see Bullet there adjacent the 3rd hill on a smaller hill where it was "anti-roll back" stopped. A couple of workers were standing doing repairs on the track. When I went around Bullet and to the opposite side at the other far end, I heard the crew clapping and cheering... and I could hear the train whooshing through the structure. I ran back around to the front entrance on the street and saw that the train was being held at the very beginning of the entrance to the station on its last spin around the structure approaching the station. That's what photo 1 is barely. It was every bit of 100 degrees out there and probably more. One worker told me that the next test run would be tomorrow. I was hoping it was going to test again before I left. But it didn't look like it was going too. Maybe later tonite though...??? Bullet successfully arrives at station. Bullet valley'd on smaller hill adjacent 3rd hill.

I'm hoping that's what the crew was cheering about : \ Salt Grass Junction and Bullet entrance intersect. Boardwalk
coasterphotos
As far as I am aware, they are only running 1 of the 2 trains. If they are running 2 trains, one of the trains is missing one of it's cars. Â From what I can see, there is one train on the brake run before the station, nothing in the station, and nothing on the transfer track. Â A couple different designs of t-shirts are now available in the Saltgrass Junction store. As of this evening, they have sold 1. Pretty sure I don't have to say who bought it . Â Lots of times workers and other people involved with the park and ride are more than happy to talk. I'll usually let them start the conversation instead of me going and bugging them though. Â Sending frequent emails, making frequent phone calls and seeking them out while they are trying to work will tend to get you remembered...and most of the time not in a good way. I've seen many examples of this over the years.
lorddoonga
Even the Kemah police were driving by checking in on the progress. One stopped a worker and started asking questions. I could hear them from the lightpost at 4th and Kippling. The worker turns around says out loud "next weekend ready to go (thumbs up)!" Hooraaaaaaaaaay ! ErinBrookeTX
Cool! When I was there last weekend they had some merchandise but no t-shirts. Do they have any hats? Is it similar logo/design on the keychains and stuff?   As far as I am aware, they are only running 1 of the 2 trains. coasterphotos
No hats that I saw. They have two different designs of shirts. One was mostly text on the back and the other had a logo (which I bought). They are available in a few different colors. Front of shirt.
