  1. Hey thats an awesome post and in the little time you had, you got a lot done. Just next time you go, I am not sure if you had one this time or not but you have to get a pink thing (its like the most amazing thing ever) Anyways, awesome post.
  2. I thought the same thing when I saw the colors and the fact it's over buildings. It reminds me of "rollercoaster" at nyny casino or whatever it is called now days. But I know universal would not let us down like that or would they?
  3. I have a question: Does anyone know how much it costs to do the fire effect? like do they use gas every time to do it, that just seems like it would cost a lot with gas prices the way they are. I mean on a slow day, will they be wasting the fire effect? Im just wondering
  4. So I was there, the day of the shooting. I really like how the video came out, even though I can only see myself like 3 times in the whole shoot but hey its all good. I thought we rode it more then 17 times, but then again I was not really counting, I just wanted to keep riding. Honestly Folks, if you have a like a weekend, come down to Texas, drive over to the Kemah Boardwalk , buy yourself some delicious food, get an all day pass and ride (I would have to say the best wooden coaster in Texas, i mean it beats Rattler and well the Giant hurts) anyways ride the best wooden coaster...you wont regret this wild ride, i can not say enough about it. I sound like a commercial. Anyways we should just have an all day ride marathon? who's with me?
  5. can you ask him why it took so long for them to add jason, leatherface and freddy when these three icons have been around for many years. Why bring them out now , i guess is the question, instead of before or later. Im not really sure how to word the question, so yeah.
  6. So i went last night and rode twice. Now the first one was just like during the day where it was wild and smooth but the second trp is the one that i will remember for a while. Im not sure if the track was wet still from the rain earlier in the day or perhaps it was that fact that the train was almost empty but it went super fast, I never even heard it click on the turns because we brushed by so fast. Again we were going alot faster it seemed then normal, i say this because at two points of the ride i could see the middl of the train pop up like it wanted off the track. I dont remember it doing that before, infact i think i may have gotten like a few more seconds of airtime as well...so what im saying??? Basically ride the coaster with no one on it and then you will see just how wild this thing is, it moved from my top 6 coaster to my 3rd favorite in one night, sorry i still like MF and X over it.
  7. are people really complaining because there doing what you have to do at every major theme park, get off the ride and walk back through the station, even if there is no line? why are we trying to find things wrong with the coaster, let the stupid news deal with that. Just enjoy it because its the only coaster we got for almost 300 miles. If you complain then it will only lead to more rules being enforced and who knows they could go crazy and add mid brakes like crazy so please for the coasters sake , just ride and enjoy. as for the people living near by, i know they did not always have peace, think about all the cars coming to and from Kemah, think about the boats, add concerts, fireworks, noise period...besides eventually you get used to the noise, how else do people live near airports or for that matter other theme parks, you deal with it and move on.
  8. Hey, so i rode it twice yesterday on my way to Galveston. I guess i caught it at a good time because it seemed fast and smooth for me, i rode once in back and once in the front, still not sure which ride i liked better...but i did like the airtime. I especially like how this coaster is not like other wooden coasters i have been on where it uses the force of the first drop to go up another large hill, no this coaster uses all that force on some wicked turns. In all I would have to put this up there in my Top 10 coasters, i mean i have not been on to many wooden coasters but The Beast for some reason still gets me (and no im not talking about the beast at kemah lol) But the Bullet is up on my list of rides and a must ride for anyone, especially those of you who just love wood over steel, im just happy its not a weak ride since its sort of our hometown park now
  9. You can do what i did when i started with coasters some 10 years ago, just read up the lingo on some sites and books. And for the question before about weight and size, since there not using seat belts it sounds like or looks like , then she may be able to fit but who knows how far the lap bar will have to go down. I remember back in the day when my dad used to not fit in the cyclone trains but then they changed them from the casket seats to the open trains and he was able to fit with ease. AlsoI wonder if they will come back after its all said and done to check up on the coaster to see if there going to have to add mid breaks and what not. I hope they just let it go. Otherwise we will have a Mean Streak.
  10. poor astroworld... and i did not think anyone really called, i was joking when i said i did...
  11. I called and asked if they needed a test dummy for the ride, i gladly take part...and just brace myself for the third hill sudden stop of pain. Haha, ok I didnt, but i would gladly take them on that offer. I just started a piggy bank with nothing but quarters so i can pay the 4.75 when this thing opens
  12. and NO i dont care if Kemah has nothing to do with Six flags , i just want to blame someone
  13. I think the coasters gods are giving them a hard time because someone had demolished all coasters from this area and so in return, they are having the hardest time because of it... YES I'M BLAMING SIX FLAGS, not astroworld but SIX FLAGS CORP. for the late opening and mishaps BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
  14. of course with all the rain and bad weather...that has extended this conscruction beyond anyones dreams. It has to get stuck on the ride, i know they will fix it but man i feel for these guys. I mean you work on something for so long, longer then you wanted to and then BOOM!!! i guess it will feel 10x better inside when it does crest the hill and makes it all the way around.
  15. All i know is that im super siked for this ride. I mean living in the Houston Area, just to have something to get a few thrills out of is going to be very nice. Now I have a friend who works for Kemah Boardwalk and she said they were going to open late August to open around the time they have like a Anniversary or something like that. I guess they were able to fix the corner where it hit the Steak House pretty close.
  16. i meant the extra helix in terms of better, not sure why i said bigger
  17. so i turned 21 july 8 and for my birthday gift, my dad surprised me with a trip to Vegas and of course i convinced him to take me to California as well. I got to admit Vegas is a fun place, but the coasters there are sub level. Not really worth your money but me being the coaster monster I am went ahead and paid for it. We stayed at New York New York, which was a great place and was paradise compared to where we stayed in California. But more on that later. I'm just going to give the name of the coasters i rode and then give my rating. The Roller coaster at NY NY - it was actually pretty good, i liked the way it goes around the place but i hated the restraints. Speed at Nascar Cafe - one of those coasters that i just wish i would have skipped. It just was not all that fast but then again I've been on both TTD and Ka. Buffalo Bill's Desperado - someone told me that it was a smooth coaster well i guess i went on a bad day, i mean it was some 114 degrees out there. Funny side story or at least it is now that i look back onto it. I actually lost my wallet on the coaster but luck have it, it was sitting in the seat that i had just walked off of after going once more. Is that a miracle, i think so! So then we went to California for a few days and i was really excited about Universal and the original disneyland and 6 flags. Sadly i feel like i missed out on Knott's but Universal had nothing. We were able to do the whole park in less then 5 hours. That is sort of sad to say the least. Disneyland did not fail me, and i was a little skeptical because I've been so many times to Disney world. But DL did not let me down. We went on a Saturday and were able to do everything on a pretty busy day. Course we decided to go back the next Tuesday but more on that in a second. We stayed at Travel Lodge International which was ok in distance compared to DL but it was advertised to be a hotel and was worse then some of the motels I've stayed at. Well maybe it was the Ny Ny Hotel that spoiled us. So we then went to Six Flags California and we were lucky to go on a Monday and beat the LA traffic. I still do not know exactly how we were able to get there so early. Anyways heres my ratings for each ride i rode and in all i really enjoyed this six flags. Tatsu - By far one of the best flying type coasters i've been on, i was just glad it was not another superman clone. Goliath- Being from Texas, I've rode the Titan which is almost an exact replica except the large turn before the mid-brakes and i just have to say that everything in Texas is Bigger and Better, haha at least this ride was. Scream - very lame in terms of excitement. But then again I had been on Medusa and S:KC so many times before. Riddler Revenge - i think this is a hidden treasure that never gets talked about a lot, honestly it was the best stand up coaster I've been on. I feel for this coaster to because it was overshadowed by the others. Superman- still good for its age X- I have been riding coasters since i was about age 8 or 9. Never have i found a coaster that not only got me once but both times i rode it. To put it terms of Texas Talk " its a bull that you just have to stay ahead of or else it will take you" seriously this coaster is up there in my top 10 So now that i have bored you to death. I just thought i mention my last day at Disneyland, yes it was Tuesday July 17the, 2007 which for you history buffs, is the birthday of DL. I really had no idea until we went to see Talk with Crush and Crush pointed it out on a kid wearing a button. So then we actually walked over the celebration they had which was short but very nice. If it was not for Disney himself, we probably would not see so much competition between theme parks and see less innovation and more of the same. Oh and by the way i was able to ride Finding Nemo and to be honest if you have the time then wait it out but if not , you should enjoy the other rides first because the line is very short towards midnight. In all i really enjoyed my trip and if you like to see pictures, go to www.myspace.com/coasterboy12345 and just look at the pics labeled vegas/cali trip under my pictures, I may get in trouble for placing my myspace on here but I will be Honest I could not figure out how to put pictures on the post.
  18. I went last week to six flags callfornia and they had the single rider line open. Of course when i went, the lines were like a 5 minute wait. I did notice however that later on in the day, they had security over there passing out paper that said we had to stay in line, ext. I'm not sure why they did this because at that point of the day , it was still like a 20 people in the station.
  19. oh man great pictures.. Hey when did you go to SFFT, because i was there last friday and The Rattler was closed that day as well, perhaps it has seen its last days. Do not worry though you really did not miss a thing , it drops then turns a few times then drops again, its kind of lame. Im going to dallas in like a few weeks, and of course, im going for the rides but more importantly im going for the PINK THINGS, are they still just 2 bucks or did six flags decide to pull a parking lot raise on it and make it more...i wish they would sell those at other places, there just soooooooooo good. Mr. Freeze is awesome, im really happy to see its back open because it was closed for like a year there. THats how six flags does it though. Anyways man great TPR
  20. But i was just wondering if X was running this summer. I heard it was open but then i hear its getting new trains so im a little confused. Is it open? anyone can help i appreciate it
  21. Hey, man long time since i posted on this site, but believe me it is one of my most beloved sites. Anyways i'm going to Las Vegas this summer which is no biggie but i convinced my pops to take me to Cali, so i can i get some much needed time at disney and other places...Mainly i was just wondering if anyone knew about how long it was from Las Vegas to say Disneyland and/or the other theme parks, because were going to try to hit up like 4 of them in like 5 or 6 days so we have to plan it right. And i'm sure someone would be able to help out. Also does anyone have any tips like which theme park i should try to hit first. I've been to most of the parks but it was like 8 years ago , i was like 12 so i don't remember a thing. Long story short any tips for a Vegas to Cali trip would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
  22. Congrats...get all the sleep u can now, cause u will never sleep again
  23. OMFGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG dude, i live in Houston, and as a roller coaster lover, i was sad to see Six Flags Astroworld go, R.I.P. (even though really the theme park was not up to par with say Over Texas or even Fiesta) but atleast NOW i don't have to drive 4 hours to get my rollercoaster fix, i do not even care if the ride is the talliest, fastiest, or what not, IT'S A ROLLER COASTER like less then 10 miles away from me...KEMAH HAS ANSWERED MY PRAYERS.... and so you know Kemah is basically a bunch of restaurants with some carnival type rides which is like 10 bucks just to ride the ferris wheel, but i do not mind paying for a coaster, hopefully it will be reasonable.
  24. nice trip report, im glad to hear that la ronda wasnt much to see because i was supposed to go there last summer, but instead we went to SFNE so i know what exactly what you mean by Superman as being one of the best coasters out there, easily bumped and took the spot of MF in my list
  25. well all i have to say is this, ive been to hershey park and i rode storm runner, that wasnt the fastiest or talliest but man was it fun. Maverick looks like a bigger version of Storm Runner. If anything it can be used to start kids off on fast coasters before they hit TTD or MF
