FLIPDUDE Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Here in Israel there's a theme park called "King's City", which is based on the bible(Successful holy land experience, anyone?). For a while since it opened it only had one really magor worthwhile ride, King Solomon's falls, in which you ride through a boat for 7 minutes through biblical animatronic scenes and then drop into the King's pool. However the ticket price was always extremely high(Approx. $20 for a park with one proper ride) but I jsut read in the paper that the company tha tbuilt the giant spiral slides in that London museum several months back built 2 slides at King's City as a 1.5 Million Shequels(Approx. $375,000) investment in the park. From what I understand there is now also some sort of maze there and an inflatable Noah's Ark(yes, all of this does seem weird to me, even though I'm from Israel, just in case you're wondering.) The new slides go up to 40KMPH (25MPH, I think) and are called "David's Spirals". They were manufcatured by the WEIGAND company. Still haven't gotten to visit the park because it's a 4 hour drive through the desert to get there, but next time I'm in Eilat I'll be sure to check it out. I realize this matters to pretty much nobody on the forum except me and Krouvi but I figured you mgiht at least want to know that hte company that made the famous London slides is manufacturing slides for amusement parks too. King's city in Eilat, Israel. The slides at the Tate museum in London. From my understanding the slides have already been open for a while now but they still don't appear ont he park's website: www.kingscity.com
Top Thrill Dragster Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Those slides look like so much fun. I now know were the Simpson's got the idea for the Praise Land episode.
piers Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Those slides do look very cool but also very painful. I have ridden ones like them but no where near as steep or high and they pratically battered me!
rct2wizard360 Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 XTREME! Those must have some long ends...

Disney Dood Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Metal slides give me bad memories... Burger King... toddler.. rusty nails... prostetic needle in the ballpit.... The flume ride looks really fun though, looks like alot of effort was put into it.

One of the many great things about this board is that you get to learn about other parks/attractions on the planet, not just the ones in your home country. Cool to hear about these slides and the ones in London. Glad you shared this, as I learned something new today.
naniel89 Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 I visited the Tate Modern in Janurary a couple of times to go on the slides. I have to say they were alot of fun! And amazingly pain free! Although on the highest of the 5 slide i did wonder when it was going to end and it did get rather boring and slightly repetitive seeing the same plastic covers over and over again and the metal curving round. Although i wonder if they will have the heart condition, and the many other warnings that the Tate had inplace. It's a good little addition to this park. Although its abit of a shame they were removed from the Tate the turbine hall looks really strange now.
