WillMontu Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 With the Haunted Mansion coming out of rehab, Erik and I went down to MK to check out the new and improved ride. In addition to new effects and other changes, much of the ride has been cleaned up with better audio and such. Keep in mind that some of these pictures are blurry due to a long camera exposure and a moving ride vehicle. As the haunts say, flash photography is forbidden. Theming? More Halloween theming The park is all decked out for MNSSHP As far as we know, the van didn't eat any small children while we were in the park, though it was probably tempted to, being at the Magic Kingdom Time to go home The Peoplemover is always a walk-on, even on the busiest days They were giving out Fastpasses for Carousel of Progress. I never noticed this detail While getting brainfreeze is optional, buying a Dole-Whip is mandatory It's all about the Dole Whip! Hold the license plate upside down and you get a number that some find kind of scary Some of the merchandise Fortunately they got it going again fairly quickly We had an e-stop at this point The ghost bride Another shot of the floating head More detail of the theming "Back...to the mansion" (If you know what game that quote came from, e-mail Dan!) What happened to the robot that used to be here? Back over to Space for another spin They even have his screen name on a Fastpass! It's all about Bryan! OMG! The castle's exploding! [insert castle joke here] The Peoplemover even duels! Astro Orbiter was down for some rehab It is mandatory to ride the Peoplemover when visiting MK Lift-off Though Space is getting into the Halloween spirit with the ghosts of ride-ops from times gone by Space was running at full capacity though Big Vekoma Mountain was closed An acceptable level of wetness? I thought this shot came out kind of cool He seems to be working on a more consistent basis Going down... The WJOD spared us! We met up with Colin and a few of his friends then went on Splash The pet cemetery hasn't changed, if at all This isn't new, but shows the attention to detail Hurry baaaaaack! The banquet room The head now floats, like the DL version Another look at the lightning flash pictures There are some new decorations in the loading room A few seconds later Looking up in the stretching room More detail We went around again after riding The ghost passengers are now animated The Escher staircases are cool looking Lightning flashes cause these images to change The loading station The stretching room has been improved with a better sound system and other general touch-ups Creepy But it gets older This looks new Is this going to be a scary ride? This fan system appears to be new They had a separate line open for passholders to bypass the regular queue
TheStig Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 I dont know why, but all Im seeing is red X's (except for the last two). Anyways, it was nice meeting you Will! Hopefully I can see you're pictures soon!
mxman005 Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 yep same here..... only the last two are working. Weird. Ive ridden Mansion a few times since it has re-opened. Its great. Before it was a ride I would incorporate if I have the time, now its something that is a non miss. Alot bright than use to be. They didn't ruin a classic attraction. Thats what I like th most about it.
DarkMeasures Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Pics aren't working like the two previous posters said. But a person at the WDWMagic forums has been taking flash photos of inside the ride and the new stuff looks freakin amazing with flash on.
WillMontu Posted September 18, 2007 Author Posted September 18, 2007 I re-uploaded the pictures. They should be working again. I first uploaded them yesterday when the server was having problems.
RctInfinity Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Does the new bride have that appearing and disappearing ax like in DLR? Great photos.
Homer Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Ah, more great pics Will. At least I can actually somewhat see the improvements on Haunted Mansion. Glad y'all had a good time up at MK and great pics, Will.
mcjaco Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 This entire PTR is a farce! Everyone knows Colin has no friends!
TheStig Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 ^You are to be run over in the near future, watch out.
Erik Johnson Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Does the new bride have that appearing and disappearing ax like in DLR? Great photos. Yes it does.
StealthFan Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 i have seen a video of the new Haunted Mansion and it is the first time I have really had a look at the ride and it reminds me of the late great Wicked Witches Haunt at Thorpe Park. The new effects that looked really good and seemed to give the ride a brilliant effect. How much did this revamp cost?
coastercrazed49 Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 I just have one quick question, I know that Disney is not that strict when it comes to cameras on their rides. But would they be different for someone like me who is only 13?
Director_Guy Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 You had to deal with Dan and Jope? That's scarier than the Haunted Mansion ever could be. Haha.
TheStig Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 ^Atleast they didnt have to deal with you, Lundy! And Joe is pretty scary, Im not going to lie.
Pufferfish Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Wow, the mansion looks great now. this was definitely a much needed refurb. Can't wait to get back and check it out now.
Erik Johnson Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 I just have one quick question, I know that Disney is not that strict when it comes to cameras on their rides. But would they be different for someone like me who is only 13? It does not matter who you are. Just do not use a flash while taking pictures inside attractions.

Thats good to hear because I might be going to Disney next year, and that question has been bugging me for the longest time. Thanks.
