Okay. My school is going on a field trip to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom next month. I'm totally wanting to go for the coasters and such, but I'm not so sure about the actual 'Fright Fest' thing. I'm pretty easily freaked out, and I'm thinking it may be too much for me. Can somebody tell me how freaky it is?

Well, field trips aren't usually at night, are they? If it's during the day, you have nothing to worry about, seeing as they don't do Fright Fest stuff during the day. If you are going at night though, you can simply avoid the scare zones and you'll be fine.

Woah, field trip to a theme park? That only happens here for physics classes, or band going to WDW. Well, there really isn't anything to worry about. Theme park Halloween stuff normally isn't that scary. Now some of the privately ran attractions are great.

As socalMAN123 mentioned, the FF activities occur only after dark, which I'm certain your school field trip will be long done with by then, so no worries.

If by chance not, all the haunted walk throughs are upcharges, so these are easily avoidable. And avoid the one single lone clearly marked scare zone out by the sea lion stadium. Honestly, it's more of a opportunity to enjoy the park and coasters in the dark than anything else, SFDK's FF is pretty weak and dated as far as these type of events go.

Speaking of SFDK's Fright Fest. I received this little media blurb about the park doing talent tryouts this weekend. If you live in the Bay Area and have some free time to donate, you should stop by the park.

Check the information here:

Well let's see...how freaked out are you by people popping out on random vacant walkways with their chainsaws to chase random groups of people who walk through? Really, it's nothing really to freak out about as it's mainly halloween props. (Do check out the Brutal Planet though, although I found it rather tame when they moved it over behind V2.)

I went to fright fest there last year and I thought it was a joke. Not scary at all. There were only two full size walk throughs which weren't all that scary either. In fact, my friends and I messed with the staff who were in there a lot.

Compared to my visit there at fright fest in 2001, It was nothing.

As already mentioned, just stay away from the scarezones and houses if you don't feel comfortable. However, SF does seem to be pushing the envelope...even for me with some of their new promotions.

If you go to www.Sixflags.com and choose "Very, very scary" when prompted you'll find out about the "Coffin Of Fear".

Coffins? Worms? I'm out. But would you do it for possible free admission, and other prizes?
