Well, it looks like I'm going to stop by Blue Diamond Park and Ocean City, MD to "ho" up on some credits on my way to BGW. I haven't found much on Ocean City, MD other than what's on RCDB.com. So how are the coasters like in Ocean City? More importantly, will they let adults ride the kiddie coasters like Sooper Jet and the Wacky Worm? I saw about 4 different parks with about 7 coasters total. I'm not sure if I can fit into the Tobbagan!

I went to Ocean City a couple times last year. I love it. It's sorta trashy though. My favorite coaster in OCMD is the Pinfari ZL42 called Looping Star at Ocean City Pier Rides (the only pier in OCMD I believe). Ride in the back car, it's not as rough and the first drop is sick. The front was rougher.

Ocean City Pier Rides has a real shitty dark ride, a Breakdance, a ferris wheel, and a few other crap rides. And all the employees smoked, even the ones operating the coaster.

Trimpers is right down the block. It has a really old and smooth Boomerang called Tidal Wave. It has a horrible looking Chance drop tower, a Chance Toboggan (which yes, is a tight fit). I honestly don't know about SooperJet, I didn't try to ride it because it's powered. And, there is arguably the best dark ride on earth at Trimpers.

Quite a ways down the highway is Jolly Roger, and they have a Maurer-Soenhe Wild Mouse. I skipped it because I didn't feel like riding it, and I'm not a credit slut.

There's a couple Wacky Worms around OCMD too. Oh yeah, about Blue Diamond - ride the Streak, very back. On the first drop, close your eyes, pick your feet off the floor, and raise your hands. You'll almost shit your pants, it's so scary. And I can't say I recommend the Sky Diver. It's pure evil. I hated it.

Hope this helped,

None of the coasters in ocean city are great, sadly the Boomerang at Trimpers is the best one.

I know you can ride Wacky Worm at Jolly Roger (I did)

And The best ride in OC is the Zipper at trimpers... I Mean, its a zipper... so its obviously great.

Oh... and HAVE SOME THRASHERS FRENCH FRIES

(They are amazing... especially with some Apple Cider Vinegar)

Thanks for the tips! I think I will stop by Blue Diamond Park first before hitting the skanky Ocean City rides. I will try to ride the Sooper Jet. Man, I feel so dirty ho-ing it up!

I wanted to drop by Williams Grove on my way back from BGW and PKD on Monday, but it's closed! I guess I can stop by a Jeepers in Baltimore. I hope to hit Dorney Park after 5 pm on that Monday. Maybe I can do the kiddie coaster at Poconos in Bartonsville.

Back up for 2006.

Heading down to Trimper's. Have to have funnel cake to supplement the Thrasher's though. The Haunted House, Zipper, and Tilt-a-Whirl are definitely working (I'm seriously jonesing & Great Adventure's opening is 2 wks away). So is something they call Avalanche, which isn't listed on TPC's site. Anyone have any idea what that is? They already have a Matterhorn & Himalaya, and they've always called their toboggan ride Tobaggan.

The avalanche is the ride where you go side up and down. I don't know the name of it. Yes pier rides is a crap amusement park but if you are looking for a family oriented fun fair type day, go to Trimper's. Its a very nice park and everyone there is friendly. Also check out the many shops. Have fun.

The wife and I did an Ocean City credit run last August.

Started the day off at Baja Amusements (they allow you to ride the Wacky Worm).

Then it was off to the boardwalk. Hit the Ocean City Pier first, as it opens earlier, and then Trimpers. Didn't ride the Sooper Jet as it's powered.

If you like darkrides, make sure you ride the Haunted House. It's a seperate admission but it's super long, although a lof the gags weren't working as we went through.

Then we went north and hit the Jolly Roger. They also allow adult rides on their Wacky Worm.

Finally, like I said before, if you really like darkrides and have time, continue north to Reboboth Beach, DE and ride the Haunted Mansion. It's probably my second fav, only behind the one at Knoebels.

Oh, and like others have said, eat some Thrashers french fries.

With vinegar!

We came, we saw, I conquered. My husband had trouble keeping down his Thrasher's

Thanks for the Avalanche info. Basically it's a baby Falling Star, there is/was one at Beech Bend Park.

They ran the Zipper pretty wild. The Haunted House was great, but again, a number of scenes weren't working (I miss the water effect). Hoping that's because it's March, but a couple Wild Mouse movements and the disconcertingly unstable tilt of the tracks helped make up for what's missing in spots. Any history buff should ride the Herschell-Spillman Carousel inside too - classic - so many critters to choose from, but nothing tops the hopping frog.

I have to second the recommendation for the Haunted House @ Rehoboth's Funland. Their suspended cars are cool. Rehoboth Beach is pretty cool in general, but for sunning, dining, bar-hopping, charming downtown shopping, and major outlet shopping on the highway, not rides.

Afraid I lack the required skill & equipment. But I'll see if I can velcro my little Canon SD200 to my shirt (probably won't work on the zipper since even the change in my cargo pockets came out and hit me in the head). Concussion = good ride!

Took another trip to Trimper's: want to bring this up because once again the Zipper was AMAZING - many flips and flops, fast. It seems hard to find a Zipper, so if that's your thing, it's a must-visit.

The Haunted House there is also a classic, with many new gags added recently.
