coasterdude5 Posted August 4, 2007 Author Posted August 4, 2007 Update Year 1 - Grand Opening Download Grand Opening Year: http://www.coaster101.com/gamesector/zTaigaParkYEAR1.zip The guests are being held far back for the grand mad rush. The sideshow performer is getting ready. The gates are OPEN. Timbermine had the longest wait all day. "The long walk was worth it!" several guests told me. I was stationed at the gate most of the day. This is how it looked two hours before the park shut the gates... The entrance plaza is bright at night. So is most of the park! More soon! Download Grand Opening Year: http://www.coaster101.com/gamesector/zTaigaParkYEAR1.zip This is sorta like a preview download. I'll still post one when the park is finished. PLEASE POST TRIP REPORTS! CS Needed: All Shyguy sets excluding circus sets Vodhin Vermont and Light sets Steelworx
Kingbooba Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 I'm not gonna try to download it, my computer will lag, so can I have a list of all the rides?
coasterdude5 Posted August 4, 2007 Author Posted August 4, 2007 Windigo (steel B&M looper) Ore Cart (wooden indoor/outdoor family) The Timbermine (drop tower) Taiga Experience (4D theater ride) Chute de Chute (logflume) Taiga Express (train) Mining Expeditions Ltd. (indoor cavern tour ride) SkyWay (chairlift)
asr Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 I tried to emulate the usual TPR style as best as I could for this TR, I hope you guys like it! -Year 1 TR- Taiga was truely a different sort of park. I had really heard next too nothing about it, except it was going to have a meh looking B&M. However, I was going to be in the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia for sightseeing, so I decided too stop by, even though I had heard horror storys about the crowds. Getting there was truely an adventure in itself. I will spare you the details, but I will say that the park is truely in the middle of nowhere. I arrived at the park around 4 PM. The forecast was scattered light showers, but walking through the gates, it really started too pour. I wanted to do the Taiga Expierence because I am a documentary buff, but with the rain I decided to run too the rides section before they closed everything. Arriving, I ran too Windigo first, where it was a walk-on for the front. I anticipated a meh, forceless B&M, but it really took my breath away. The first half is forceless, but the suprise in the tunnel (Which I won't give away) was crazy and the second half was forcefull and completly different. As we arrived in the station, the operator told us our ride was almost 5 seconds fast, and park regulations stated that they had too shut the ride down. I was kinda annoyed, because I wanted a backseat ride, but whatever. I looked at the park guide for indoor attractions that would be running in the rain, and found Ore Cart, an indoor wooden coaster. Ore Cart was really something else, it started as a weird darkride thing, and then had a tiny coaster section that actually had a decently sized drop. After that, I wen't over too another strange dark ride, a tram going through a mountain named "Mining Expedition". It was really strange and not very good, everything but the very new looking animatronics was very retro, and it seemed rushed. With the rain getting worse, I headed all the way down to Taiga Expierience. It was a good show, but unfortunatly, I didn't get any pictures because they wouldn't let me take my camera in. I walked back up the hill, and with the rain not getting any better, and stomach growling, I stopped by the Warehouse restaraunt, and had a BBQ Chicken Cheddar Melt. It was affordable (Only $7.49 USD!), good sized, And excellent food. You can't go too Taiga and not eat at the Warehouse. Since it was clear that the rain was not gonna stop, I decided to run too the back of the park and ride the two ride back there if they were open, and then leave. I first did Chute De Chute, because I couldn't get much wetter than I already was. It had no line, and was a decent ride, but a liittle short, and made a pretty big splash. I proceeded too the very back, where I saw Timbermine, another weird ride. It had insane ejector air, but it made a pretty terrible noise and was very rough for a drop tower. I thought it was really old, but the operator told me it was brand new. Must just be that it is an in-house job. After that, the rain still wasn't letting up, so I left, and picked up an awesome Windigo shirt on the way. Overall, it was a cool, very unique park, and I would love to get more time to explore it and take in the scenary. I ended up staying only about 1.5-2 hours at the park. Total Ride Count; Windigo: 1 Ore Cart: 2 Mining Expedition: 1 Taiga Expierience: 1 Chute de Chute: 1 Timbermine: 1 On to the pics! As I left, I took this shot of the crazy Taiga Ridge falls, which jump out as if saying "Screw Windigo, I'm the star here!". Thanks for reading this TR! Like the food, Taiga's merchandise is inexpensive and high quality. This is one of the many gift shops. But at the bottom of the hill, the first half pops out and yells "I AM EMO, GIMME ATTENTION!", but I say "Naw, you suck!" and leave. Windigo's first half was last seen slitting it's wrists in a dark, secluded bedroom. I tried too get shots of Windigo, but unfortunatly, it is an example of Beastus Shyus (Hard to Photograph Coaster) and this about the best I got. The very cool enclosed queue. Timbermine, the creepy in-house drop ride. The cute boats on Cute de Cute. The crazy queue for Cute de Cute... Err, Chute de Chute. The Warehouse. Great food and not insane prices like most parks. And they had free soft drinks too (It was Pepsi though, eeeeeewwww...) The end of the pathway, probably for a future attraction. OMG 1000 FOOT STANDUP AQAUTRAX!!!111!!!! Urgggggg... I CAN MAKE IT. The TE building again. I was going to do the train, but I decided to wait until the rain let up. The one shot I got off Mining Expedition. Cameras where allowed, but None of the shots turned out any good. Ore Cart was really weird. It was rough, short, and completly pointless, but in a cool way. It had no line, so I rode twice. The immense wait for Windigo. Canadian people must be in cahoots with Japan, look at all the cloaking devices. Windigo's entrance, through the... *killed* Taiga's "Town Sqaure" area. By the top of the hill, I was so out of breath I nearly collapsed. I need to lay off the funnel cakes. Taiga is home to "The Hill". The building for Taiga Experierence. Screw that, let's ride Windigo! The very rustic entrance to Taiga Park.
Steffen_Dk Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 I thought that kind of trip report is a really good idea Now you get even more pics of this cool park.
steel Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 Still looks REALLY good. I meant overboard with the coasters, yes. There was way too much in that park and a lot of it was really unrealistic. It's just not my style of park.
coasterdude5 Posted August 4, 2007 Author Posted August 4, 2007 Update Year 1 The park was packed today. Windigo hasn't left without a full train all day. This is where you hear the most screams, people then realize how high up they are upside down. Then the screams usually stop during this forceful turn. The dive loop is the beginning of the intense portion of the ride. The launch isn't much, but you can definitely feel a push out of the tunnel. Windigo doesn't let up at all from lift-hill to brake run. It's taken many of our guest's number one spot! The zero-g roll is the best part on the ride - near weightlessness! You make a turn, roar through the last loop and then glide into the brake run. It's a great ride. More soon, next time I'll focus on Ore Cart.
thefitness Posted August 4, 2007 Posted August 4, 2007 Your parks make me want to go play RCT3, and this one is no exception! Windigo looks awesome!
coasterdude5 Posted August 5, 2007 Author Posted August 5, 2007 Update Year 1 Ore Cart has had a moderate success so far this season. It's been holding up pretty well, but this was a short season compared to what's to come next year. Oh yeah, I'm sure alot of you are wondering, the park will not be receiving an addition next year. It's coming for the Year 3 season. Down they go... Chute de Chute has been a huge hit with guests this season... ...especially since it's been warmer than usual. Chute de Chute at dusk. Windigo leaves with another full train... And the train returns full... (that's always a good thing!) Whoa, one of the guests REALLY enjoyed the ride. More soon. I'm heading out for some promotional work for the park, but I'll be back in time for Year 2.
Adrenaline_Rush Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 It looks like this park is a HUGE hit! Wow didnt think ore cart, would be such a hit! Keep up the good work, and keep the park realistic like you always do, I like your updates they seem like real Photo TR's and info stuff. Nice job, your amazing at RCT3.
coasterdude5 Posted August 6, 2007 Author Posted August 6, 2007 Thanks, practice makes perfect, that's what I try to keep in my head. But Rock n' Soul was a massive bomb as far as I'm concerned, which is sad considering how much Memphis means to me. I could've made it alot more than what it was, but when you lose interest in something, it's hard to get it back.
steel Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 OMG, best screenshot EVER! I love how the guy next to him is like "WTF is this guy doing?!"
coasterdude5 Posted August 6, 2007 Author Posted August 6, 2007 Update Year 2 I'm back! While there's nothing new for Year 2, work has already begun for Year 3. Today they were finishing work on the bridge that will act as the entrance to the new area. Foundation for one of the new rides has already begun. But enough of that, onto the rest of the park. Windigo makes everybody happy. Why has Ore Cart stopped again? Broken. I heard some of my ride-op friends say that they're tired of having to E-Stop this ride. Windigo is perfect though, I hope it stays around until I die. With only one train, the line seem to be getting longer each day. Another crowded day... More soon.
asr Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Great park. I was hoping for a wooden coaster, but you seem too have slipped up, I can see a Tea Cups ride in one of those screenshots, so I'm thinking a kiddie area (Which is something thee park desperatly needs, it has way too few flats). I'm also thinking that Ore Cart is on the way out soon with the trouble it is having.
steel Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 When is Windigo getting a second train? It's way to big to have a one-train operation. IMO, Windigo is the best coaster you've done in RCT3, even if it is launched. It's fantastic.
coasterdude5 Posted August 7, 2007 Author Posted August 7, 2007 ^ It's actually not that big of a coaster. It's spread out, but since it doesn't stop until the brake run, there's no spot for a block brake.
asr Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 ^ It's actually not that big of a coaster. It's spread out, but since it doesn't stop until the brake run, there's no spot for a block brake. You do know that you can have a coaster run two trains with just a block brake in the final brake run, right?
coasterdude5 Posted August 7, 2007 Author Posted August 7, 2007 ^ Yes, but still one train would have to wait somewhere, which wouldn't help that much. GUEST SURVEY (A) - Project Stream - Boarding six-passenger boats, riders will be taken on a journey through the Taiga Biome, down waterfalls, up through the valleys, only to find themself coming face-to-face with the biggest drop off in the area, with no where to go but down. ------------- (B) - Project Wood - Hugging the side of the Taiga Park landscape, this monstrously compact rollercoaster will grace the hillside with its crafted wood and its specially-designed layout. The ride will start big and end bigger with multiple drops, turns, and other elements. ------------- © - Project Indigo - Immersed in the mountains, the rollercoaster will take riders literally over a waterfall 200 feet down towards the river below. Riders will then roar through airtime hills before being lifted into the sky again for a second round of stomach-churning drops and hills. Please post which idea you would like for Taiga Park to feature for future Seasons.
socalMAN123 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I'm gonna have to go with B because I really think this park needs a signature woodie with Windigo already in place. Ore Cart doesn't seem that great, so I really think B would be a good idea. Great park and I can't wait to see more! ---Brent
asr Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I am torn between B and C. I wanted a woodie, and it would fit the atmosphere, but a terrain hypercoaster at this park would just be too amazing, so I have too go with C.
Vekoma Fan Boy Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I'd say B and C. That is if you can. But if you can only do one, then B.
steel Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 C is way too awesome to not do. Anyway, woodies always look crappy in RCT3.
coasterdude5 Posted August 7, 2007 Author Posted August 7, 2007 Update Year 2 I see you all received the survey, thank-you for participating! Upper-management is looking into all of the possibilities right now but your opinion does matter! As we come to the end of Year 2, there is alot of work going on in the new area, and you get a preview! The bridge is now complete! Guests will have the opportunity to walk across it and get a view of the area below. At night the bridge lights up. While not bright, it's a cool view. It's a great entrance to a soon-to-be great area. Looking down the bridge... You're not that high up, but you get a great view of the Town Square. More path being laid, this is gonna be a large addition. Restroom facilities are also being constructed. What's this? Could it be the centerpiece to the new area? I'll have another update during the offseason. More soon.
