Swoosh Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 Could it be that there is a large amount of land cleared because they are going to have to put in basics along that new path. You'll need walk up restaurants, restrooms, other utilities just to run that area. It's not just like you can make a path and call it good. I would imagine that next year's cap is going to go towards the "basic foundations" that must be built up in that area. I'm sure a large cap will be coming down the road, but HFEC has already confirmed that a large cap WILL NOT be coming to DW next season.
kraken613 Posted July 6, 2007 Author Posted July 6, 2007 This is much larger than just for a path and a reasturant.
Shavethewhales Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 ^Just because the area is large doesn't necessarily mean they'll be filling it all just yet. They've probably cleared so much so they can set up utilities for future purposes.
Swoosh Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 ^^Why is it that middle schoolers cannot read and listen? Like ^ said they are not going to fill it all in for next season. It is much easier to get the utilities and whatnot set up in advance so when you do want to expand with a ride or so, you won't have to tack setting up the utilities on top of the expense of the new attraction. Â We are all aware that the space is large. We are not debating that issue.
Wes Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 The space is really large though. Much bigger than just for a pathway and a restaurant. Â EDIT: The space is really large. Â EDIT x2: Much larger than just for a pathway and restaurant. Â EDIT x3: Also, the space they are clearing is big. As in large.
kraken613 Posted July 7, 2007 Author Posted July 7, 2007 I know what you are saying I just didnt expect Dollywood would clear that much land because it wont look like the rest of the park thats filled in it will look barren. Â I don't know why you have to be so rude just because i'm not as old as some of you. I'm in High School 10th grade no Middle School.
Wes Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 ^ I'm just guessing here, but it might be because your spelling and grammar is at the level of a middle school student. Again, just a guess. Â Also, the space. It's very large.
gnewton34 Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Sally dark ride. Rednecks and guns....can't lose proposition for the park. Â EDIT: And one thing's for certain. This will be the greatest walkway in the history of walkways. Â DELIVERANCE: The Ride
kraken613 Posted July 7, 2007 Author Posted July 7, 2007 ^ I'm just guessing here, but it might be because your spelling and grammar is at the level of a middle school student. Again, just a guess. Also, the space. It's very large. Your the only one who said "The space its very large" not me! Also thats not a reason you have to be rude!
coasterdude5 Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 I believe a dark ride will eventually be installed, because that area , Timber Canyon, has no indoor attractions (Mystery Mine doesn't really count) . If you don't like the heat or whatever, you're out of luck over there. Â I'm still hoping for a B&M someday... but Tennessee Tornado will do.
Shavethewhales Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Somebody needs to get some close up shots of the utilities going in, it could be a clue, especially if there's a large concentration somewhere.
BeemerBoy Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 ^ I think we still have to determine if the area in question is large. Â ^^ As far as hoping for a B&M when it's time to talk new coaster again, given the great reviews at SDC, I'd hope for another Power Keg type of ride. Of course, I would *settle* for a beemer. Â Â Scott "my sore feet would be happy with just a connecting walkway" B.
alpengeist04 Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 ^I second that. It may not be the longest walk, but it sure as hell feels like it. Â Oh and if anyone can get an overhead shot, just to determine if the area in question is large, that would be appreciated.
All Clear Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Â Also, the space. It's very large. Â But does it look as large as it looks?
Shavethewhales Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 Â ^^ As far as hoping for a B&M when it's time to talk new coaster again, given the great reviews at SDC, I'd hope for another Power Keg type of ride. Of course, I would *settle* for a beemer. Â My thoughts exactly. PK is simply amazing, and the fact that no parks are hounding after S&S to build them a similar coaster surprises and dismays me. Really, I'd rather take a few rides on PK than ride Wildfire all day. Besides, think of what else S&S could do with that model; I'd love to see them getting into the looping coaster market.
Jonathan Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 I agree about Powder Keg, but what I really want is ThuNderaTion. Now THAT is a mine train. Screw being the best mine train I've ever been on, that's one of the best steel coasters period that I've ever been on. Slight exaggeration? Perhaps... Â Also, I was surprised when I looked at an ariel view of Dollywood to see that the Mystery Mine area and Craftman's Valley area are actually really close to each other. It won't take a whole lot to connect the two.
kraken613 Posted July 7, 2007 Author Posted July 7, 2007 ^ Im always supprised how close they are on the map they look very far from eachother.
coasterdude5 Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 ^ Yeah, I read somewhere (I believe ThrillNetwork) that the map is not to scale, and that the two areas are very close together. Â Here's a pic I made up a while back: Â The gap is even shorter than it shows in this this pic.
Shavethewhales Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 I agree about Powder Keg, but what I really want is ThuNderaTion. Now THAT is a mine train. Screw being the best mine train I've ever been on, that's one of the best steel coasters period that I've ever been on. Slight exaggeration? Perhaps... Â Perhaps indeed. It's a fun ride, and easily the best Mine Train in the world as far as forces and track work goes, but I wouldn't call it anything close to a top-ten coaster. Why did DW take out their mine train? Â Â Looking more closely at the park for the first time, I'm very surprised the park wasn't built in circle fashion in the first place, like SDC was, but then again, craftsman's valley is fairly new.
coasterdude5 Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 ^ They had to make room for Tennessee Tornado. They even reused Thunder Express' old station.
Disney Dood Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 That much land is being cleared for a gondola? Something's fishy....
Swoosh Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 No that land is being cleared to connect the loop. The gondola ride is going in besides that path. Â Also, the space. It's very large.
alpengeist04 Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 The next few years should be very interesting, since the overhead shot clearly shows the space is indeed very large.
