Well, if the kid pointed it at another person, then I have no sympathy for him. While the police should not have gone as far as they did, they were just doing their job. Sure the kid didn't have to be arrested, but you have to be pretty stupid to do what he did.

I hate people like that (the ones who reported the kid). Sometimes I think they do something not because they're scared, they just want to get him into trouble. Seriously, didn't they see a BRIGHT ORANGE DAY-GLOW TIP on the front of the barrel?
