Update

Year 2

The old Pedal to the Metal building is being gutted to make room for TWO new attractions!

People were crowding into the old queue to get a peek of what's going down on the inside.

I don't know about you, but I won't really miss this ride.

Track was being hauled out of the building all day. I've been told it's going to the scrap yard.

The building's roof has been lowered by about 10 feet.

The building is being split down the middle to make room for the two new attractions.

They will both open for the Year 3 season.

On the other side of the building, it looks like another stage is going up...

The real question is - what will go in on the other side???

More soon.

Work concluded on the park yesterday. The download will be posted after the Year 5 season ends.

No, the park won't "close" after Year 5, I'll just be moving on to another park. I will leave the doors open so that I can come back to the park later if I want.

Year 3 Announcement

MEMPHIS - Two new major attractions are opening this coming season at Rock n' Soul Memphis.

BEALE STAGE ONE

Beale Stage One will be one of the park's largest stages, with a capacity of over 300 people. The stage will be opened by Memphis' own legendary B.B. King in weekly concerts throughout the season, followed by other special bands.

THE KING

Travel back through time and experience Elvis' life first hand. This unique "trackless" ride system will take riders through various scenes of the king's life, including the backwoods of Tupelo, Mississippi. The ride will travel through different stardom scenes showing different aspects of his life. The three minute ride will be located near the far-end of Beale Street.

Beale Stage One's entrance. Looks familiar, doesn't it?

Here's some old shots of The King construction - the old ice cream shop will eventually become the entrance.

I was told this is where the "backwoods" scene will take place.

I wouldn't really call this ride system "trackless".

The old Pedal to the Metal queue area was basically abandoned. Nothing occupies it.

GRAND OPENING DAY

Whoa, that is a nice logo.

The ride is great, very "slow-moving", but great for all ages.

One of the final scenes is the graveyard scene, which is pretty depressing.

The "time trams" are pretty cool, the give the feeling that there's no track...

...but there's definitely a track.

In other news, Mighty Mississippi finally had its sign installed, so now people really know what they're gonna ride.

More soon.

Cool update, the Elvis dark ride looks awesome. But you should remove the default entrance signs for The King and Mighty Missisippi, and move the lamp post that is blocking MM's entrance.

Update

Year 3

Oh yeah, this year they also added this bridge to increase traffic flow to the other side of Mud Island.

So now the park is a complete loop.

The new bridge offers up a great new place to get shots of Heartbreaker.

The logo for The King is very well done.

Zippin Pippin is still doing alright...

It seems to be slowing a bit from when it first reopened.

The park is adding in a couple of small additions this year.

Mighty Mississippi Eatery being one of them.

The Mud Island area needed a sitdown place to eat.

It provides another great place to watch Heartbreaker.

I was told to look for two more smaller rides to go in sometime this year...

More soon.

Year 3

Hey, so much has happened in the last month! It's crazy, but I finally grabbed some shots on closing day.

The two rides were installed a couple months ago, this being one: I-40 Scramble.

Also added: Tilt-a-Whirl, just like at Libertyland.

A flock of people getting off Hearbreaker.

They added in a small section about Zippin Pippin into The King audio. (you know it was Elvis' favorite ride)

I hate closing day, it marks the point of 5 months without the park.

I wish it was a year round park, but the winters here can be brutal.

Zippin Pippin's wood is really beginning to fade.

It's still a cool ride, though.

Everyone begins to file out...

But I got to go back and check out the land clearing for the "major attraction and section" going in for the Year 4 season!

More soon.

Update

Offseason Year 3

Year 4 is still pretty far away, but I got a shot of some construction and I'm officially hyped for next year:

The park was open yesterday for a corporate day and they've already got a head start on the next coaster.

Looks like a racing/dueling to me. Any guesses?

THE RIDE IS ANNOUNCED TOMORROW.

Hustle & Flow is getting some rehab this offseason...

More soon!
