ginzo
I was queing for Tornado at Stricker's Grove back in July, very shortly after the SOB accident. I remember overhearing some teenaged kid in line claim that "SOB jumped the track" and "a bunch of people died". Why bother to correct someone that dense? The concept of underfriction wheels is completely lost on the GP. They seem to think that "jumping the track" is a common occurence, failing to realize that John Miller solved that problem in 1919. FLIPDUDE
I actually heard something about Robb. I talekd to some coaster enthusiast on the exit form Nitro, and the topic of Robb Alvey was brough tup by me. and he said he has a very negative opinion on him, and told me that because he keeps snooping around where parks dont allow it, or sneaks video cams or whatever, some parks have banned him. recently I talked to robb and he was all "Oh, another rumor about me? what is it this time?" I told him the rumor and he said its completely false! XD now why would people make up stupid rumors like that? also, I heard my fair share of talks about crashes and accidents on rides that never happened. Luxo
I've heard this in the line for Xcelerator... "Hey man, did you know that this is the second tallest coaster in the world?" "Really?" "Yeah, but the tallest is like, in Brazil, it goes 1000 MPH and 7000 feet!!!" "Isn't that how tall that Superman ride at Magic Mountain is...?" "Naw man, that's only like 5000 feet." FlyingScooter
^^LOL, At Cp last fall, we were in line for MF and some chick she heard Robb Alvey married Betty White. I said: you mean elissa white? the lady's like: What's the differance? Oh, about 100yrs or so.

I heard that the SOB crash was due to the Alveys distracting the ride ops with their cameras, like the Princess Di tragedy only with a coaster. ECZenith
People make up stupid rumors like that because of pure jealousy of their travels and superior website. As far as my favorite typical line-goer comment- the ones where people see inverted coasters for the first time and say: "Oh mah gawd they start off upside down???" Best one was great bear at Hersheypark, this guy's jaw hit the floor when he first saw it.
timetrial3141592
My favorite line: At SFNE, I heard someone ask the ride op for the Mind Eraser, "How do I get to X?" I couldn't resist. I said, "Head past Thunderbolt and leave the park. Get in your car and drive to Logan. Buy a ticket for LAX. When you get there, rent a car and drive north on I-5 until you see signs for SFMM. Follow them. Park, enter SFMM, and head left and across the bridge, and you're there."

307
Man, that CoasterBuzz topic really annoyed the crap out of me. Guy 1 "Here's my story. I pulled out an ACE card! LOLZ WHAT A MORON THAT GUY WAS." Guy 2 "You're the moron, you stupid fat acer! Eat more brownies!" Guy 3 "Yeah what an idiot, talking about how you like coasters to the general public! What's wrong with you? I *never* do that!!!" Guy 4 "Talking about coasters in public, especially in a place where there are rollercoasters? LOLZ YOU STUPID COW." Guy 5 "I can't believe how stupid you are! I hate talking about coasters!" Guy 6 "Here's my less-stupid story and how I just blow those comments off." Guy 7 "People think you're a nerd if you talk about coasters!" Ugh. Talk about being ashamed of something you love --- I rarely ever point out to people that their facts are wrong while in line. Sometimes, Nikki and I will discuss it after they've left and laugh about it. Generally, the only time we'll ever interrupt or join a conversation is when people are talking about coasters they've been on at other parks. Once in awhile people will join in our conversation when we're doing it. We're not "ashamed" to discuss coasters we've been on or places we've been. What's wrong with travelling to other parks? Sure, some people might look at you strangely, but who cares? Do what you want! --- The funniest thing we've ever heard was when we were waiting to get into Holiday World, and this backwater hick family were discussing Raven and Legend, and how Raven is "nine feet tall" and Legend "must be ten or more." That was pretty good.
