thrillrideseeker Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Ok I just got No Limits, and I have no idea what I am doing. How do I make a coaster? Like I am at this big green screen. How do I just make a station? ~Matthew
spaceace12 Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Just do the tutorial, or play with it, you will figure it out.
thrillrideseeker Posted April 14, 2007 Author Posted April 14, 2007 How do I start the tutorial? ~Matthew
Guest Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 The help file (in the editor, help > help) is what he means by tutorial i suppose. There is a run-through of the editor's functions along with pictures to help explain it. One word of advice though, READ IT. Don't skim through, you may (and probably will) miss something important. Also, look how the prebuilt tracks are made. The will give you a (decent) understanding of how to shape the segments and such. But as said, the best to do is READ (don't skim!) the help file.
jimbobcoaster Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 I'm not too sure how to start the tutorial, but I will try to help you out. First, look at the top of the screen and find "Segment" and scroll down to click "Station". Next, click to button next to the arrow that says "add" and shows a vertex. To make the station, click any distance from the arrow as you want the length to be and if it isn't straight, try to straighten it or have the track highlighted, right click and scroll down to "make straight". (remember to look at it from different views to make sure it looks the way you want it...) After that, on a side angle, go back to "Segment" and find "Lift". Do the same thing and add another vertex that is out and a little up from the station, making it a certain steepness that you want by adjusting the vertex or whatever. Then, just like the station, click out and up, continuing the general steepness of the lift, right click and press "make straight". This all may be confusing, but after that point, you have to just play with it. That's the easiest way to do it. At first I didn't think I would ever be able to make a coaster, but upon practice, its really not that bad anymore! I'm sorry, that was probably incredibly confusing, but continue to ask questions if you need help, and have fun!
thrillrideseeker Posted April 14, 2007 Author Posted April 14, 2007 He guys thanks for the help. It is midnight and I am tired so I am going to bed. I will work with it more tomorrow, mabey I will be able to make something that resembles a coaster! ~Matthew
AlmereStars Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 the "help" section is great, but after you have read it, don't get angry if your first coaster still turns out to be crap it's a pretty complex program, but if you understand it after making a couple of coasters it's actually pretty simple
Steffen_Dk Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 You can change the segments in under "Segment", or you can click: Ctrl+1 to get a normal track Ctrl+2 to get a station track Ctrl+3 to get transport track Ctrl+4 to get a lift track Ctrl+5 to get a brake track When you have chosen the track you want, click on "Add Vertex and segment (to end)". It's in the second row and it's a blue stick with a red circle. Hope it helped
DRACHEN_FIRE_FAN-BOY Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 does anyone know how to get rid of the red on the bottom of the B&M sit down?
Goliath513 Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 ^^A nice shortcut for that is by pressing V while building. That automatically switches to the "add to end of track"
Guest Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 does anyone know how to get rid of the red on the bottom of the B&M sit down? Work on your track shaping (lager radius pullout) and better manage your speed.
BorisTF Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 does anyone know how to get rid of the red on the bottom of the B&M sit down? Work on your track shaping (lager radius pullout) and better manage your speed. I think he meant on the trains To do that, you'd have to change the car texture.
Guest Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Ohhh lmao... Sorry about that. Yeah all that my advice will do is give you a tamer ride, no so much make your trains look better. Sorry... lol.
Sunfire Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 I remember when I was in your place thrillrideseeker. When I first got No Limits, I was like, "how the heck am I supposed to make rides with this? But after reading tutorials and messing around with the tools I got used to it. Don't worry, you will too, thrillrideseeker.
thrillrideseeker Posted April 16, 2007 Author Posted April 16, 2007 OK! So I have a new question. Where do you get the pictures that you take in NL? Like if I took a screen shot. Where do I find it at? This is so differant than RCT3. Help please! ~Matthew
Guest Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 C:\Program Files\NoLimits Coasters v1.6\screenshots All the screens are defaulted to lossless BMP, so you may want to convert to jpeg for filesize reason. Do this by simply opening in paint and saving as a jpeg.
thrillrideseeker Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 Yeah...ummm no. Not a single one of them showed up in that folder. It just said "This Folder Is Empty" ~Matthew
Guest Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 You can just press K to take a screen in the sim, and they'll show up in that folder that I mentioned.
texashorns82492 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Fraps is a program that can be used to show FPS, take video, or take screen shots with, its a fun thing to have.
thrillrideseeker Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 You can just press K to take a screen in the sim, and they'll show up in that folder that I mentioned. Are you sure? Because mine like so never showed up ~Matthew
Guest Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I've been using NoLimits for almost 3 years, and the screenshots have always saved to that (well, taking the NL version into account) folder. The K key is the default for taking screens.
