Sir Clinksalot Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 If you see change on the ground, don't pick it up, it's not yours. What store will you be in? We will be at PGA on the 28th.
SharkTums Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 Don't tell anyone you are a coaster enthusiast! Elissa "seriously" Alvey
Meteornotes Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 ^Agreed. The main thing is not to let people get to you, as you're going to be witnessing some of the most obnoxious behavior in human history. Stay calm no matter how much some maniac is screaming or complaining. Never let them get you flustered. Good luck... dt
c0sterfreek Posted May 17, 2005 Author Posted May 17, 2005 HaHa Thanks for the tips guys. And to answer your question What store will you be in? We will be at PGA on the 28th." I wont be there yet. My training is on the 26th and then 2 weeks later it’ll get my uniform THEN I start working. It’ll let you guys know when I start so u can come visit me 8). Thanks again everyone. Chris
PhishyBrewer Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 TRANSFER TO RIDES ASAP! Try to get on Top Gun. That crew needs help. While I was there last Sunday, the operator in the control room was listening to his IPod. Then when they rotated, he hopped on a train and rode the ride. WTF! If you did that at Cedar Point, your ass would be so fired!
calcajun Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Chris, Be kind, courteous and caring towards your guests. No doubt you will be frustrated or angry sometimes but don't let it show and let it go as quickly as possible. Your cash drawer should always balance to the penny! Never be over or under. Either way it can raise suspicion of theft. Ask questions and give your ideas. Keep your shop neat and rearrange shelves after guests browse through. Basically you should just be a model employee and show some leadership skills. If you do so, by the end of the season or start of next, you could get a supervisor position. The above generally would be my advice for most any department in the park. If you are a good employee with some leadership skill it is very easy to move into a supervisory position. Try to have some fun at work and interact with your guests! Good luck.
PhishyBrewer Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 And no matter how many times you hear the same questions, always act like it's the first time you've heard. Like, when's it going to stop raining?
c0sterfreek Posted June 16, 2005 Author Posted June 16, 2005 Just to update you guys, i now work in the Candy Café. That’s located by the Swings and the Vortex. CoasterEricHP Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Very cool! I worked at Disney (Grand Flo) and Universal (Dragons) for awhile and even though people can be really really dumb sometimes it's still a great job to have. As far as advice goes.. just be prepared to answer the same stupid questions all day. It's annoying, but if you have the right attitude with guests and are good about it, and your job.. it's not hard to get recognized for that and even move up. One piece of advice to ANYONE out there is when youre in college.. take a semester off (I got 16 credits) and check out the Walt Disney World College Program (www.wdwcollegeprogram.com). Not only was I getting CREDIT for working at Disney and having fun, you meet tons of awesome people too. Plus it opens doors for you.. my old roommate now works for the Disney Design Group, my roommate last year is now the Events Coordinator at the Yacht and Beach Club, and my otherrr friend is about to get management up here at the Hershey Lodge.. so even if you dont stay in Disney, it'll open up TONS of doors for you. So even if your job gets really boring and old eventually.. just keep in mind that in a few years you could be doing something really awesome that will all start with you working in merchandise. c0sterfreek Posted June 16, 2005 Author Posted June 16, 2005 LOl The dumbest and the funniest so far was that i was working at a smaller store for the day by myself and then someone asked me "Do your work here?" I thought to myself "I’m the ONLY one here and im wearing the PGA shirt hmmm..." I wanted to say no but I knew I would get in trouble but when they left I just found myself laughing. And they most common one is "Whereas the nearest Restroom?” But overall most of the people are pretty cool.

Robbie Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 (edited) Glad your having fun, but anyway one thing I would advise is if you hear anything about a new attraction or anything DO NOT post it, I've actually hear of people getting fired for stuff like that if your caught.
