J-Man Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 After 50 years on TV, Game Show legend Bob Barker, host of the "Price is Right" has announced that he will retire in June 2007... I grew up watching bob on the price is right, and i still watch it when ever i can get a chance now...its going to be sad without Bob...
Beate's Freak Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 My favorite Bob moment was when he fought Adam Sandler in "Happy Gilmore"! But seriously i know the people grew up watching Bob Barker and The Price is Right, and i'm glad he's retiring because I think he deserves to relax for a long long time....
pagemaster_b Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 It's sad to see him retiring. I grew-up watching the Price is Right, too. It's hard to see anyone else as the show's host. It will be difficult to find a good replacement.
USRoadTripper Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 I went to the taping of the Price is Right 30th anniversary show in 2001. As crazy and dorky as it sounds, it was one of the coolest things I've ever done! I grew up watching that show my entire life, and to actually be there in the audience, praying that I was gonna be called on down was truly something I'll remember forever!! Anyone who gets a chance should definitely go see a taping of this show! And am I the only one of the opinion that they should just cancel The Price is Right after Bob Barker's retirement? No one could ever replace him as host of that show, and I don't think anyone should even try. -Julie
RCTfan Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 I need to get to California soon then. As a kid, I would watch the Price is Right instead of any kid show. My mom always tells me that. I've loved Game Shows forever. I'd love to be his replacement! California Trip now planning. Just for TPiR!
borjoyzee Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 My favorite Bob moment was when he fought Adam Sandler in "Happy Gilmore"! totaly agree with you.
ECZenith Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 OMG... that is the BEST part of that movie! Actually, it's probably the best part of any Adam Sandler movie. The price is wrong-B*TCH!!
cfc Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 For me, no college break was complete until my Dad and I watched at least one episode of The Price Is Right. I'm sure Dad will be a little bummed that Bob's retiring.
FlyingScooter Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 It's the end of an age. I remember episodes when people went nuts over winning an Am/Fm/Cassette radio from SoundDesign. like 25 yrs ago. He's keeping busy though: https://bobbarker.com/web/default.asp

That and a years supply of Ready Pop Popcorn.
FlyingScooter Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 LOL, forgot about the Popcorn! Yeah, 8-tracks in Console Stereos! ( the gorgeous blonde slowly moves her delicate hand across the polished wood veneer.
SonOfBeastSucks Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 I read about it in the paper this morning, this is very disappointing. And am I the only one of the opinion that they should just cancel The Price is Right after Bob Barker's retirement? No one could ever replace him as host of that show, and I don't think anyone should even try. I totally agree.
