dandaman Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Well, it's pretty much as the subtitle says. Remind me never to go tp CP on a Halloweekends Saturday again. To give you some indication on how packed it was, Magnum was an hour and a half's wait. My friend and I didn't end up doing any Halloweekend walk-throughs or houses, but I do have a lot of Maverick shots, so keep reading! More Millennium goodness There's a Visine for that. Goodbye, shiny Maverick! See you next May! Obligatory garage photo. (Horse stable, as it were.) Intamin's new element: Twisted Horseshoe Roll Into Scorching Fireball. If Maverick has sexy curves, are these considered its boobs? At least I got a couple of train shots. An hour wait for the timber death machine that is Mean Streak? No, thanks. (And thankfully, my friend agreed.) Used casket, anyone? *GASP* Dave Chapelle is dead?! ACEr: "'Buffet'? WHERE?!" ...All right, all right, bad joke. Don't lose your head over it. Just doin' the Monster Mash. There we are! Almost... Derek: Almost... This ride... it spin around. I'm too good for the "real" sign. Next was MaXair, which thankfully was less than a half-hour. Some Giant Wheel pics Aah... the Holy Grail for coaster enthusiasts! Probably my favourite shot. More Intaminness Hour and a half for Wicked Twister? Uh... no, thanks. (But my friend had never been on, and thus I stood for 90 precious minutes anyway.) Happy used car salesman says, "GIMME SOME DIMES!" From this shot, there’s at least 3 cars from the retired Dodgem ride, 2 go-karts, and even the Dracular from “Munster Go Home!” If this sign ever goes up on Ebay, I’m so buying it. *sigh*… If only it wasn’t a 2-hour wait to ride you… Bones just chillin' Well, pretty much everyone has this shot… I went one step further by failing to even get a train in it. SIDEHAWK! Maverick and its sexy curves. This will be quite the photogenic ride come next May. ...There we go. This shot needs more Maverick. Yep… that’s a beyond vertical drop! Best. Element. Ever. "Blinded by the light..." ..But Skyhawk with one arm? WTF?! (Note: I checked around, and most people said it wasn't broken, it just wasn't running.) Lines were up to an hour. Okay, so Gemini running one side wasn't too out of the ordinary... In doctor speak, here's TTD's spinal column. TTD seemed to have been running surprisingly well this season. ...My eyes hurt. It’s calling to me… Meh. Huzzah Airtime heaven NINETY-PLUS DEGREES!!! OMG nerd shot! Intaminness All we need is Iron Dragon to complete the McDonald's CP layover. I wonder how the Sandusky Blue Streaks feel to be compared to a coaster that pummels its riders. (Pretty good, I'd think!) If that trunk was 10 feet over, it really would be a "coaster through the tree" shot! Little did people realize that Cedar Point buried all its line jumpers… Y’know, I really should get that now before the rush starts. New York’s, Chicago’s, Los Angeles’… no skyline in the world compares to this. Pretty good pizza buffet. We didn't have a lot of time in the park as it were, but it was closed for the season anyway. ...Yay! Almost… Great Wolf Lodge. With Kalahari, I think this puts the indoor waterpark count at 3 or 4. Unfortunately (and though you can’t tell from this), it was stop and go traffic for about an hour. We were “supposed” to get to the park around 11:30, and ended up there two hours later. We’d been making good time, right up until we got off the Turnpike. Then it took us 15 minutes to get through there, but at least I saw a sign of relief.
dandaman Posted October 17, 2006 Author Posted October 17, 2006 Just a few to go. Well, strangely, this was my final pic of the day. The only highlights were my first TTD night ride (less than an hour's wait!) Thanks for reading. Derek, if you look at this at the right angle, it looks just like a vertical loop! More Raptor
IwantRevenge Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Is it jsut me or do all the pic of TTD make the tower seem lopsided?
Carnage Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Well, it's pretty much as the subtitle says. Remind me never to go tp CP on a Halloweekends Saturday again. To give you some indication on how packed it was, Magnum was an hour and a half's wait. Halloweekend saturday's fill the park to capacity if the weather is half way decent. That's why I always tell people to foget halloweekends and go bonus weekends in September. You don't get the halloween stuff, but you do get walk on conditions on almost all the rides.
Guest Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Very nice photos! I was there on Saturday, also. I was lucky enough to get Resort "early entrance" with walk-ons. It was insanely crowded later in the day, however. There must have been quite a LONG line for Dragster at park closing because we ate at Friday's til about 12:45 a.m. and it was still going stong when we headed to our room.
easytoremember Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I remember when I went during Halloween-Party-thing they were playing "Monster Mash" in a continuous loop it seemed like. Sounds like you had fun despite long lines!
Chase Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Oh sweet, I bet you we're like a kid in a Candy Shop. Look at The Dragster.
dandaman Posted October 17, 2006 Author Posted October 17, 2006 That's why I always tell people to foget halloweekends and go bonus weekends in September. You don't get the halloween stuff, but you do get walk on conditions on almost all the rides. That's what I did (twice, actually) 2 years ago. Last year I went on an October Sunday, so I had that crowd mindset. ...Waaaaay off this time. In any case, I'll try my hardest to get the family to drive me on a Sunday instead. (Heck, I could do Challenge Park on the Saturday and make it a three-day weekend. )
Real Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Nice pictures and nice TR!! Too bad neither one of us got each other in a photo. Im still waiting for that day I catch myself taking pictures in someone elses photos on here. Carnage, its not the entire weekend thats bad. JUST Saturday. Ive never been there on a Friday where MF or TTD were over 30 minutes and Ive never been there on a Sunday where I couldnt walk onto one of those rides at some point. And its never gotten bad at all on a Sunday. Its just Saturday. Avoid it like your mother in law.
cprocks22 Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Is it jsut me or do all the pic of TTD make the tower seem lopsided? It's Sinking Very nice Trip Report, i like the pictures of Maverick all new and shiney (OOO SHINEY!!).

And its never gotten bad at all on a Sunday. Yes, I realize the saturday is the bad day. I've had walk on conditions on the Sunday as well. But my point is still valid that it's better to go during bonus weekends when the entire weekend has short lines.
vjgx Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Great pictures! And if the MF sign ever gets on eBay, you might have to fight me for it.
Golfie Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Great photos! Nice TR. I loved seeing all of the photos of Maverick - so glad that next year will be my first trip there.
dandaman Posted October 18, 2006 Author Posted October 18, 2006 Its just Saturday. Avoid it like your mother in law. Though not quite my choice of words (albeit a great choice), what he said. And if the MF sign ever gets on eBay, you might have to fight me for it. It'd probably be out of my price range anyway.
Chris Benvenuto Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 I went on September 10th, Same as always. Walk-on's for most of the smaller rides. I'm talking Gemini, Raptor and Magnum etc. But, TTD was closed so MF had an hour wait and when WT opened and I got my first ride, it was 1/2 hour all afternoon.
