Cameron Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Nice photos guys, I miss you! Next year .. Next year I'll make it to PPP (I do say that every year .. but this time I'm saying it with a lot more vigor!) Cameron.
ECZenith Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Nice TR, forgive my ignorance but what is "House Bastard"?
Carnage Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 ^ Hocus Pocus at Chessington. The sign from certain angles makes it look like "House Bastard".
TPDave Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Nice TR! About the whole "2 adults to a car" thing, the rules changed recently as far as i'm aware because at Chessington, the rattlesnake and dragons fury have had the 2 adults per car thing...
SharkTums Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 In June we rode Dragons Fury and Rattlesnake with 4 of us per car.
Shockwave Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 I've never known any Maurer Wild Mouse to have that rule. Having 4 adults in one car couldn't break one of those things! Now 4 ACErs, and then they should get worried...providing they fit in the train first.
Ed Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Dragons Fury currently has a "no riders" policiy... Due to the restraints opening halfway round the track.. No joke! Oh and Nicole. I'd totally do you.
niiicolaaah Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Nice TR! About the whole "2 adults to a car" thing, the rules changed recently as far as i'm aware because at Chessington, the rattlesnake and dragons fury have had the 2 adults per car thing... Yeah, cause rules in the US and UK are the same. lol. It's not manufacturer's recommendations. It's park operations being dumb.
Carnage Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Dragons Fury currently has a "no riders" policiy... Due to the restraints opening halfway round the track.. No joke! How many rides have had major brakedowns now since TPR came through??
Hercules Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 It's not manufacturer's recommendations. It's park operations being dumb. Are you calling Dorney Park dumb! How dare you!
Carnage Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Are you calling Dorney Park dumb! How dare you! How could a park that has a trash can every two feet be dumb?
niiicolaaah Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 ^^Jay... come on.. you think Dorney is dumb too. HERCULES FOOTERS (hehehe... he's probably crying now! )
DerekRx Posted October 10, 2006 Author Posted October 10, 2006 Yeah, Dorney has had that policy in effect pretty much since the ride opened, and the restraints are different from the ones found on Fury and the other spinners. I know I've ridden the same model at other parks, Wild Adventures, Oktoberfest fair, and we've had 4 adults in a car and no one exploded or flew off the ride. If the park wants to compete with now sister parks PKD or PKI for worst capacity, maybe they should look at getting a Hypersonic or Batflyer instead!
TAZville Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Nice TR! Yeah, cause rules in the US and UK are the same. lol. It's not manufacturer's recommendations. It's park operations being dumb. I would bet it's more likely that the insurance carrier suggested the rule. I would also bet that's the reason for no lapbelts on Knoebels and being able to abuse the Phlyers to that extent. A corporate park has alot more rules to follow.
Hercules Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 That is true alfundo. That is why Hercules got trims put on it because it was too rough. That is why Mean Streak has trims. That is probably why there is going to be a trim after the launch on Maverick. That is why there are trims all over the place at Valleyfair!. It is Cedar Fair insurance. They are just playing it safe. However, it is also a product of being in the United States as Nicole said. We are a society where everyone gets sued for the smallest things. We are a society where people can not be trusted around a flat ride until it has a fence around it. Welcome to the United States. This is one thing that I don't really blame Cedar Fair for. They are a lot more strict than some of the other corporate chains, but I can understand it. What I do blame them for is turning their parks into generic clones of each other. And if someone makes an argument that a park in their chain isn't like that yet (say, Worlds of Fun), believe me, it is in the process. I blame them for making decisions that cause a parks history to go up in smoke. I blame them for taking the fun out of the amusement park experience. I want the days of Alfundo back - Allentown/Fun/Dorney Sorry about the random rant. We can keep talking about insurance now.
Carnage Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 ^ Mean Streak being trimmed had nothing to do with insurance. It was because the ride was tearing itself apart and was costing >$250,000/year to maintain.
TAZville Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 no problem Hercules, id expect it from you and as usual i agree with everything youve said. but as you also know, for the most part i like what CF has done to Dorney, im just thankful to have Knoebels in close proximity to relive my memories of what Dorney used to be in my youth. i wish i woulda bumped into you at PPP, maybe next year ill have to dress up as alfundo

It was because the ride was tearing itself apart and was costing >$250,000/year to maintain. Well yes, but I believe it was also for insurance reasons too. Hercules was the same way. It was tearing itself up. However, even after the trims it was a lot of cost to maintain. So, I think it was partically for insurance reasons too, as it was really rough and there were complaints from riders.
Guest Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 derek and nicole it was nice to meet you this weekend. Knoelbels was great but dorney was the worst halloween event that I have ever been to.
