Hattuchili
PTR: Carnival Cruise to the Bahamas - Part 1 No coaster, but a ride on a water slide. Does it count? Hey guys, I made it back from Nassau! Alessandra and I were on a Bahamas cruise from Miami to Nassau and back in 4 days. We booked it at Carnival and it was really awesome! Our ship was the MS Fascination. There we had a nice stateroom with ocean view on deck number 7! The ship itself was really good and the food was excelent! We could eat there 24 hours (Robb, that would be something for you )! They had some nice shows, a Casino (I lost 10 dollars), a few shops, nice pools, and all the good restaurants! It was our first cruise and we really liked it! I am sure we will go again anytime! So, onto the pictures: P.s. I have so many pictures, so I will post everything in 3 parts! The 2nd Part will be about Nassau! Thanks --Sören Isn´t that cute! Every evening we found a little towel surprise in our room! ... ... The ship in the evening! Have I said that I love desserts!? After that we went to the dinning room for our dinner! Where I need 1 hour to rest... That is our way to the cabin! I like the view. ... ... Bye bye Miami! After the training, it was time to leave! Okay, after the drink they send us all to the safty training! Okay, the ship is still in the port of Miami and we needed a drink! The water slide Pool area Before you forget the name of the ship! What was the name of the cruiseline again? The Lobby Yes, we made it! On the way to Miami Our Ship
jamesdillaman
Nice pics, Soren. I would've posted it in the Random Forum, but it looks like you had a great time. Julia and I are looking for honeymoon ideas, and a cruise was something we hadn't even thought about until we saw this. -James Dillaman
disneyfan1313
Looks like you had a great time! You *need* to try Disney Cruise Line though.. it blows carnival away.. And with the CM discount you can't beat it!
goleafsgo
cool. i just got back from a carnival cruise to nassau aswell, except we were left from cape canaveral... i think our boat was the sensation.
bigstevet07
Yeah you definitely need to try the Disney Cruise. Especially is you can get a discount for a TM. We went there on our honeymoon and it absolutely blew us away!
Homer
Looks like you had a great time! You *need* to try Disney Cruise Line though.. it blows carnival away.. And with the CM discount you can't beat it! QFT'd, although I can't say anything about the CM discount. However, I had a blast on Disney Cruise Line back when I was 10. Snorkeling at Castaway Cay was great, I remember I almost got stung by a giant manta ray (The stinger was like, a few inches away from my goggles). BeemerBoy
You *need* to try Disney Cruise Line though.. it blows carnival away.. And with the CM discount you can't beat it! Good point. My brother's a WDW CM, and he's taken several Disney Cruises over the last five years or so....each for 50% off, or something like that (don't quote me). Disney cruises are great, only if you don't mind the huge number of kids on board. Carnival's okay for a quick hop to the Bahamas, but anything beyond that deserves Princess Cruise Line. Anyway, glad you enjoyed your first trip on the seas, Soren!

Hattuchili
Photo TR: Carnival Cruise to the Bahamas - Part 2 Is this really Nassau on the Bahamas? Hey guys, on day 2 we arrived Nassau on the Bahamas early in the morning! So, I woke up, opened the window and saw Nassau from the port side! It was so amazing! Then first we had a good breakfast! After that we left the ship and made a boat trip to Pearl Island. There we made a tour around the Atlantis Hotel, which was awesome! All in all was it a wonderful day on the Bahamas and in the evening we had some great food at the Captains Dinner! P.s. More pictures tomorrow in Part 3! Thanks --Sören After that we made it back to the ship! The historical part! And I found Starbucks (in the window you see our ship)! Yep... Back in Nassau and we found the Hard Rock Cafe Nassau! bigstevet07
Great pics of Atlantis. I just love that hotel. It kind of stinks that you can't go to the waterslides unless you are staying there or you pay for an excursion. I definitely want to stay there one of thse years. We went there while we were with the Disney cruise.

Disney cruises are great, only if you don't mind the huge number of kids on board. Carnival's okay for a quick hop to the Bahamas, but anything beyond that deserves Princess Cruise Line. If you go on a Disney cruise with a CM on the Disney cruise, depending on time of year etc. I want to say the last 4 night one I did was like 575 on Magic out of Port C, and that was for 2 people not each, plus it also includes the tips. *How is Princess cruise line? I have heard both good and bad? It's always cool to see people go on their first cruise, and I'm glad you guys had a great time. It's kind of one of those you love it or hate kind of trips. But for your next Cruise like others have said I would look into some of the other cruise lines, and get far away from Freeport and Nassau. And nothing less then 5 nights min. Disney is ok for a family cruise and Disney does have great food!!!! But not for a couple without kids, I mean you can have a lot of fun, I got drunk and am proud of the mark I left on the top deck "Don't egg on the russian bartenders, bad bad idea" Royal Caribbean I have been the most happy with, the food however is not the best, but the ships, damn the ships are awesome and will make up for any short coming, stay with the voyager class of ships or of course freedom . Freedom of the seas is the best ship in the industry right now by far. Mariner of the seas is a beautiful ship and the shows are very good, just stay away from the art auctions (I'm still having problems sitting). The shore excursions are not that expensive and offers tons of them many more then Disney. So congrats on your first cruise. You know thats what you guys on this group should do, a TPR cruise. I'm sure theres a small coaster on one of the island ports of call and with some decent volume you should get a great rate offering. Cheers! BeemerBoy
Carnival's okay for a quick hop to the Bahamas, but anything beyond that deserves Princess Cruise Line. *How is Princess cruise line? I have heard both good and bad? To answer the question about Princess, I'll be honest and say that suprisingly, after living in Fort Lauderdale for 28 years before moving north, I never once took a cruise. BUT, I worked in the yachting industry for many years. And when you're lucky to use other people's multi-million dollar yachts on a daily basis, a big cruise line becomes insignificant. I did, however have many reputable friends in the industry who clued me in to the big cruise lines. All the feedback I ever got was most positive for Princess and Royal Caribbean. You really can't go wrong with either of the two. I've had friends and family who've taken cruises on Princess for both Alaskan and Caribbean routes, and they rave about the quality, accomodations, and value of the cruises they offer. I think the main difference between Princess and Royal is the marketing strategies. Royal obviously has the "Lust for Life" tv spots, and caters to the yuppie crowd, whereas Princess is just the opposite. Anyway, Soren.....GREAT pics of Atlantis!! Looks like you two had a great time there. It's a shame you didn't get to experience the water slides. They really are pretty good ones. You took one pic in particular that caught my eye: I was fortunate enough to deliver that boat (^) to Atlantis for the owner and stay in the slip I pointed out. I love spending other people's money. I think back then they also used to let guests who weren't staying at the hotel or marina use the pool area and slides for like $20 bucks a day, if I remember right. If anyone's visiting there, they may wanna ask about whether the hotel still offers that option. Thanks again for the awesome pics of South Florida and the islands. You need to visit there more often. I love seeing pics of home!

But not for a couple without kids, I mean you can have a lot of fun, I got drunk and am proud of the mark I left on the top deck "Don't egg on the russian bartenders, bad bad idea" I respectfully and wholeheartedly disagree. Having sailed on all the major lines, Disney is by far the fave for this childless couple in our late 20's. We see far less children on Disney cruises than other lines because there is so much for them to do. We find on other lines kids tend to roam the halls in packs bored out of their mind and looking for trouble. You see none of that on Disney. BeemerBoy
^ I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but I'm curious if that also depended on what time of year you were cruising with Disney? I know from what I heard about my brother's trips, they were packed with kids. But then again, they also cruised during spring break and over the summer. So I'm just curious how big a factor that plays?

TexTitan01
Well its good that you got home safe before that massive looking storm on the left of the pic hit! I've never been on a cruise, but they look like they could be really fun. Is the food all-inclusive with the main price? So you could technically eat food all day? Hattuchili
^ Yes, you can eat and drink (mostly juice and water) 24 hours a day. They have really everything there you can dream of! --Sören
aslinterpreter
Hey Soren, did you like the people you ate dinner with? Or did you have a private table? As for the disney line compared to the other LARGE ships, it has to be right up there at the top, but none of the big ships can compare to the smaller ships out there. the personal service and atmosphere is unmatched. My wife and I have worked for the cruise lines for several years and when we have a choice on which ship to work we will pick the smaller lines each time, not even considering the destinations. I can tell you that you know even during the slow times that there are tons of kids aboard DCL (you see them at large gatherings like the Pirate party and the Sail Away Party) but you don't see them throughout the day and late into the evening. (actually planning my wedding aboard DCL as we speak! )
