siminko Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Hi everybody! I'm Simone from Italy and i'm a coaster fan. I'm planning a trip in the USA in october for visit a park, i'm not sure if it's better LA (magic mountain) or NY (great adventure)... Any suggestion? Thanx a lot and have a great ride.. I'm fresh from Silver Star Ciao
Wes Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Hi Simone, I moved this to the correct forum so you can get better answers. Any theme park related questions should be posted in the "Theme Parks, Roller Coasters & Donkeys" forum. Also, you do not have to attach an image when you post.
siminko Posted July 25, 2006 Author Posted July 25, 2006 Hi Wes! Thanks for your help, it's my first time in a forum so I feel like a virgin Ciao!
ParkTrips Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Don't worry, 90% of the people on this site are virgins.. oh wait, you're using it in a different context I would try to go to NY - there is more to do and better parks. You could do two Six Flags' there if you get a cheap season pass. Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags New England are both very close to New York City.
Reality15 Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Agreed with Park Trips. The east has so many parks in such a little area, it would definately be a good idea to go there. I mean, the parks out west are great and all, but they're much further apart than in the east.
downunder Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 I agree that New York is the better option, in Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags New England you will get some awesome coasting, personally I would go with that if you have to choose. There is also plenty of other good parks around that a little further away. Also NYC has plenty of hostels and cheap accomodation. I will be flying to NYC on 26 Aug, and I will be catching a Greyhound up to Springfield to go to SFNE as a day trip, and Great Adventure on 1 or 2 other days depending on how well I go with El Toro. I'm pretty excited about that. I've been to NYC before, so if you need any recommendations on accomodation or how to get to parks by public transport, let me know.
DailyBugle_JL Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Dont forget almost all amusement parks on the east coast operate on weekends only during october except for sixflags parks which are open friday evening-sun.
speedracer Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 You all forget, it may be a good idea instead for him to visit SFMM while it still exist. At least you all know for certain those other parks will still be there next year.
dougstanton Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 But even if that park is gone soon....no one will miss it

You would probably have a more enjoyable time then you would down here. But, if you like Disney, I would come down here or go to Florida. But overall, I would go to NY. The parks are just better up there. ---Brent
siminko Posted July 26, 2006 Author Posted July 26, 2006 I want to thank you all.. I found nice people just right here.. If you plan to visit Italian park let me know!! I think my trip will be in Ny. I didn't know sfne was near Ny!! Great News!! Ciao[/i]
bgwfreak Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Have you checked out www.rcdb.com ? You can search for a park and then search for parks that are in the surrounding area. Like when you go to the Magic Mountain page then click on "parks nearby" it gives you this. http://www.rcdb.com/locationresult.htm?nearpark=4&pstatus=141 Like SFMM has a ton of parks in the area around LA. But SFGRADV is close to a lot of parks too. I'm just saying if you're coming all this way, be sure and hit a few parks. Anyway, hope you enjoy your time in the States!
socalMAN123 Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 You should have a great time here in the US. I hope it is an awesome trip! ---Brent
