colossus Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Great News I just heard that when mark shapiro went to the sfmm on wednesday. He decided to ride a few of the rides and check out the parks progress so around 2 or 3 pm he gets in colossus line when it was only running one train and he got really angry. so then he said "how does a ride that has 6 trains and 2 tracks only run one train" he ended up waiting in line for about 10 mins or so but he was still pretty angry or so i heard. So i hear he demanded for the ride to be running both sides with two trains on each side by his next visit.
Corkscrewed Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 If I was a ride op, I'd yell back "How does a money making park that has been successful with a consistent demographic get put on the auction block even though it has a bunch of great rides that still draw people into the park????" Of course, I'd never work at SFMM (too far), so I can actually make up this hypothetical situation. Anyway, besides their not caring, chances are that they run only one side because that's all they need to. The coaster barely has a line as it is, and if they ran two sides, they'd have a lot of boring time with the ride ops doing nothing, because no one's in line. That's a waste of salary, if you think about it from the park's side of things.
socalMAN123 Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 ^ Actually, I would think that Colossus would be more popular because the GP would see that it was racing and they would want to go on it more. Of course, the main reason that Scream! and Colossus don't get as much buisness as the other coasters is because they are generally hard to find. They sit out in the front of everything and then people end up not riding them because they are so secluded from everything else. Anyways, I'll find out if it is racing tomorrow. ---Brent

So Colossus will run both sides with at least two trains for one month tops. If that. Then the budget will get cut. That seems to be the way Shapiro likes to do things.
