PKIDelirium Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Ride List: Vortex Adventure Express Top Gun Congo Falls Face/Off Son of Beast recaR Adventure Express Notes: I figured that having never made it to a Nights of Fire before, I would try it this season. I got there around 3:50, and expecting the park to be totally jammed I figured I'd just be doing a photo run and maybe a Vortex ride. Well, it wasn't bad at all! At 8PM, there had been about 28,000 people in the park total, about 21,000 in the park right at 8PM. Met up with Colin (HOYS) and ???(???) after riding Top Gun. (I suck at names!) The Nights of Fire show was pretty good. I set up my tripod at the front of International Street right in front of the front gate building, and fired off a lot of shots. Got a decent number of photos during the day as well, including Nick Parade and the general stuff for the Star Spangled Celebration event. We watched someone get busted under Son of Beast. Some woman had entered the ride area by jumping a fence from the queue, and was walking around under the transfer track and brake run. A security SUV pulled up, and she was quickly introduced to the back seat of it, then they drove off. After they got her out, they were finally able to dispatch. Unfortunately all the park food places closed right as soon as the fireworks ended, so they missed out on getting money from all the people who had been at a hot park all day. Since it was after 11PM by the time we made it out of the parking lot, we went to the only available food option: Taco Bell. Random IJ shot Parade Start CanobieFan might know these people O RLY? Top Gun... Open gate Confusion! HOYS VEKOMA'D Backstage peek UBER PWNT! Nights of Fire gathering
TheKlockster Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Hey Face/Off is a dang good Vekoma! Especially if you start out backwards, in the very back (seat facing drive box).
pianojohn Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 I was there on Monday as well. I had driven up from Roanoke, VA and stopped off at Camden Park for two coaster credits and my dose of white trash for the year! I mean EVERYONE at the park smoked including the guests as well as the ride ops! PKI was not too crowded when I arrived at 4pm. It seemed that everyone was at the water park. so SOB, The Racer, and the Beast were all walk ons. Oh, here is one of the game ops at Camden. And yes, the park had JUST opened, so there was no reason for him to be sleeping! (as if there ever is a reason to be sleeping on the job!)
Jon Sabo Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Nice photo's. The reason why the gate was open is because in the event that 6F park goers and gunshooters decide to come to this park, the mele that ensues would allow those freakish runners/guest to leave the park "in an orderly fashion".
TheKlockster Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Smoking Ride Ops? That sounds like something you would see at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. Actually I don't smoke - but I did take a couple nines in the area between Zephyr and Racer with a friend of mine who does.
okinawaboy11 Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Aw man, atleast ya'll get FoF still. Down at PKD we have a nice big black wall.
