  1. I'd have to say that GhostRider's drop gets me every time. One time my friend Stewart, who was sitting in the next car in front of me (I was in the last seat of the train), said as we topped the second hill, "Well...that was a bit steeper than I thought..." For steel, I don't now if Superman the escape at Magic Mountain qualifies, because it happens backwards, but it's still soooo cool...I mean 6.5+ seconds of ZERO gravity! Well if not that, then It's a bit of a tie between Goliath and X. X looks almost vertical, even though it's only '88.5' or some such thing. I rode that in the front front seat, staring straight down at the ground in the front of a 5 ton train...fun stuff. But Goliath is just so freaking HUGE, that I can't help but not mention that. By the time you're at the bottom of that first hill, you're going so fast that it feels like your hands would be lopped off by that tunnel.
  2. That was fularious! Very similar to that one Boy Meets World episode in which Cory + Feeny go on this new coaster called "The Last Ride." I's made from some really blurred Ninja and Viper clips, ending in a 'swirling torrent of flame.'
  3. I don't have any sound clips, but I love the sound when you come off the top of a B&M without the pre drop, and for just a second you can hear the repeating clicking sound of the anti-rollback thing speed up a little as the coaster starts to get taken over by gravity. If you watch the Tatsu clips, you can really hear it.
  4. Did anyone here actually vote for a Cobra Roll? I think those are better on inverts than on a normal configuration.
  5. Is there gonna be another contest? Or should I just start one myself?
  6. The new water effects look INSANE! That looks totally real! I should have a second video hardware card...just for NoLimits.
  7. I've been wondering, what's the deal with this 'zero car'? I mean what is it, etc... Did the Eric Berra fellow mention what his favorite ride is? Or any other coaster-related opinions?
  8. ^ |___That would be really cool! Especially since I missed the Tatsu Campout
  9. I don't know if youv'e been on X recently or not, but I was just on it about two months ago, and it was super smooth - no bumps, no headbanging, NOTHING- GLASS SMOOTH ride. I've heard that they've changed the cars three times or something like that to try and improve.
  10. Concerning money, the food/souveneir type items don't make a ton of money, because they mostly pay back the costs of buying that stuff, but even eliminating that, think about how much money they make per day. If 10,000 people went every day, paying $60 a person, that'd be $21,000,000 dollars in 35 days. Now I know that there are tons of maintinence costs, paying employees, etc.etc.etc... but they're still paying off Tatsu pretty fast. And concerning Flashback, I hope they fix it up, because I've never been on it, and hear that even though it isn't the most comfortable ride around, it's still fun. Plus, it's cool to say "I've been on Intamin's ONLY space diver model." And if they get rid of it, there's really no chance of riding one unless you go and buy one yourself. They could really improve Flashback if they got some cool B&M trains. The only problem (at least I've heard this, I dunno if it's true or not) is that because of that tightly packed support structure, your hands would get lopped off it you held your arms up, so the cars had to be designed so you couldn't do that. Basically what I'm saying is that Magic Mountain has lots of potential possibilities, it's just probably not where they're gonna spend money for a while.
  11. Ok this thread is about what songs you like, or would like, to listen to on roller coasters. There are some songs that would just be perfect coastin' songs in my mind. My list of the best riding songs is: House of the Rising Sun (The Animals) Hotel California (The Eagles) Great Balls of Fire (Jerry Lee Lewis) Theme from Jurrassic Park (John Williams) Summer in the City (Originally by the Lovin' Spoonful, but I think the Quincy Jones version is better for coasters) Speed of Sound (Coldplay) In making a [possibly comedic] coaster video, I'd use: Manhattan Skyline (Unknown artist, it's an old disco song) Brighter than Sunshine (Aqualung) Jurassic Park theme (John Williams) So tell your favorites and please include the song artist if you know who it was by.
  12. Ok though Batman the Ride (I know they're all the same, but I've been on the one at Magic Mountain, just in case anyone was wondering) is pretty much my favorite ride, I'd have to say TATSU. That thing is just incredible. I practically get a chill just standing there watching the thing go round. And I'd NEVER get tired of that thing, it's just great.
  13. I'd mostly have to say hands up, except woodies and Vekomas (Viper at Magic Mountain isn't Vekoma, but it's as bumpy as one!). I rode all of Goliath with my hands up, except for that tunnel at the beginning - it looks like it's gonna cut your head off - but anyway, there is SUPER airtime on Goliath, right at the top of the second drop.
  14. Rain usually drives us Californians away from parks, but it'd probably be a good idea to go on a rainy day to Universal, because most of their rides/attractions/shows etc... are inside. The only time I was really outside was to eat or walking around place to place.
  15. Is there anywhere I can find clips of these or something? Some great archive of ancient television ranomnity (randomness? randomocity maybe?) This all sounds fularious
  16. If any of you have the NoLimits simulation and opened up the ride file from the Sea Serpent coaster in update v. 1.33, it has a little story in the track info by the guy who made the recreation - he was there on the park's closing day! And, with more odd stories from the past: When my mom was at P.O.P. back in the day, she was bragging to her mom for a week or so about how she was finally gonna ride the Sea Serpent. When she got there, she basically got too scared of it to go on the ride, but then in her lunch there was a note from her mom about 'oh how proud I am that you're finally riding this' etc... so she had no choice but to ride it. Goofy story, yes, but I got stuck in a similar scenario, except with Superman Ulitmate Ecscape at Magic Mountain....but it turned out to be so great that I went front seat the next time!
