  1. ^ Thank you that was a very helpful post!
  2. You guys are giving me some good responses here! The training job sounds interesting. Do parks really have that? I remember at Worlds of Fun anyways they just had like management train crews. I have looked into working on summers in teaching because I find the job fun, but I'm not sure if the pay will be worth it when I have a wife and kids. I never really realized PR people would do that but it makes perfect since to me now! Doesn't sound like too bad of a job. I have already dipped into Worlds of Fun this summer as a ride-op at Mamba and did a great job and had fun with my job. I was offered assistant lead positions but turned them down because of a combination of a lot of factors not allowing me to work so many hours. I'm guessing it would be a good idea to reapply and get a job there again and start going up the ladder. One more thing I need to ask is does the management of amusement parks make good money? I'm guessing the pay is a little more respectful than a typical ride assistant? At least I'd hope so or nobody would take the job!
  3. Well thank you Hercules that was a very helpful post! I have defiantly been looking into business for next semester and I may just have to dip my feet in the major. Another field I was considering is marketing. Would a degree like this be at all helpful?
  4. Well I would probably like to work for an actual amusement park because I like being around the park. Though I would also be interested in working for a company that worked with amusement parks. I'm thinking like "career" wise more than "job" wise if that makes any sense. That was a very cool link though. I think it would be nice to be in like park management or something of that nature. If anyone knows how are those jobs acquired is it through starting low and working up the ladder or does it have more to do with coming out of college with the proper degree in the right major?
  5. I am a Freshman in college and I have been trying to decide on if I am wanting to switch my major or not. Right now I am in education but the reason I am in the major is because I don't know if there is anything better out there. Today we had a guest speaker in one of my classes talking about specialization or something like that and my teacher made fun of me and everything about how I listen to roller coaster podcasts. Then the speaker asked me if I was going to work in the amusement park industry and I was like... "Well that would be cool!" So I have some questions and I would like to hear from anyone who is willing to answer! What kind of jobs are out there is the amusement industry? I've taken a shot at engineering but then I discovered this is not me at all! Is a job in this industry hard to get? I've talked to my dad about Public Relations of some sort and he has asked people at work and they said it is hard to find jobs for that. How is the pay and how are the hours? These are just some vaugue questions I have if you guys could just throw out the types of jobs that are out there and if you know anything about the nature of these jobs let me know. I also ask that if anyone knows of anyone I could contact to get more information about getting a job like this and what I should major in or start working on please let me know!
  6. Just thought I'd join the fun and tell you how incredibly awesome these photos are. Great job man!
  7. I'm very excited to see the layout for this ride. With the name and location of this ride it has to be a winner I'm also loving these videos! /make me giggle every time I watch them
  8. Worlds of Fun would make me a very happy kiddo
  9. I've never had a contact fall out on me unless I've been messing with them. The only time I've ever had problems with contacts was a few years ago. I had just gotten a new brand to try out, the ones you can sleep in. I loved them until I had a ride on Patriot. They dried out so bad that my eyes watered the entire day. It was quite funny yet quite painful. I could make jokes about how emotional and happy I was to ride Mamba and junk. Good contacts don't befriend you though!
  10. How long are you spending at the park? If you go during the week and stay more than like 3 hours you should have no problem navigating the park in any fashion you want.
  11. Cody - Pretty cool video of Tatsu. Some pretty cool shots of the coaster. Not exactly fun to watch but it was a good coaster video. Matthew - I liked it. I liked the fog shot that was pretty cool. The song kind of annoyed me though. I don’t know how you edited that without having to check into a mental hospital! Ryan - Pretty cool video. I liked the opening and the ending statue shot. Short and sweet. JimmyBo - Pretty nice video overall. I liked the still shot incorporated in the video. Ryan - That was a fun video to watched. Really liked it. You’ve got some cool shots in there!
  12. I'll keep mine short and sweet. I'm in a video editing class at school so I like to think I know what I'm talking about. I don't though. I've been in it for about 4 months. If I sound like a noob I'm sorry! Yes I just said noob. Barry: Pretty solid video. I liked the coaster shots in yours and the water rapid part was one of my favorite parts. Darren: You seemed to catch the fun on the trip very nicely in this video. Kind of just missed a standout part though... Still a fun video! Kevin: I really liked the video. The black and white segment was really cool but it may have lasted a wee bit long. The burst into color was pretty cool after that though. Lots of coaster shots! Dave: You had me laughing with that commercial. Pretty creative I thought. You also captured the fun really well. Pam & Brian: There is something about this video that I really like and I can't put my finger on it. I thought the song was pretty cool, and the length was good. It captured all aspects of the park. Simple but effective!
  13. I loved watching Brett Farve play. It just always seemed like he was having fun out on the feild. He played a whole lot of years and to be honest I thought he would retire earlier. I'm going to miss him, but the man deserves to retire!
  14. Novocaine for the Soul - Eels
  15. Jeremy - Pearl Jam
  16. ^ I love Cake. Voodoo - Godsmack
  17. Awesome! I have been waiting for you guys to use "I Get Wet" by Andrew W.K. for a while now! Couldn't have used it for a better park. Great video too.
  18. Phantom Limb - The Shins
  19. Also, anyone else think Tom Petty kicked a$$? (I tried to use those quote feature and failed miserably!) Agreed! Oh and to the kid above me... LOL!!!
  20. Ok even though I want the Giants to win that was pretty funny... I do think the Giants have a shot and have been playing very well, and the Patriots have been struggling... Well kind of... In the last few games teams have actually kind of played with them and almost made me think the Patriots would loose... But I can dream right? If the Giants don't win I would be too mad though because I will have witnessed total domination. As much as I WANT to hate the Patriots, I just can't. They are one of the classiest teams in the NFL and I respect that... I still would have liked to see the Packers get a crack at these guys though!
