  1. I am almost 6' 3" and I kept riding in the very back on the outside. Smooth rides all night for me!
  2. I had SUCH an amazing time. What made the trip even more memorable was taking my friend who hadn't been to SFMM or Knotts in 20+ years. Seeing his reactions, screams, and laughs while riding all these world class coasters was the best. I'm bummed I missed out on the lunch time games and contests (I heard you all got a good laugh out of my absence ), but the heat/sun and adrenaline took a toll on my friend so we had to recoup at the hotel room. I cannot wait until next year! A HUGE thank you to the Alvey's and every one else involved in making another memorable WCB!!!
  3. FYI: My friend who lives by SFMM said its 95-100 degrees accompanied WITH rain and thunder/lightning.
  4. I'd be interested if they let us take unbalanced rides on Green Lantern.
  5. You're not going to spend much time in your room besides sleeping so it looks decent enough: http://www.yelp.com/biz/good-nite-inn-buena-park?sort_by=date_desc I was going to throw this out there but figured people would already have their rooms booked. The HotelTonight app has hotel rooms in the Buena Park/Anaheim area for $94 a night (Alpine Inn - basic) all the way to $152 (Indigo - hip) & the Holiday Inn Express across from SFMM for $127 a night. If you want my discount code, shoot me a PM and you can take $25 off the initial booking with it.
  6. Exactly. The layout as it stands would need to be seriously altered by RMC to make it thrilling. It did gain some rough spots over the years, mostly at the bases of its drops, which have been re-tracked and smoothed out. If they're going to put in a new coaster, they could really use the land Grizzly sits on but I dont see that happening at all. I think that's really what kills it. It's just a ho hum layout. Some drops, some turns, some boring long runs..... yawn. Which is exactly why it's a hit with families with littles. Sure, it has the same height requirement as Gold Striker, but mom's and dad's can take their timid kids on Grizzly and work them up to something like GS. They are at two opposite ends of the spectrum, and Grizzly isn't going anywhere.
  7. Hmm, looks like I have an excuse to get away from the bible-thon crowd. Anyone wanna grab a brewskie to get out of the midday sun? Yolo Bar, for sure.
  8. TC at SFMM has an awesome pre-lift track sequence. According to the POV rendering of Joker, it doesn't have the twisted goodness of TC's pre-lift area, but then again, the rendering doesn't show the tunnel either. Let's hope they're keeping some cards up their sleeves.
  9. I am SUPER pumped! I am bringing a friend who hasn't been on a coaster in 18 years! Talk about the perfect opportunity to ride. Tons ERT with other like minded enthusiasts for 48 hours. Me, currently: http://www.hark.com/clips/nhxyvzmjhj-excited

  11. So, you want to turn a family coaster that was not designed to be an extreme thrill ride and turn it into an extreme thrill ride... Right. Have you ridden it lately? The retracking they've done have vastly improved it. A lot of the problem areas that were rough have been smoothed out. I have yet to hear any viable reason to RMC a ride like Grizzly beyond the typical selfish want of more coasters. Trust me, I know those feels.
  12. It's going to be great to see what comes to both parks in the next 5 years. With Gold Striker and now The Joker, we are seeing some world class coasters coming to Northern CA!
  13. My money for the tunnel will be at the beginning before the lift. I am with you on this theory.
  14. I know my friend and I will be drinking at Trader Sam's Friday night. If any one wants to roll out, the invite is also open.
  15. ...and this gives a GCI coaster the awesome airtime it never had! Now they just need to do this with more GCI woodies! Gwazi...can you be next? Robb, being someone who has ridden other coasters re-done by RMC, how does this layout look to you?
  16. For others who have ridden other RMC hybrids, how does this layout compare?
  17. The pacing in the video looks awesome. I'll be even more excited for this once I ride TC during WCB, since that will be my first RMC hybrid. Awesome sauce!
