  1. I am currently in Corral E but will move up later today when I have time to be at the Expo. It's going to be hot! They had signs out yesterday telling people it would be hot and not to expect a PR! We're making a staycation out of it and staying at Caribbean Beach. If anyone wants to get drinks Sunday night or Monday let me know! Also, local Galloway folks are putting together pace groups for both races and with finish times about 15 min apart. Let me know if you want info on that and I can send it to you. It's not public knowledge. Good luck! Stay hydrated and use sunscreen! Have a great run!
  2. I am eager to see how the FP lines will be affected, mainly in the early mornings when people are getting FP's for later allowing others to hit a few attractions quickly with minimal wait. I too like the idea of leaving everything at home and just taking the band, but seeing how we often get to the parks and realize our APs are sitting on the kitchen counter, it might be difficult. I do hope they have different bands with different characters. Can we say up charge???
  3. Robb, Outside of the time at the Boutique, how much time did KT spend in the kids club? I saw in the first post that she liked it, but did she spend all day/half day/whenever you wanted some time alone in there? Was it easy to get her to go in and then get her out? Just wondering as we're trying to get on a cruise again with Lily next year. Might be Alaska again, but would rather go on a new ship. It's not my call.
  4. Quality stuff all around. My entire office is rolling on the floor watching this! Great job Renee
  5. I'm all for it. I am a big fan of beer and I like to enjoy it at the parks. I do however like that the magic Kingdom is more family friendly in the booze aspect when it comes to my 3 year old. Trust me, I'll be getting the beer and hope they use this as a way toget more beer/wine into Magic Kingdom. I agree with their stance on no "to go"cups at MK. I can tolerate that as long as I can enjoy a beer in a place that's called a "Tavern.". I know a lot of Disney hardcores out there who are all up in arms about it, but I bet they're also the ones with first day reservations and will be drinking the wine and beer at the new restaurant! My only question is, will they let people without reservations come in for a beer somewhere since you can't take it outside the restaurant? I sure hope so. Also, I hope their beer menu gets better with Bavarian beers.
  6. Great stuff! I too grew up at SFoG and seeing Scream Machine always makes me want to go back there. Thanks for posting great pics.
  7. Awesome pics and update. Made me feel like I was there from my Lay-Z-Boy here in Otown.
  8. I'm on the fence. Trust me, I want to go but it's the hotel issue that's keeping me from going. Will there be a main "TPR hotel" between the two even if it's an unofficial hotel?
  9. This looks like a great addition to the coasters here in town... I'm happy to see a woodie come to town as that drive down I4 is just sometimes too long for a woodie!
  10. The Disney 2013 registration opens in less than two weeks. I'm hearing from some marketing folks at Run Disney that the relay won't be offered this year, but that's not confirmed. Anyone serious about forming a TPR team for either the half, full or Goofy? If they do a relay, I'm all about that too. Also, anyone else signed up for the ToT 10 miler?
  11. Congrats on making it the entire 24 hours! I struggled just by arriving at 7 last night and staying till 1 this morning! Needless to say, I'm not getting a lot done at work right now! Hope you're getting some rest!
  12. Just got back to Orlando from Gainesville after running the Gainesville Half. Holy cow it kicked the crap out of me. I finished at 2:43:00. That's almost 20 minutes slower than Disney a month ago! There were a ton of hills and it was about 75 degrees this morning with the humidity at 95%. I hit the wall around mile 7 and walked to mile 8 while putting down a Gu Pack which helped, but I never fully recovered. The course was nice, but once you've seen a few cypress and pine trees, you've seen them all. There was NO entertainment along the course and it could have used one more water stop, but can't they all! I guess it was cool if you're a Gator fan. The course went through the residential parts of town and then onto the University of Florida campus. I guess the highlight was running through "The Swamp" where the Gators play. Being a Georgia fan, it didn't really excite me. I'm glad I ran it. A few of the people in my running group PR'd so I'm happy for them. I'm just glad I was able to pick up a 12 pack of SweetWater Brewing beer in Gainesville and bring it back to Otown with me! (We can't get it here) Next Race: Swamp House Half in DeBarry Florida on March 11.
  13. I've never been to BMG due to this and that reason, but it looks really cool. As a former self proclaimed Putt Putt grand master champion, I'm glad to see a new course opening! Something new to conquer here in town! Anyone up for a game? loser buys drinks at Cigarz! Holy cow... Putt putt that close to the bar, I see a lot of Putt Putt drinking games in the future!
  14. anyone planning on running the Gainesville half or full next Sunday? If so, i'll be the one wearing my UGA stuff and talking a lot of trash!
  15. The water area looks great! I was there last for the first time and was amazed at the park, the water area will be a great addition come summer! I'm excited to go play with the Lego tubes... They look pretty cool!
  16. So I'm finally getting around to posting my Disney Half Marathon report. Sorry for the delay... Just been busy with regular everyday life. Anyways, it was a great race weekend for me. I went into it planning on just having fun with it and not caring about my time. I ended up in corral B and that changed everything. I was with some fast people up there and started off way to fast for my pace. Thank god for Jimmy Buffett on the iPhone... I put him on to slow me down! Anyways, I ended up with a new PR! 2:26:47. I beat my old PR by two minutes. I could have gone faster, but I kind of took my time coming back into Epcot realizing I could PR and take my time. For the second year in a row, my daughter ran the kids races. She's only three, so she ran the 100 yard race. She actually did it twice. She told me she wanted to run again because she beat all the boys. I had no problem with this and neither did Disney! Next year, I suggest the Hilton Bonnett Creek Resort! It's right there at Epcot and rooms were only $109 a night with a free pre race breakfast spread with transport to and from the race. Beat any deal Disney was throwing at us. They also went overboard with extra race stuff for everyone who ran. Just food for thought for next year! Anyways, here's some pictures. Sorry for the blur, I was using the iPhone and didn't stop to take good pics. As for my next race, I might run the Gainesville Half in late February. It's a cheap race and I can stay with the in-laws so it won't be expensive... I'm still on the fence. Anyways, congrats to everyone to ran! The long cattle walk to the start line from the Epcot Parking Lot Still walking to the start with 28,000 new friends! The race starts... for the really fast people! At the start line! heading into MK parking lot! cruising through main street USA! Tomorrowland Heading into Epcot The two coolest characters were out in Epcot again this year! Phineas & Ferb! and done! Lily and her friend Andrew get ready to head to the kids races! Lily running in the 100 yard race! Celebrated Lily's race with lunch with Pooh and the gang. Pooh & the gang hooked yours truly up with a congrats card and cupcake! Awesome! Ended the LONG day with some celebrating around the world at Epcot with an all you can eat (which I did) and drinks in Germany!
  17. Currently enjoying a Sam Adams Black Lager. I just finished a Jailhouse Brewing IPA.
  18. I am in Corral B (how, I have no clue) If you are near, let me know through DM!
  19. It was a lot of fun! Hopefully KT is going to sleep faster than Lily tonight and was easier to clean too!
  20. Everyone be safe getting down here for the half and full this weekend. It looks like we're going to have some awesome weather with temps in the mid 40's at start and warming to the 60's at the finish on Saturday and lower 70's for the finish for the long runners on Sunday! If anyone wants to get an after the half beer, let me know! DM me as my wife and I will be enjoying Epcot since we're staying at the Waldorf this weekend! It's a record year for the Disney Marathon weekend, the Orlando Sentinel is reporting that 26,500 are running the half and 16,500 for the full. 6,500 are doing the Goofy. Good luck to everyone running!
  21. I'm ready as I can be for the Disney half! Anyone else running on Saturday morning?
  22. The Pepsi deals stems back from the AB days. The old AB canning unit used to provide the cans for Pepsi products. One of the main factories is in Gainesville, FL. I think the canneries were in the deal in InBev, but InBev sold them off or spun into their own company. Now what other good things can come out of this? Better beer at SeaWorld/Busch Gardens soon? It will be awesome to order a Sam Adams there... But, Being from Atlanta... I am psyched about this news! Pepsi sucks!
  23. While JAWS is always a good time, I am 50/50 on it going away. We lost Kong and got Mummy... that's not so bad in my opinion. I do say that when Universal Orlando closes JAWS on Jan 2, it will ROCK if on the final voyage, they let JAWS win one for all the sharks who have been blasted by that grenade launcher over the years! And have someone getting video of it. I don't think they''ll put Potter in UO. I think it will be an indoor thrill ride. What kind? Who knows. Who will build it and what kind of nuts and bolts will they use? Only time will tell! At least the Uni side is getting some love after Rockit has left us all a bit sore in more ways than one! Being a parent of a younger kid, I'd love to see some love put in to a new kids area with more for little ones to do. I know many of you will blast this idea, but you probably don't have a 3 year old who loves the parks and cries because she's too short to ride the green (Hulk) roller coaster!
  24. congrats on the Subaru! Anyone in the Orlando area running the Reindeer 5k at SeaWorld on Dec 10? This is usually a big race with 4-5,000 people. The race benefits the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children's state-of-the-art Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Program. I don't think it's a "timed" race but the shirts are always pretty cool and it's a fun way to run around Shamu's house. Information is on Track Shack's website. I'll be out there, let me know if anyone wants to run. edit: removed bogus link
