Well according to a couple of sources, not everybody will be sent to the metal detectors. Apparently guests will be selected "at random" for the additional screening. So get ready for the real pain - listening to the whining and seeing the grievance industry running to anyone who instantly thinks they're now a victim of racism, profiling and whatever else for being among those selected.

The Simpsons Tapped Out

Looks like I'm on pace at 24,500 something currently. -
I was there Saturday at about the time the post about a 120min FP wait time was made. As I recall, the posted stand-by wait was 150min. So I can believe a 2 hour FP wait, even though that wouldn't be displayed anywhere. Star Tours nearby had a 90min stand-by wait time. Both point towards a period of downtime earlier in the afternoon. The whole park was slammed pretty good. Not 4th of July or New Year's Eve levels, but still pretty busy. There are definitely some pinch points that need to be addressed in order to benefit crowd flow. The Astro Orbitor in the middle of Tomorrowland's entrance first and foremost. The sooner that thing gets the axe, the better.

I would wager that to be maybe 5% at best. The actual amount of crossover from here to FL is still pretty small though it may seem greater the more time spent on social media and forums such as this one. Even today there's still a very large contingent of people living here who believe that travel to FL is either too expensive (read: they don't want to give up their Starbucks habit) or too far to travel. If anything, I would think those of us who have gone to FL to see it and told friends here about it only drive the anticipation that much higher for Hollywood's Hogwarts. I'm just happy that it's finally going to open soon even though I personally don't feel much of a need to kill myself trying to fight through the crushing crowds in order to see it. I'm not going to make the classic CA/FL misconception that "it's the same as FL" but I have no problem in thinking I've largely already more or less been there and done that and don't really need to freak out too much about it.

Video and Question about 4K HDTVs!
PeoplemoverMatt replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1) No, my 1080p HDTV still works just fine. Won't replace until it dies. 6) It's not important to me until 4K content is as widely available as 1080p/1080i HD content is today. That's still a long ways off so I don't feel any need to hurry. If my 1080p HDTV died today, I'd look for a cheap 1080p HDTV to replace it first before forking over the extra cash for any 4K UHDTV on the market today. 7) 4K will be more important than 3D for sure. 3D never really caught on in the home and will most certainly die a quick death when 4K eventually replaces 1080p mainstream. -

Seems strange to be two days past Halloween and yet Act 3 of the Halloween update won't go live for another couple of days... -
I go once or twice a month and I feel the same way about the value. That's what drew me into becoming an AP holder in the first place, despite the stupid traffic that Robb knows so well. It doesn't make me feel any better about how the top tier WDW AP for locals is now about $100 less than I'll be renewing my DLR-only AP for.
-
That's the question I had, and the answer is it's not. The fact is a few bucks more a month isn't going to make a difference to anyone unless they were already pretty much done with paying year to year for an AP anyway. Most everybody ranting and raving about how awful the price hikes are and right now claiming they aren't going to go anymore are going to realize how little the hike is, renew, and still go as though nothing happened until the next hike comes down. Then the cycle starts over again just like it's going around again now. It's hollow, shallow feigned outrage which makes it all the more sad. The park's still going to be packed next month for Star Wars, and then for the holidays, and on and on.
-
Since by your standards I'm qualified, I'll ask you to shush. In fact, I'll encourage you to STOP. This is EXACTLY the kind of whiny entitled attitude that gives Californians like me a bad name. Disney doesn't owe you a darn thing besides letting you through the turnstiles for 12 months. If you don't want to pay what Disney's asking you to pay in return for the product they deliver, don't go. Real simple. And with that attitude, nobody will miss you.
-
This is also true, and I addressed that point on my socials yesterday when the news broke, but somehow seemingly none of these millions of people understands this. My social feeds are all cluttered with people who think they're entitled to go every weekend for pennies, and if Disney doesn't price it this way, Disney's a bunch of greedheads who hate families and make it so Cinderella can't go to the ball.
-
And here I almost expected to see a few pages of Annual Passholders crying in their Cheerios about the announced price hikes. The only beef I have with them is the fact that now the first and second tier AP are both more expensive than the top tier WDW AP, which on its face seems ridiculous, but it's just another example of how living in SoCal is vastly more expensive than Orlando, FL. The part I don't quite understand is why does a Disneyland price hike even make news? Everybody raises prices from restaurants to sports tickets to theatre and I've never seen any news headlines about that. Yet today's hike was front & center on OC Register's website. Did OC Register run a front & center article about Angels or Ducks tickets going up? Doesn't really make sense other than because overly sensationalized news media.

Looks like the tennis courts were removed as part of another Gil update today. Gil's hawking Octoberfest stuff with a donut rebate offer. -
2014 was the first and only year that I did Trapped. It was fun and all. A little disjointed at times. The whole lost girl story didn't do much, but it was interesting to have a little more interactivity compared to the standard Haunt maze. That said, I can totally understand how/why they would choose to allocate the budget elsewhere.

I'm having a glitch in that my houses are resetting on their own before I can tap them for money. For example, my blue houses reset at 6am this morning. I was most certainly not tapping at that hour. Anyone else experiencing this? -
After seeing the lighting, projection and snowfall effects they put on for the Sing-a-long in the Muppets theatre, I'll be interested to see what in-theatre effects are cooked up for this musical. You don't need to be the target demographic to appreciate that kind of thing. As for the ones complaining about Frozen...as we say, some people really need to just let it go.

West Coast Bash 2015!
PeoplemoverMatt replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow. What an amazing and exhausting couple of days but it was worth it for such an amazing event. BIG thanks to Robb, Elissa and everyone at TPR who put in so much time & effort to put this on for us, and of course SFMM and KBF for hosting it and opening their doors to us. Looking forward to doing it all again next year! -
Sort of funny how nobody complains about these 20+ year old animated movies' presence, but they will complain about Frozen that's barely 2 years old and after it's become the most successful animated film in history. Of course its being added to every show. Do people not notice all the other movies that are almost always part of every new show that's been made for the past 20-30 years? Frozen is simply taking its place amongst the Snow White's, Pinocchio's, Aladdin's, Lion King's etc of Disney lore. They'll get used it same as they've gotten used to the others.
-
It could simply mean that there will be extremely limited access since to get to that area of the park, people will either have to get through the construction zones for Star Wars or Toy Story Lands. The crowds in the streets for the Dancing Lights can be absolutely crushing. This sounds more like a choice was made to simply not have that crowd control headache. I'm trying to visualize the Dancing Lights crowds trying to get through the skinny work walled alleys of DCA's Paradise Pier back in 2010ish when World of Color and Mermaid were being built. That wouldn't end well.
-
The project reads like they're simply catching up on all the maintenance that should have been done in the past 20 years, but to SFMM, it needs to be marketable like this or the money won't be spent on it. I'll take the hokey ads if that's what it takes for Revolution to receive what it needs and not look so sad anymore.

Iron Shark at Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier. My first Eurofighter. Loved the dives seemingly straight into the Gulf of Mexico.
