  1. Since there is almost no "real" airtime to speak of, most people here are very unfamiliar with the concept. When/if they find it, they generally think it's some sort of safety threat. As if the mere presence of a modicum of airtime is itself going to result in millions of deaths due to people being launched out of the train.
  2. Apparently since Hatbox isn't returning but reappearing, he's been there the whole time as part of the 999 Happy Haunts.
  3. Too bad they didn't wait another year or two and used Twisted Colossus. That would have been a cool tie-in with the original. Better yet, they could have also re-used Revolution with the only change being the OTSR addition to the trains. I can totally see the family moaning in pain wondering what in the world happened.
  4. Not to be mean or anything, but there are people on this forum who are or have been members of SFMM's finance department. It's probably not wise to speak for them or assume you know what their basic strategy is. Having a headline attraction unexpectedly down for a substantial part of the year is a disaster no matter what anybody's strategy is. Aside from circumstances outside anybody's control, act of God etc, there's really no excuse for that to ever happen.
  5. Confirmed. Each purchase of a house results in a higher price of another of that same house. No doubt this is to discourage structure farms. Well that was fun while it lasted.
  6. This is very likely the single most ironic statement in all 4000+ pages of this thread.
  7. Wow. So I'm seeing Blue House went from $1800 to $216,000. Pink House is up to $230,400. Then Brown House, Purple House and White House are all still where they used to be. My house farm is basically all Blue and Pink houses. Is the price of each house now increasing depending on how many you've built? Or perhaps these price hikes are slowly being in phased in? Strange to see White House still $21,000 next to the others.
  8. I won squeaky-voiced teen and a bomb shelter out of the new mystery boxes. Better than getting trees and hedges out of them.
  9. Jarring transitions are nothing new in theme parks. Being able to see Hogwarts from Jurassic Park in Orlando never turned out to be a devastating problem. Springfield in Orlando was pretty darn awesome. HUGE improvement over the hokey "International Food Court" whatever that was there before. This one looks even better than Orlando's! I'll miss Doc Brown's but that was far more past its time than Springfield could be. At least new Simpsons episodes are still being made.
  10. Europeans have to pay a ton of taxes on gas that we don't have to pay. Similarly, we have to pay higher taxes on gas than other parts of the country, resulting in CA having higher gas prices than neighboring states. Can't say I expected us to have higher gas prices than Hawaii though.
  11. Some guests won't even notice the menu prices depending on how the breakfast works with the Disney Dining Plans.
  12. I would think having metal detectors outside of ride entrances helps feed a perception that either waiting in line for the ride, or the ride itself, is unsafe. This seems like one of those ideas that sounded a lot better in a conference room compared to reality.
  13. Only time will tell, but that top gun stall will certainly make explaining why Revolution **must** have OTSR's more interesting.
  14. "It's unclear what caused the roller coaster to stall." Ummm... gravity? Physics? Inertia? E-stop? Some other perfectly normal part of a roller coaster's basic functions?
  15. Knott's team is up to 5 participants and $360 raised! Doing well so far!
  16. The Final Episode starts out with a 4 hour build of a rather large Radioactive Man monument. No more freeze rays. No more felons or criminals running around to squish or fight. No more reporting crimes or squishing criminals in friends' towns. Looks like all that's left to do is go through the "Monumental Battle" (see, because you started out by building a monument) quests where Radioactive Man apparently returns as an unlocked character if you beat Part 10 in the next 6.5 days.
  17. On property value resorts like All-Stars and Pop Century are best for this. EMH perks and no parking fees anywhere in WDW, including the parks' parking lots.
  18. RIP Taste Pilot's Grill. You were only named that way for the pun of it. New Smokejumpers looks great! Much improved over what was there before.
  19. When I first read about the expansion and all the additional infrastructure improvements to the roads and building access to I-4 and such, my immediate thought was how similar that sounded to Disneyland's resort expansion project done in the late 90s that was ultimately finished in 2001 with DCA. Those pictures really remind me of the the huge dirt fields seen during those years!
  20. Well most of the ride is built on top of an old structure with years of its useful life removed so it's not that far-fetched of an idea. In the pictures of the new structure for the bunny hills and such, to me the wood used for those looked just as aged as the old structure for the lift hill behind them. That could have been caused by how the light was hitting the structure or the angle though.
  21. Am I right in thinking they're using wood from parts of the old structure removed from the turn arounds and other places to build the new support structures for these bunny hills, Zero-G stall, etc?
  22. Unlocked Death Mountain a little bit ago. It's a four hour build, covers a 12x12 grid area and looks pretty fierce. Much better than the underwhelming Times tower. Also managed to craft the Zenith City Apartments and Lofts. The ZC Apts building is almost as tall as the Times tower!
  23. That doesn't stop Joey's scenario from playing out. If the new nighttime parade is considered a new attraction for purposes of increasing capacity, those new guest flow corridors become the perfect excuse for letting more people in.
  24. I think if "Studios" is dropped from the name, the old MGM Studios name will finally drop out of the lexicon for good. Personally I'm hoping for "Disney Intellectual Property Capitalization and Vacation Club Showcase Park"
  25. Boy for all it took to get it, the Zenith City Times tower is rather puny and underwhelming. Can't really put it next to anything without it looking really off scale.
