Gee, when you regurgitate that nonsense, it suddenly doesn't seem so made-up!!! -
To pick the correct park...
MisterP replied to HHN Dylan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would have added Mt. Olympus to my list, but I don't want to recommend the ultimate ghetto park to a roller coaster newcomer... -

Too many complaints about Disney?
MisterP replied to jackskellington101's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The #1 reason I love this site is because most people here "get" the Disney experience as I do (and unlike most of my friends). I really think the level of criticism of their shortcomings on TPR is very reasonable. When expectations are high, that's bound to happen. I just fear that Disney isn't as concerned with things like "bird-on-a-stick", the wallpaper in the stretching rooms in HM, the burning cabin, etc. as we are...but the issue is that those very details are what makes the parks so great. So I truly believe the Disney company SHOULD be concerned...that's the way Walt was. IMO, its far worse to let current attractions deteriorate (to some degree) than it is to not come up with a new mind-blowing experience.... If Disneyland/World never added another new attraction, I would still want to go back to see my old favorites if they were as good as they were the last time I was there (but I live in Missouri, so I understand the locals' complaints)... -

I am a huge Disneyland fan and I think that whole thing is blown out of proportion....three Depp figures that are actually very cool (and two of them don't exactly stick out, and the third is where there was nothing previously...). The water effect is very cool. The only thing I miss is the old ship captain's dialogue ("strike your colors, you bloomin' cockaroaches!"). To me, that could be the only legit complaint...but Barbossa is a cool figure too. I am as much of a purist as anyone, but riding the new version this spring, I thought it looked as spectacular as ever... Then again, I am very far from a DL "regular"... -
To pick the correct park...

Agreed about KI...it would be about 40th on my list... For coasters I would say Cedar Point Six Flags Great Adventure Great America Over Georgia New England Magic Mountain Holiday World both Busch Gardens Islands of Adventure EDIT: forgot Hersheypark IMO all of them will deliver adequately in the "roller coaster thrills" department -

This March in line for POTC at Disneyland, I heard a middle-aged woman say to her preteen daughter, "The Pirates movies were so popular that Disney made this ride..." -

Ballparks! Your favorite/least favorite?
MisterP replied to CoasterEricHP's topic in Random, Random, Random
I'm a huge baseball fan and I always try to hit a ballpark on any vacation trip. Ive been to: Busch Stadium (old) Busch Stadium (new) Kaufmann Stadium (KC) Wrigley Field (CHI) U.S. Cellular Field (CHI) Comiskey Park (CHI, the old one) Metrodome (MIN) Dodger Stadium Qualcomm Stadium (SD - old) Riverfront Stadium (CIN -old) Great American Ballpark (CIN) Ballpark in Arlington (has a new name) Minute Maid Park (when it was Enron Field) Jacobs Field (CLE - has new name) Yankee Stadium Fenway Park Oriole Park at Camden Yards R.F.K. (WAS, D.C.) Citizens Bank Park (PHI) PNC Park (PIT) County Stadium (MIL, old) Miller Park (MIL) Favorites : Fenway & Wrigley (love the history of both) Camden Yards (favorite modern) Arlington (2nd fav modern) Kaufmann (probably tied for the most beautiful w/ Camden Yds) but there are several others that I loved as well (LA, CLE, PIT, new MIL, new STL) -
It must've been after because I didn't see it there in '03. I would've probably avoided it then had it been there anyways. Back then I was still being blown away by the intense and insane airtime on Cyclops, still my number one wooden coaster. I can't wait to move to Indianapolis (knock on wood) soon so I can be closer to all my favorite parks. You're right, I must have been there a couple of years later, because they were building Hades at the time. So it must have been 2004. My mistake. Sorry.

Question about Mt. Olympus coasters
MisterP replied to MisterP's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
No disrespect to anyone who's responded to the thread. But I haven't really heard a good reason for this....I mean, if Voyage or El Toro don't need this type of ending, why would ALL THREE Mt. Olympus coasters need it? I've just not seen anything close to a realistic answer... -
Question about Mt. Olympus coasters
MisterP replied to MisterP's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Haven't been there, Robb, but is there a reason for this? I mean 3 at one park seems a little weird... -
If there is another thread about this, I apologize. But can anyone shed some light on exactly why Mt. Olympus' 3 good coasters (Hades, Cyclops, Zeus) have tracks that end in a brake run above the station and then descend into it? I've been on quite a few American woodies, yet this is the only place I've seen this. Anyone have any info to share?
