  1. Hey Alveys, I'm planning a three-day weekend trip from May 31st to June 2nd with the main event being HoliWood Nights. Here's the current schedule I have Friday, May 31st Leave Illinois early and drive down to Kentucky Visit Beech Bend HoliWood Nights Day 1 Saturday, June 1st HoliWood Nights Day 2 Sunday, June 2nd Visit Kentucky Kingdom Drive back to Illinois Does this trip sound plausible? If so, do you know any good ways to save money on hotels, dining, etc. or any changes I could make for this trip to be more enjoyable? The only thing to note is that I can't add any days - it has to be from Friday to Sunday due to my driver's ed schedule. Thanks!
  2. Haven't the First Drop writers been the people do leak info like where Kanonen went and stuff like that? I remember this post from Robb back in 2006 said, Original thread: https://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=24539&p=170408&hilit=european+coaster+club#p170408 So I think there's a decent chance the rumors could be true, but I'm not a big expert or anything.
  3. ^ I went to Coastermania in 2016 and 2018 and with the exception of the new rides (Valravn in 16, SV in 18) which can generate large crowds, sometimes coasters like the three big Intamins will draw lines of 45-60 minutes, but everything else almost never gets past 20 minutes, sometimes not even that; most of the coasters will be walk-on. You should be fine.
  4. Now I'm curious what the main ride will be. For those who have seen the movie, you'll know what I'm talking about. Is it gonna be the escape through the toilet out of that facility, the runaway boxcar with the drugs, or kind of a summary of the movie's biggest adventures ala Forbidden Journey
  5. What's the smallest a coaster can be to be featured in the poll?
  6. So excited to give the Cookie Num Num's a try! They'll still be there in March, right?
  7. Every time I read someone's answers that DON'T say that Phoenix is their favorite bird coaster, I cry on the inside. Have not ridden Phoenix yet, so that's my reasoning. I was only going off of what I've ridden
  8. Out of curiosity, does that park have any height limit for coasters?
  9. ^ Nice to see the coaster is making quick progress too!
  10. I guess I need to ride more Boomerangs then. The only standard Boomerang I've ridden is the one at Six Flags St. Louis and it sucks, so my opinion on Boomerangs is low in that sense. I guess with new trains it's a good bargain
  11. I f ckin loved the Harry Potter tour when I visited England in June! Glad to see you did too! Great photos
  12. Double post (my apologies), but it looks like Knott's Boomerang is getting relocated to Indonesia. It's getting new trains too!
  13. It's a shame more people aren't posting on-ride photos, I always enjoy seeing those
  14. Disney World from March 24th to 26th, it's the start of my first trip of the year!
  15. Wow, talk about Chinese park consistency, right? But that does sound pretty lame. I hope you get back to the park in the future.
  16. Exactly right. Going along with good ideas, you should take 101 and 23 to the park
  17. Great report! St. Louis is one of my favorite cities in the country. I haven't been to the zoo since 2012 but I remenber thoroughly enjoying it like you did.
  18. The owner of the park, Ed Hart, has said on multiple occasions he doesn't like launched coasters because it kills the anticipation of going up a lift hill
  19. Umm, they ran Bull with multiple trains during a good chunk of HitP, up to and including 12/30... Same thing with X-Flight.... And Batman... But I'm sure you stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night The event was tremendously well attended. Until the public quits showing up on "good weather" days, this event isn't going anywhere. Yes, the park will close due to "weather" (low attendance) several times each HitP season... But the park will make $TEXAS on days where it's 30*F and sunny.... That's good to hear. Maybe they did run it with multiple trains for the last half of the season, but I don't remember it being that way.
  20. Yeah, good move. I have the same setup at work, so I end up taking a couple of trips usually. Others are correct about TTD. Ride Corkscrew last; it's the only genuinely bad coaster there. Also, you can't ride Wilderness Run unless you have a child with you. Or you could be a complete credit whore and ask Town Hall for a pass to ride. But only if you care that much about creds; you're better off getting re-rides on Vengeance, the Intamins, Raptor or Magnum.
  21. Here we go! Note that these answers are only based on what I've ridden. 1. Name 3 of your favorite roller coasters, but not your top 3. Mr. Freeze Reverse Blast (my #12 overall), Goliath at SFGAm (my #8 overall), and X2 (my #6 overall) 2. About how many different parks did you visit in 2018? I whored out Illinois to complete the state in terms of credits, so my grand number because of that is 18 parks even though I only got 37 new creds last year. 3. Which 2018 park visit was your favorite? Tough, it's between Cedar Point and Tripsdrill. Coastermania was such a fun event and I met sooo many great enthusiasts, but I think I gotta say Tripsdrill since I entered that park with absolutely no expectation at all, and was completely blown away by how flawless it is. 4. Your favorite 2018 park addition (ride, food, show, etc)? I don't want to be basic and say Steel Vengeance, but I don't really pay attention to which food and shows are new at each park. 5. What ride exceeded your expectations the most in 2018? Nemesis, Steel Vengeance and Expedition GeForce for sheer amazingness and living up to the hype, but Boss with new track was completely mental. That ride now has 10 moments of ejector airtime in the back car, and I don't recall it running smoother ever. 6. Best meal/food at a park in 2018? Woodcutters at Alton Towers had great food. Also getting to pay my final respects to the tacos at Indiana Beach was good too. 7. What was your favorite new coaster of 2018 NOT made by RMC or Larson? Expedition GeForce, and it's my #1 overall. If you're talking about new meaning opened in 2018, um... I didn't ride any others because Wicker Man was down all day for me. 8. Name one park you will definitely visit in 2019. SILVER DOLLAR CITY!! For the first time too! 9. Best ride themed to a bird? Raptor at Cedar Point 10. Lamest ride/coaster you rode in 2018? That one tiny Dragon Wagon in Bloomington, but in terms of disappointment, Oblivion at Alton Towers did absolutely nothing for me. 11. What roller coaster currently sits at the top of your bucketlist? (degree of difficulty: NOT a new-for-2019 ride) Easy! El Toro! (Eejanaika for steel) 12. What new-for-2019 ride or coaster are you most looking forward to? Maxx Force! I've been waiting for a full-circuit launch coaster at my home park for years, and the facts that it'll have a single rider line will increase the number of laps I take on it, and the acceleration will be bonkers. 13. Name the first totally middle-of-the-road (not bad/not great) park that comes to mind. Wild Waves up in Seattle 14. You're in Orlando and magically have a 1-hour ERT session on 1 coaster of your choice at any park in the city. You choose... Expedition Everest 15. Holiday In The Park vs. Winterfest. Who reigns supreme? Holiday In The Park for running more than 3-4 coasters at each park during the season. 16. Mystic Timbers mystery shed or Wicker Man fire infusion? Mystic Timbers, because it's actually open. 17. Which Six Flags have you been to most recently? Great America, my home park. 18. Intamin or Schwarzkopf? You may only choose one. Intamin, unless it's a ZacSpin and located in California or a kiddie coaster. 19. Battle of Kings Coasters: Island or Dominion? Pick one. Dominion I guess for the Intamin and RMC even though I've only been to Island. 20. What was the longest you waited for a ride/coaster in 2018? 1.5 hours for Steel Vengeance 21. What roller coaster have you ridden more than any other? American Eagle (it my first big coaster too!) 22. Best drop tower under 150 feet? The one at Santa's Village in Dundee. That drop surprises me every single time. 23. Maverick or Millennium Force? (If you haven't been to CP, pick what you want to ride more) Millennium Force, in terms of the ride itself and just sheer laugh-your-ass-off fun. 24. Log flumes or sky rides? You can only choose one. Sky rides. I love taking photos! 25. What are 3 things you enjoying doing at your home park other than riding rides? Photography/filming, eating at JB's Smokehouse, soaking riders on Buccaneer Battle and Roaring Rapids. 26. What is your second favorite Cedar Fair park and why? Kings Island but I've only been there and Cedar Point. 27. What is your home park and give us two good reasons why we should pay it a visit. Six Flags Great America - We have an RMC plus lots of other great coasters including a record-breaking launch coaster for 2019, and for TPR especially, the operations have gone uphill since 2014-2015. 28. Launch or Lift? Lift, just for the fun of drops. 29. Did you buy fast pass at all in 2018? At Alton Towers, and it was a lifesaver. 30. What is your least favorite wooden coaster? Georgia Cyclone overall, Hoosier Hurricane for currently operating. 31. Disney fanboys: cool or cult? Some are cool, some are cult I guess. 32. Best Batman themed ride? Are there any others besides the coasters at Six Flags parks? 33. Name something that tend to take home from parks that you didn't bring with you. New memories and opinions. 34. Best wooden coaster over 110 feet tall? (rcdb will help you) Lightning Rod 35. Have you ever been hit with something (loose change/a tree/vomit/etc) while riding something? I got a bunch of nettles on my leg on Galactica. Even the ride ops were confused why I came off with new red marks! 36. Skywarps: credits or no? State your case. I guess so but just because I'm a whore. 37. Turkey legs: nah or yaaaaassssss? yaaaaassssss 38. What is the most recent B&M that you rode? Superman - Ultimate Flight at HITP. 39. You can eat nothing but corn dogs, churros or funnel cake for the next 48 hours, which do you choose? Churros, easily! 40. Post a great on-ride shot of you from 2018. (DO IT!) The funniest ones... (to decrease size of the post, I just posted the links, but click on them to see the photos) https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YIyUcb0pvfk/WvhTJMbSt3I/AAAAAAAAEsM/AAffTP_t-pgYFG7QKXG98NmbBawCuZD4wCLcBGAs/s1600/DSC01377.JPG Boomerang at Six Flags St. Louis. I'm on the right side of the front row with the darker shirt. https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5dfIaQfKL20/WyaPRjGKzpI/AAAAAAAAFik/9VK-3iRGwwcyAKggsVGTdnc3PWFBC7CZwCLcBGAs/s1600/Magnum%2BPhoto.JPG Magnum XL-200. I have the X2 shirt in the first row, but that girl in the back row was awesome. Some of my other favorites... https://scontent-ort2-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/37804286_194244648104172_3142606207315869696_n.jpg?_nc_cat=104&_nc_ht=scontent-ort2-2.xx&oh=070e7e9fc4b56853b853499aa14f21ed&oe=5CB44C75 Expedition GeForce. I'm on the left with the Goliath shirt. https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-g2a28gK-rlM/W5rY2x0EDtI/AAAAAAAAHmo/DmKmX4YJTyURZZSTDSlfiTkKlzWTICcmACLcBGAs/s1600/Millennium%2BForce%2BPhoto%2B2.JPG Millennium Force. X2 shirt again, and I had so much damn fun. This was a night ride too, keep in mind! https://scontent-ort2-2.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/37849305_194223261439644_5881204778335207424_o.jpg?_nc_cat=105&_nc_ht=scontent-ort2-2.xx&oh=fa10bf7d272e4ca57d6eb613a905bba2&oe=5CFD579D Smiler. I'm in the RMC shirt, and I love how I actually had a big smile in the photo.
  22. ^ Having gone to Holiday In The Park many times, I can tell you right now one of the main reasons rides like Raging Bull have such a long wait is because they ran one train on it the whole HITP season. The only coasters running more than 1 train were actually Joker and Dark Knight, so hopefully they learn from that this coming November/December
  23. Exactly the reason why it's only one of two credits at Cedar Point I don't have, the other being Wilderness Run. And I've been to Cedar Point twice (Coastermania 2016 and 2018) If you ride it, you're lucky!
  24. Great report, I'm glad the honeymoon was such a success, and those photos are making me all the more excited for my visit in 2 months!
