I know that Coaster Expedition Vol 11 & Roller Coasters in the Raw have a review thread. I just couldn't find one for the newer Affiliate label DVDs. So with much fan fare! Ta Da! Here tiz! Well, to get this one alive and kicking, I recently acquired JimmyBo & Friends Vol 2, The Jiggidy Johnsons Jamin' DVD Vol 2, and America's Rockin' Theme Parks. I had the pleasure of watching Jimmy's DVD last night. I must say, aside from some complete tool hijacking the Universal Studios Hollywood segment. This DVD is an absolute blast! Smart, quick editing, hilarious hijinks, and an awesome score keep these 2 disks moving at a blistering pace. I was thankful to get a breath of air during the park introduction segments. Jimmy has crafted a funny, entertaining, whimsical, and in your face journey through Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, Southern California, and Europe, featuring many of your favorite TPR cast of characters and more. Congrats Jimmy on a job well done! I enjoyed your first DVD a bunch and was ecstatic to find that this one was even better! On the Vinnie Barbarino scale of "Oh My Gods!" and "Jesus Christs!" with the best score being 5 of each. I would give it 4 "Oh my Gods!" and 4 "Jesus Christs!" Guy "I call em' as I see em!" Koepp

Are you seeing this?
Guy T. Koepp replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It seems much faster to me the last few days. However, I have also been getting a timed out message that I have never seen before. Hmmmmmmmm? -
So, over the weekend I had the pleasure of watching RCItR V2. I must first claim that I am not a huge fan of the pure unclean "RAW" footage. Having a film and television background, it just seems too unpolished and rough in its simplicity. I too must confess that I love to see all the antics that my addiction sharing friends go through on these adventures. Their pleasures and stories become my own upon viewing. In average POV videos, I lose the human element that makes these rides so much fun. I would much rather just wait until I have the chance to ride the ride myself. With that said, this is not just your average POV video. The Alveys have taken this very tedious style of capturing a ride and have infused it with charm and personality. Not only do they give us the unedited POV, but they include a nice helping of recognizable riders unedited reactions throughout the ride. I love to hear the witty banter Robb has with his co-rider while on the lift. I laugh as ocassionally it culminates with Robb exclaiming, "Oh my God! We're gonna die!" just as the coaster crests the lift. I think the thing I love most about these videos is that you feel that you the viewer have been invited to ride with a group of friends. Not just being subjected to a ride video that you would rather be riding with your friends. Robb & Elissa have taken the standard POV format and injected it with what it has always been lacking for me. The human element. If pure coaster footage is your bag baby. Then this and RCItR V1 deliver all that and more! Next up, JimmyBo & Friends V2! Guy "Get on it and ride!" Koepp

^^A long time ago Robb hired a midget that looked just like him to follow himself and Elissa around for comedy purposes. Turns out the midget thought he was being exploited for his diminutive stature. Why he would think this, I have no idea. One day at Astroworld, he got real pissed and yelled at Robb. But Robb and Elissa just laughed at his squeaky little voice. The more the midget yelled, the harder they both laughed. Finally he kicked Robb in the ankle and stormed off. Both Robb and Elissa were laughing so hard they didn't see where he went. Rumor has it he got lost in the park and set up camp in a trash bin somewhere. Some folks say he was heard screaming (in his little squeaky voice) as they tore the place down, "Stop! I'm still here! Don't take my home from me! I'm burning! Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!" But the workers just laughed thinking that they had just torched a gift shop with a bunch of squeaky toys in it. Word on the street is that his ghost haunts the parking lot and is rumored to go around kicking people in the ankles. Guy "Oooooooooo Scary!" Koepp

I just had the pleasure of watching CE11, Japanamania! All I can say is, if you like the CE series, then this vid delivers! Lots of fun stuff, interesting coasters and really weird F'ed up rides. Any video where Ryan gets punched in the nuts is a winner in my book! My only disappointment is that he didn't get punched in the nuts enough. Maybe next time Rich can tazer him in the taint. Now that would make for extreme entertainment. I want to take a brief moment to point out Disc 2. Awesome POVs on some amazing coasters! However, the real treat comes when we get to the dark ride POVs. I only have one question. What kind of elicit drugs are these Japanese dark ride designers taking? It's positively amazing some of the weird concepts that emerge from these parks! I absolutely have to get to J-land just to experience some of these rides myself. As great as the video is, I'm sure the camera could never do them justice compared to experiencing the ride live. Oh, and Japan Disney's Pooh totaly drops trou, screams out Hail Marys while unleashing a huge stinky log of a crap on Cal Disney's Pooh! That ride looks amazing! The operating system is like nothing I have ever seen before in my life. Simply astonishing! So all in all, 2 thumbs up! It didn't quite have the subtle nuances of tragic hope, and political satire that "Fisting 17" had, but none the less extremely entertaining! Tomorrow nite RCitR! Vol2! Expect a review! It's 5:15am there. I just asked him if he was planning a Terminator style mission to go back in time and stop Robb from ever giving out his phone number on "In the Loop?" Guy"I have no bad feelings at all about doing this." Koepp -

That was hilarious! I love the fact that you can take any conversation into the toilet! That's a quality I admire. Guy "BUUUUUUFFFFFFEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTT!" Koepp -
Awesome TR (Turkey Report) so far! That Ice exhibit looks incredible! Did they not want you to lick everythng because they were afraid it would all melt or because the colors were toxic? I say that because everything looked like giant snow cones. I would so be trying to lick everything! Your Thanksgiving turkey dinner looked amazing. I hope it was as good to eat as it looked on camera. God I love this time of year. Speaking of which, I think I have a half of a Dutch Apple pie left. Better go take care of that now. Happy Holidays! Say Hi to 'erbody down there in Floruba.

AI was Spielberg's Masterpiece? Did I miss most of his career? What about Schindler's List, JAWS, Saving Private Ryan, The Color Purple, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T., Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Empire of the Sun. I would put all these films before AI. Need I point out that half of them are Fantasy, Alien, and Horror films.

^I agree, it seems very odd, not deliberate. -
^OMG! That film is awesome! Jack Nicholson was showing his awesome acting chops at a tender young age. If you fancy yourself a B-Movie fan, this is a must see flick. Next to anything by Ed Wood, it is one of the best in the business.

White seems like it would stand out in the woods as much as yellow. Why not brown or green? -
I don't remember my first coaster. However, I do remember my first big boy coaster. "Matterhorn!" I still have very fond mammories of it. I say mammories because I was introduced to the wonderful world of breasts on this amazing day. I was able to rest my 7 year old head between my georgeous 15 year old next door neighbors fun bags. My dad thought it was funny that I had stragically placed my head between what he called her "sweater puppies." My first looping coaster was "The Great American Revolution!" at Magic Mountain. I waited 5 hours to ride it in the front seat with 5 train operation on it's opening weekend! I can't believe it's usually a walk on with 1 train opp these days. I still love it and always try to ride it when I'm there.

Is it just me, or did they change the supports to white after the first drop? Hs it always been this way or am I just seeing things? -
Robb Alvey's 30 Pounds in 30 Days - 2008!
Guy T. Koepp replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
Today is going to be a tough day for everybody. Good luck to Robb and everybody on the weight loss bandwagon. I personally may have to add 1 or 2 days back to when sexy returns. Dinner is at 3-4ish pm, Alana and I have been making preparations since yesterday morning. I am making my world famous beer brine rotisserie turkey as well as a hard cider and brownsugar brine ham. They both have been living in their respected liquids since 10am yesterday. At noon the ham will hit the oven for 3 hours and the turkey will be in the rotisserie for 2+hours at 1. I expect by 1:30 the house will be filled with all the sweet smells that accompany this wonderful gluttfest! Happy Turkey day 'erbody! I expect to see you all on the elliptical rider on Friday! -
So my wife dragged me to see the worst film of the last decade. "Twilight." If you enjoy long, dragged out scenes of teens being bored and uber emo moody. Then this is the film you have been waiting for. Absolutely nothing happens for the first 3/4ths of this film except two kids staring blankly at each other. I stepped out for about 5 minutes to go to the restroom. Asking my wife what I missed while I was out, she replied, "They climbed a tree, and stared at each other some more." The dialoguewas poorly written and hard to choke down. It is deliverd with all the nuances of the cast from the Hills. At best this POS should have been a CW movie of the week. Not a good film at all. Guy "The only thing these Vampires sucked was the $14 from my pocket and 2 hours of my life that I will never get back." Koepp
