^^ I love Fantasy Island for a couple hours. They do have a pretty okay water park with a bowl slide, a mat racer, and one other slide tower. Plus Silver Comet is a blast and I love that vertical swing they have there. But given the choice of Marineland and Fantasy Island, I'd prefer Marineland. Sidenote, I think they have the new Polar Splash scheduled to open on July 1st. I know it is predominantly for kids, but the themeing they have on it looks pretty awesome!

in Six Flags' defense, I think rides like the Zamperla Air Race intimidate many guests. I think many quests see all the directions of motion going on with the many plains and they don't think they have a strong enough stomach for it. I think the simple looping motion of the Larson Loops make the ride seem a lot more appealing to the general public. Plus they require less space. I mean, just look at the small amount of space that Discovery Kingdom, St. Louis, and America had to work with for those rides. But yeah, I do hope that Six Flags gets at least ONE of these new Air Races. I could totally see one going to La Ronde, Darien Lake, or maybe they could add it to parks that don't have a Wonder Woman themed ride and theme them like the Invisible Jet. Or I could see something like this going in a new Screampunk District area.

Marineland Discussion Thread
LegendLover replied to beatle11's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Seems like the new family members are maybe looking to shift the focus of the park on to rides and attractions rather than animals. Amusement Insiders just posted a video that showed construction of a new children’s water park area that is well into vertical construction. Plus they have removed the SBNO Topple Tower and when asked about the removal, the park said that they have plans to fill the space. They’ve always halted construction of the new bird enclosure. -
Extinct theme park ride types

Believe it or not, Marineland finally removed the Topple Tower during this past off season! When asked about it, the park said that there are plans to fill in that space. -
I just saw the videos of Firebird. It looks like a great improvement to the ride and the park overall. The colors really pop, the ride looks zippier with the floorless trains, and the area around the ride looks a lot better. I wasn't too much of a fan of the Apocalypse theme, but I love the cleaner look of the area around Firebird. I can't wait to try it out! Good job Six Flags!

One update that I forgot to post the other day and a new one from earlier on the 25th! Galleon is almost complete with work being done to retrofit the old station to be used on this new ride. The colors of both the station and ride match pretty well already! Pieces of The Twister have started showing up onsite! A couple weeks ago, they were beginning to pour the foundations for the new slide, which means that the slide should begin to be erected in the next month!

I'd like to see the hillside for more like a Vekoma family inverted coaster. If they are getting a coaster like a Eurofighter, I want to see it in the space previously occupied by Buzzsaw Falls. It is a pretty flat area right at the front of the park so that the vertical lift would dominate Main Street. I think they should use the hillside for an attraction whenever the park has grown more in that direction. Part of the reason that Zoomerang had low ridership was because it was out in its own corner of the park.

The Crossbow is still listed as for sale on a couple sites, but I agree! I think it would be an excellent step up from the Centi-Speed, but still not as aggressive as Rampage. Crossbow is fun with some hard g forces for a family coaster. It seems like Crossbow and Music Express were not sold yet. I’d love to see those rides come to the park, along with a new Ferris wheel

Hmmm. Take this with a grain of salt, but Screamscape posted about a rumor of a new coaster coming to Alabama Splash Adventure in 2020 or 2021. If i do see a coaster coming either one of those years, I would think maybe 2021. I'm just pretty skeptical. Though then again, the park has been investing heavily into new additions these past couple years (new rides and restaurant in 2016; four new rides, a high dive show, and a new slide complex in 2018; a new ride and two new water slides in 2019). If they were to get a new coaster, I wonder what it about be or even if it would be a more family-thrill oriented coaster or an extreme coaster. I also wonder where they would put it. I think putting it in the former location of Buzzsaw Falls would be a great place for it since that old area is kind of an eyesore, it would be right at the front of the park so it can loom over the main entrance area, and it would round out that area of the park since they could then open up a pathway that connects the area of the new coaster with the area over by Galleon, Jump Around, and Crank'N'Roll. Plus then they could open up a few more stores on Main Street with the increased foot traffic in the area to increase sales and revenue. Whatever they add, I'm sure the community would love it. From all the likes on Facebook, positive comments, and excellent reviews, the place is loved by many families in the Birmingham area. Even "small" additions like new splash pads, more lockers in the waterpark, and new pathways are greatly appreciated by customers in the area.

Galleon will be where the Marvel Mania once was and they'll be utilizing the same station and queue line as the roller coaster. I would love to see another Music Express in the park, but it currently isn't in the plan. Somebody commented on their Facebook post and asked if they planned on adding a Himalaya style ride again, and they said that they currently aren't planning for it, but there's always hope for the future! I actually love the look of the Rock'N'Tug where it is on the old ride pad. I think they made the little area look nice.

Alabama Splash Adventure posted some pictures of the assembly of Galleon. It looks great! I don’t know how old it was at Bowcraft, but it looks nearly brand new. I’m glad that they are keeping the lighting package. It may seem like a small and basic addition, but it is amazing to see the dry park growing. Anything to keep the guests in the park longer, and the three additions this year will definitely keep families in the park longer.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
LegendLover replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Holiday World posted some photos of the construction of the new Merry Marketplace on Facebook earlier. It looks good so far! I'm so glad that they decided to do this update. The old Kringle's Cafe did look pretty dated and in need of an update. Not only will this provide more options in a more modern (and more festive) setting, but it will also provide a large capacity place to go when the temperature gets too high or if it gets rainy in the middle of the day. I like that they've been doing a rotation of additions and renovations to revitalize the different sections of the park over the past couple years: 2014 and 2015 brought something new to Thanksgiving, 2016 brought a huge update on Legend, 2017 brought a new ride to Fourth of July, 2018 brought an update to the water park, and 2019 will be bringing a GREAT renovation to Christmas. -
After seeing the Adventureland announcement of Phoenix, I think that if ASA gets a new steel coaster at any point within the next couple years, I could see them getting a Maurer spinning coaster like Phoenix. That be family friendly, but thrilling. It would also be pretty cheap. A brand new one costs six million, but I think the one from Dixie Landin is still on the market.

Wow! This announcement was out of the blue and I love it! I'm so surprised that they are getting a new coaster so soon after building The Monster. I thought that this park was super charming last time I visited and I'm glad that they are growing and expanding. -
Alabama Splash Adventure posted another update to Facebook! Looks like it will be in the former spot of Marvel Mania! I love the placement of it. It really rounds out that loop of the park. Also, from the looks of the new profile picture, it looks to be that Alabama Splash Adventure is advertising itself as an amusement park AND waterpark once again.
