I perferthe front on Gate Keeper. It is an enjoyable ride wherever you sit, but I really liked the front left wing. -
AGREED! Also Goliath has been having fits lately. I've been at the park the past few days, and it keeps getting stuck on the mid-course. In fact yesterday we were stuck up there for 10 minutes. One of the rideops walked up to us, and started taking names. She was then instructed to press the dispatch button up there and we release about 2 feet an stopped again. This happened two more times, and finally enough of the train was over the hill and gravity took over. They finally gave up and closed the ride (parking the train on the lift half way) about 5 yesterday. I can't see how this is so hard to fix. It's normally old reliable. I found in the past that Goliath sticks up there in the cold weather. If it is happening in the hot summertime, that isn't good. I'm almost at the point where as long as Twisted Colossus, X2, and Tatsu have reasonable lines I only wantto ride those rides with the exception of a first thing Full Throttle ride, and Batman ride. They really need to scrap Green Lantern and put in something different. I would love to see something like Electric Eel in it's place, but would accept a S&S free spin. Green Lantern is just plain horrible.

No way. The non-wheel seats were a good ride on Blue Streak. The first half of Cork Screw is in the discussion for one of the worst 5 rides. Very painful. -
What is your favorite Roller Coaster?
clem2754 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My current top 3 are 3. Maverick 2. Fury 325 1. Steel Vengeance It will be interesting to see if Lightning Rod cracks the top 3 later this summer. -
Look I am just glad that it isn't another Justice League themed ride. You have Riddler's and Justice League in one area separate by the boardwalk area and then Batman/Green Lantern in another area and then you have Superman/Lex Luther Drop of Doom just down the road. Technically Superman is on top of the mountain. Of the course the park isn't as bad as Six Flags Great America. Superman and Dark Knight appear in the front of the park. Joker and Batman in another section and the Justice League way off in another section. I would prefer that they get the correct theming in areas of the park and not show another Justice League themed ride down our throats.

I went the weekend prior to Memorial Day. I fly into Ohio on that Saturday and spent an hour and half at the park and then I spent all day on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday at the park. I stayed at Breakers and I am platinum. I didn't get FL+ and it worked out fine. I ended up with 9 rides on SV, 15 on MF, 11 on Maverick, 12 on Gate Keeper, 8 on TTD, 4 on Valravn, and 9 on Magnum. Monday was the busiest day and the day I got the fewest rides. I can see this being the case in May and June before it gets crowded. If it was a lot more crowded, say in July & early August, then I would budget a day, maybe 2 for FL+. -
I would suggest avoid Saturday. Sunday's are managable. I have gone on plenty of Sunday's and got in a lot of rides. I always goto Full Throttle first and knock it out as it will always have a line and it will always take a while to get through that line. I am a gold member, so I get in the park 10 minutes early and I generally ride it before the gates open. I then goto Goliath. I think Goliath is rather average and I don't really want to wait for it later in the day. It is normally a walk on at this point. I then goto Twisted Colossus and I will ride it until it gets a bit of a line. Sometimes I get 3-4 rides and others it could be 6-8 rides. After TC, I hit up Scream and Bstman. Generally they will have no lines so I can hit them up twice. After that I head over to Riddler's which will have a line. Operations is a little slower on this ride. I generally hit up Justice League as well to break up the rides. It normally takes a little time to get through. Then I either hit up Superman if the line is under 20-30 minutes, or Tatsu if the line is under 30 minutes, or Apocalypse if it is under 30 minutes, I want to be over at X2 between 2:30-4:30 as this is when the line is the shortest. Most people start out with X2 and then come back to it after dinner. Late afternoon has the shortest lines. Sometimes no lines. Also Viper is pretty much a walk on. I find this plan of attack to be the most efficent. I think if you avoid Saturday you should be fine.

Great Park Operations
clem2754 replied to denning's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The crew at Gate Keeper at Cedar Point did a great job last month when I was at the park. I was at the park for 3+ days and rode Gate Keeper 12 times and the operations were incredibly fast each time. They were so much faster than when I rode X-Flight at SFGA and Thunderbird at Holiday World. Millennium Force's crew deserves some credit as well. Rode that 15 times and they were pretty fast as well. -

Do you recommend us using our FL+ on Monday instead of Sunday then? We bought FL+ when they had the good deal over Christmas, so we will use it one of the two days. You should determine it on the day that you are at the park, If the weather looks bad then NO and if you go in for early entry or notice that a major ride is down, then possibly no. It is a day time decision. It will also allow you to estimate the crowds. -

SV waits were 2 hours on a Monday as well?? I'm going this Sunday and Monday and got only FL+ for Sunday, was hoping Monday would be manageable. When I went in May, I was in the park on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday and I found that Monday was more crowded than Sunday. All the days were good in May, but the I got on the fewest rides on Monday. -
It's quite the adrenaline rush! Are they only running with the VR or could you choose to ride without? As someone else said, it's optional. They just had a table set up at the front of the queueline, a lady asked me if I wanted VR or not, and if not I got given a red wristband thing to wear. When I was there, most people I saw chose no VR. It was however slowing down the operations, as the staff were triple checking the VR people were all good before dispatching. VR really slowed down operations at Revolution when they had it on that ride especially the warmer it got. So many issues with the VR. It was brutal.

That's interesting... I was a single rider and was given back row about a month ago. I didn't have an issue either when I asked for the back row as a single rider. -

I almost forgot about those rides like the Edge and Demon Drop. -
Curious what you mean by this... Cedar Fair already invests in Knott's yearly. Also I'm pretty sure Knott's isn't the biggest cash cow. I would leave that to Kings Island, Carowinds, Cedar Point, or Canada's Wonderland (as someone pointed out above) considering they receive "More love" from Cedar Fair (ie, Big Rides, large area updates, both more frequent than Knott's). May be wrong though. From a pure attendence stand point, Knott's is the only Cedar Fair park over 4 million visitors each year. Canada's Wonderland is second over 3.5 million. Cedar Point is approaching 3.5 million, and Kings Island is in the lower 3's. Carowinds has to be around 2.5 million. Now maybe Cedar Point has more revenue from the hotels but from a pure traffic stand point, Knott's is actually #1.

Problem with the website. The times on the site are also not accurate. Some of the rides will be less, and others will be more. It is kind of all over the place, but both of those rides have been operating most of the time this year. -
I'm curious to know, under your definition, what parks--aside from anything Disney and Universal--that do qualify as a "major player". Not trying to be snarky, honestly curious. Disney and universal are THE major players that have brand recognition throughout the world and drive the industry. Knott's falls into what I consider the tier below that---strong regional force, where the attendance is largely made up of locals and neighboring areas (within 6 hour drive). But back to the KBF conversation...Does screamin swing even count as a flat ride if it's an upcharge? The Flyers is a capacity gain compared to that.... so is Cedar Point and Canada's Wonderland considered Regional Parks? Both have less people visiting these parks than Knott's but I am willing to bet they have quite a bit of traffic from around their respective countries. In Cedar Point's case possibly outside the country. My take is this. Disney and Universal are different than Cedar Fair and Six Flags. Disney and Universal are more geared towards the family and flat rides. Cedar Fair and Six Flags are geared towards roller coasters and thrill seekers. Some parks like Busch Gardens and Dollywood toe the line in between. I think Knott's does that as well, but you can tell that Cedar Fair is putting money into this park with Hangtime and another 2020 coaster. These additions are there to make the consumer decide between Disney's California Adventure which is a different type of park than Disneyland. Disneyland is more family and California Great Adventure is more towards the middle. Knott's is a cheaper option, so some people will go to Disneyland and then the second or third day they will do Knott's possibly instead of California Great Adventure. At the end of the day, Knott's is one of the key parks for Cedar Fair and it is nice to see them put these rides into this park.

So what's the point of a single rider line if this is a coaster that has one single row per car? Say you have a group of 4 and a group of 3 and the next group is 3. YOu want to maximize the seats in the train. The single rider allows you to place an 8th rider in that train without breaking up the next group of 3.
