  1. That presumes that the launch system is the problem. That was speculated back in 2016/17 and was refuted by the park and the manufacturer. Yet people still post about making a chain lift and how it would cure all the problems.
  2. Next week? Not likely. I haven't seen any mention of work being done currently. Absolutely ridiculous. What do you suggest they should do then? Run it unsafe? Magically conjure parts for it? Coaster are very customized products. You can't just go to Walmart or Lowe's or even Amazon for parts. They are made to order by small specialized companies. And right now those companies are operating at reduced strength (if open at all). For months you couldn't find toilet paper, even now there are tons of products out of stock with no expected availability. A new product I wa
  3. Oh, too funny. I thought they closed that when they took it off the site.
  4. Same here though not as far. Granted intend to not go during peak summer, opting for less crowded times in spring and fall when I can ride w/o needing TimeSaver.
  5. And they aren't sharing. I can sort of see that from DW given the people that visit their site/outlets and how they would over react. But RMC is more enthusiasts that wouldn't freak out over technical issues that aren't safety issues. I do recall RMC and DW being adamant that the early problems were not the launch system.
  6. I haven't posted on this site in a while but if you're talking about dollywoodwaittimes.com, that's mine. Cool. Any chance of getting the raw data? I assume a simple database and a export wouldn't be hard. Would be interesting for analysis. I would assume location spoofing. Not that hard on Android unless the app works hard to prevent it (like Pokemon Go did) Similar could be done in a computer and the website (which used to list wait times anyway).
  7. Obviously appropriate dress is helpful. Shoes that won't get/stay soggy, pants & shirts that dry quickly. Does SDC have a dryer nearby? DW has one near the rapids ride and (I think) the log flume. They had one near the water battle too.
  8. Why I'd like to see an analysis. Actual data vs anecdotal. Maybe even find a pattern, as to how long between break downs and how long it's down. I'm sure DW/RMC has that but they aren't sharing. The wait times page has it's flaws, but it all we have. Does anyone known who owns the site? Are they on this site?
  9. Looking at the wait times linked earlier it's much better than 50/50. Not as good as it should be, but still better than 50/50. Look at Jun-Aug. Down 3 of 16 days from Jun 15-30, 80% up for the day. A bit of down time some days. July looked similar (haven't counted). Then a big problem early August (down 5th, up 14-17, then down since) Would be nice if the dataset could be downloaded and analyzed.
  10. Next week? Not likely. I haven't seen any mention of work being done currently. I think they are waiting on parts. It would be nice if DW or RMC would give some info on what was being done and a timeline for repair. Like if they have to wait for something to be manufactured and the supplier is backlogged due to the shudowns.
  11. I got that. (Hence the "I see" statement) Doubt the person asking about rides closed for winter would have though. As was my quip about it "always" being closed. Just checked and noticed there were some nuances on the web view vs Tapatalk. Like Bill's comment about it will be is in small print, while TT shows no indication of that. But fine, he can be snarky ("it WILL totally be closed") but I can't. Somewhat? 4.5-5 hours. I certainly don't wake up one morning, run to DW, then come home. It's at least a long weekend, normally a week long trip, and planned a month in adva
  12. The same one that's closed for Spring, Summer and Fall events. (It's a joke... though it WILL totally be closed) I see. That's an assumption. LR could be back up by mid Nov. For a ride that's "always" closed I've ridden it a lot. So many I've lost count.
  13. Well... there's one Which? What coaster is closed for the winter Thanksgiving/Christmas events. I've ridden ever coaster in the park in December.
  14. All weather dependent. None are specifically closed for Christmasn (unlike Six Flags that shuts down sections of the park). Only the water rides close when the weather cools off.
  15. I recall some work done in another spot earlier this year. But I suspect this got bad enough to shutdown and fix. May have been considers a safety issue. Probably waiting on RMC to make the needed parts. With all the shutdowns and restrictions RMC could be backlogged so it could be a while.
  16. Cool. Good to see them passing such info. Now if only there was info on why and how long they expect it to be down.
  17. The only time I recall and ride closure info on the website was the first year (maybe 2nd?) of LR and the warning it was likely to be closed. Never seen other ride status for LR or any other ride on the website. Not closures waiting for parts or other work. Are you saying the Monday after you were there they did change the website to indicate LT was closed?
  18. At least they finally updated the info. Emails previously said not on thrill rides but then people reported that not being the case. I didn't see an email with the policy change. Doesn't matter to me either (not going with any mask requirements), but setting correct expectations is important.
  19. Cool. Didn't check over the weekend and there wasn't any discussion of LR being down for a while here.
  20. Well as an example.. then later mentions hearing that twice on TT and once on TH.
  21. LR was back open? Reports on FB were it had been closed for a week+. Claims about track work.
  22. That's not what was being reported earlier in this thread.
  23. While I won't be riding any rides with a mask on (or visiting any park requiring them) I certainly wouldn't worry about moving a mask around during the ride. If it moves, so be it. Further evidence of the futility of a mask on the ride. The mask is already detracting from the ride, sure not going to mess it up even more fighting to keep a mask on just right. You should probably reserve your judgement on riding with a mask until you’ve actually experienced it. Personally, I forget that I’m even wearing the mask. The experience feels no different that normal. When I ride a coaster my

  25. Well it was after 9pm. I got the email around 3pm yesterday but didn't see it until later. I was on FB looking for info on the chain/MM and saw it posted there.
