  1. There are two mechanisms to carry the train up the lift: The chain dog that sits inside the chain that actually pulls the train, and the anti-rollback dog which creates the clack-clack-clack...they are on the left and right side of that slide respectively, so there's really no need for the middle.
  2. ^Well yes, that's what I suggested. But I didn't say other rides don't have problems, just that Intamins have more.
  3. How did I in any way suggest that no other ride has problems?
  4. I was there the same day, and yes the ride was having problems, but I was expecting that the whole time seeing as it was built by Intamin. The ride seemed to be running ok for the day, but as all others have stated, operations are quite slow. I have a feeling I only think so because I am spoiled by the operations at Cedar Point, but it did seem like they were just intentionally being lazy. Even after checking seats, they took unnecessary time to dispatch the train. The whole load/unload on the same side is really retarded. I didn't really find any problem with the bins, either. They were just different; and I could see how they would confuse a typical stupid guest wandering through the park on a Saturday, so maybe the drop boxes will be better. As for the ride...!!!!!!!! Wow! The lift is absolute insanity. I watched it all day and still couldn't believe it was going so fast. And the drop...the shape is just bizarre. It's like a good floating drop until the end when you are kicked out of your seat. Of course afterward you are stapled like no other, but other than that, the rest of the ride was great! The speed was phenomenal, the airtime was almost too much, but it was still stunning! The twists and turns, especially in the outer seats, really whip you around. I found myself latching onto the grab bars because I almost flew out the side of my seat. The last turn was the only part of the ride that seemed a little sluggish, but after that much insanity, it was nice to have a smooth little turn. Unfortunately after that, thanks to operations, I had to sit in the train that was bruising my thighs for another 3 minutes...it was hilarious to hear the whole train moan in relief once the lap bars were released. If this ride had clamshells, it would easily be unbeatable.
  5. ^Well I've heard people refer to whatever seat they prefer as the "magic seat"...whether near the front or the back...but usually people prefer a seat in the front of a car. No idea why.
  6. I feel like the complaints about Skyrush are the same opinions that follow Intamin's newer generic OTSRs; that it staples further as you ride and it painfully crushes your thighs...I think the restraints themselves are a good idea to accommodate larger guests, and I don't mind the hydraulic locking mechanism, but they are focusing on just the upper thighs, whereas I think the idea of holding the entirety of the legs down is a better option, i.e. B&M hypers. I personally think the clamshells are the exactly perfect shape for a coaster restraint. Rather than leaning toward minimalistic design, they form around the body and create more contact points, which reduces individual pressure points. I think Intamin needs to go in that direction; being a skinny person, I get hurt with any type of Intamin restraint because I have no natural cushioning... I'm riding on Thursday so I'll form opinions then
  7. What are these 'non-wheel' seats on Mean Streak people keep talking about? The cars have 4 wheels, two in front, two in back...I suppose the seat isn't directly above the wheel, but that doesn't really solve much unless they are 6 car seats...it's still a rough ass ride, in my opinion. The parts they retracked are smoother, but that's not the problem people are complaining about. It's the places that haven't been retracked that kill brain cells.
  8. ^^^Yeah, nobody has really said much about "slowing things down." The lines last however long they will last, there are just a few people jumping in every once in a while. If 100 people jump you in fast lane while you are waiting, that only adds 6 trains to your wait, which at Dragster is 3 dispatches, adding around 8 minutes to your wait. That's not that much. It's not like an hour line is being extended to a 2 hour line...
  9. Nope, live in Colorado from August to May...thanks for clearing that up though!
  10. Is anyone even sure that is the cable's speed? They could be running over-speed tests, you never know...
  11. YEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!! Oh man I love this news so much! This park is in dire need of something different.
  12. EDIT: Photos have been removed Closeup of stage construction Maintenance doing what they do... Power Tower is receiving some new parts... ...not sure where they go or what they are though. Dragster is READY TO GO!! (yes I did) This year, Blue Train is the parts bitch and Gold train will be operating! Gold train fans rejoice! Power tower's line has been completely moved to over by by Super Himalaya... ...and the previous entrance is cemented and covered with a bench. New boxes that hold your stuff You will see this screen I am guessing this was Magnum's freeway entrance? It is being transformed into the new Fast Lane entrance. There are also dinosaurs at every entrance! new entrance to Dinosaurs Alive And new bridges to the island There are these yellow lines all over the midways near Gemini...I think they are for vehicles, but it seems kind of silly... New wood! From where I was sitting, I could spot 48 trash cans, and I was up against a building with only 180 degrees of view Another update some people may like. Mine ride is NOT using Gemini trains this year. Not sure if that's news, but I am reiterating it either way. "No Gemini trains in here...just us Mine Ride trains" More Wildcat deconstruction from the other side I think there's something missing here..... Looks as though they started taking it down just this week...hmmm wonder why The entire Millennium lift has been painted. I thought they would be working in the opposite direction, but the first airtime hill is still not painted... Closeup. It looks real purdy in person! The new paint goes to this joint, which is just after the first overbanked turn where the track switches from 4 rail to 3 rail before the tunnel. I always wonder why they are painting over the white lining, because the wheels are just tearing the paint off anyway...oh well. This is the new Fast Lane entrance for Millennium. It is on the other side of Panda Express, and will walk riders under the station to the other side behind the control booth. The front seat line has been altered inside the station so that the fast lane line goes right behind it into the middle of the station. This does mean the front seat line is much shorter. This is where fast lane guests will travel. Basically it's the old emergency exit from the station They will see the underside of the station If you're a dork like me, this amuses you. This is the gate mechanism. Gemini is receiving a completely new path for its fast lane entrance Along with some new decals apparently...either that of they are just removed for now. ...and some new wood! I am not sure what this is for, it is a path that leads behind Dragster's l0ckers, underneath dragster and into the forest. At first I thought it would be the exit for Dinosaurs Alive, but I think it is elsewhere... This is where it goes under Dragster... ...and disappears... This is over under Iron Dragon on the Top Thrill Dragster midway. This is what I think will be Dinosaurs Alive's exit, since it is heavily themed. Also for those wondering about the marks by DT, they have installed an elevator. They have made many more rides in the park handicapped accessible as well. Dragster's new Fast Lane gate
  13. ^^I love how his kid breaks out in tears because he is just tall enough to ride Wildcat, when, if is child is 48", he should be way more excited to ride Magnum, Millennium, Gemini, Corkscrew, even Blue Streak...?
  14. -CF Platinum pass -Six Flags season pass (SFA) -Elitch Gardens season pass
  15. There are too many mixed sources at the moment to really be sure about any of this...someone will have to report back this coming week
  16. ^I was referring to the post I was pointing to, which only mentioned the B&M coasters with V seating. And I have worked at a B&M coaster before, so I know that these problems exist. They may not be caused by people here who have experience riding them; however, when working at a B&M coaster with stupid people from the GP doing whatever they want, there are problems that arise. I am also not saying they are common problems, but they do happen. In my opinion, I think Skyrush will have these problems due to the outer seats being a more extreme experience; and people who are scared to ride coasters in the first place will choose the least scary seat right off the bat.
  17. ^With it being mentioned that they get "choice of seats, first come first serve" I would imagine it is exit access, since there is no choice using the freeway lanes.
  18. ^Actually, no. The B&Ms load from 2 separate gates.
  19. ^^^^I agree, Robb. Some people like feeling speed and wind through their hair etc...and some people go more for forces: +g, -g, acceleration, inversions... I am more of a 'forces' person myself. I will love coasters tall, short, fast, slow, with/without inversions, out and back, twister...as long as it is interesting. As far as the length of Leviathan goes, the time from lift top to brake in that video (not sure on the load) is 55ish seconds, which I would not consider short for a roller coaster, and my feeling is that if there was more done with it, it would seem too long and uninteresting. Not to mention B&M coasters tend to be more expensive than say Intamin, seeing as Millennium Force is 1000 feet longer and cost $3M less. MF is only around 10 seconds longer anyway... I have found that some things I don't think will be interesting on a coaster actually really surprise me, such as the first time I rode Magnum. It looks kinda dull and repetitive, but WOW! And similarly, I have found that some things I thought would be really exciting turned out to be boring or just lame to me, like the first time I rode a Premier spaghetti bowl coaster (FoF, Joker's Jinx, etc...). I am thinking that Leviathan as a whole doesn't really have anything that will stand out to me as a coaster enthusiast, but I bet it will be a really fun ride nonetheless, and I'm not going to skip it when I visit just because the airtime isn't good enough or the track isn't long enough. This.
  20. I think that the original post had nothing to do with "will they load the winged seats from different rows?" Hopefully we all understand that has been covered and complained about several times...I don't think it was understood as the post was a bit unclear, and I think the long posts bashing people not using the search function are starting to get more annoying and unnecessary than the actual posts; even though the last part of the post was funny. What I'm sure Jay20016 was actually trying to say is something I have been considering myself. If a group of 2 and a group of 2 are in the same line and the first group of 2 takes the middle seats, the next group will walk up and say "aww we can't sit together." I know having worked at a B&M coaster that some people of the GP have a strange unwillingness to move to outer seats, and I feel the floorless nature of the outer seats on Skyrush will make them that much more unwilling to sit in them. A more common concern is getting to sit next to the person you are riding with, and seeing as the two inner seats are more 'next to each other' than middle/outer seats, I can see how people would just plop themselves down in those two seats right away and not care about another group of 2 who want to sit together.
  21. I love how they (for the most part) buried the footers. It makes the theme much more well-rounded without awkward gray boxes in the sand.
  22. ^You have to take into consideration that you are judging from a youtube video, and you have no idea what the lights look like in person. For all you know they could be extremely bright relative to opening year. Compared to last year, this is a huge improvement so I don't see anything to complain about. The park's going to be alive with color and light again! p.s. does anyone know if the MF paint job was continued this off season?
