Free water? Next thing you know guests will be wanting things like shade and clean restrooms. It's a slippery slope. Haha yes I suppose I should know better since this is SFMM. I guess I don't know how good I have it at Hersheypark, we get free 8oz and sometimes free 24oz waters throughout the park. I think it might be a Pennsylvania law, I believe Dorney has it too, saves quite a bit of money throughout the season They were joking lol, SFMM gives out free water everywhere as does everywhere else in California, as it's a law here as well. That's actually not true. No law exists that says a restaurant must provide water in California.

As someone who isn't a Star Wars nerd, I just hope they avoid the Potter method of storytelling where you will only truly get everything if you know the story going in. I have no doubt the scenic and whatever rides come will be amazing. As a side note, I would really love to see a unique land built again in the states, but I don't see that happening anytime soon because there is so much more money to be made in bringing an existing brand to life rather than trying to build a new brand.

As one of those doubters (though I don't think anymore really "laughed" at you), count me as someone very curious to see what the extent of any track work is. I don't doubt that the ride has endured more stress than the average B&M, but for a whole ride as large as Hulk to have reached the point of needing to be replaced...makes me wonder what exactly is the breaking point of a B&M ride. I know when I worked at SFMM a long time ago, they were constantly welding the top of the loop, so it really makes me wonder what's going to be next for B&M.

Scare LA 2015 coverage!

^Dark Harbor definitely offers the most value of any of the So Cal haunts. Great talent to go along with a great setting. I will also second Dallas comments that any haunt fan in so cal should check out ScareLA. You get coupons for all the local haunts, get to mingle with the creative minds and talent from all those haunts, experience all the mini haunts, hear the panels, and there are all sorts of vendors to help you complete your Halloween costume. -
If they were to charge what the experience is actually worth (considering the amount of space and staff it requires), it would cost as much as the ticket to the event did. I appreciate that Knott's is willing to go all in trying something completely different and unique AND keep it free. If they got rid of a scare zone AND 2 mazes to make it work, I'm glad I can still experience it for free! Plus, the only performers I miss from Haunt over the last 10 years are Jeff Putz, Ed Alonzo, and the improv troupe. Problem is that it was nearly impossible to see all the shows and experience all the mazes in one night, so it actually makes sense to refine the entertainment options.

People are going to compare it to Frozen no matter what. I also have no doubt that Frozen is what led him down the path to research old Norse legends. However, the maze isn't designed as a parody. He wanted to try scary maze with high contrast colors (which has been typically left to the 3D parody mazes), so the snow setting is a natural fit. The Disney jabs have typically been left to the Hanging (which is actually co-written by a Disney performer) now that their entertainment has been cut down to just the Hanging and Elvira (the improv show always had Disney jabs as well---and they were all Disney performers as well).

^I'm glad Infected isn't an upcharge. They took away an entire scare zone AND space for two mazes to make it fit. That's too much real estate to charge for. As far as Dead of Winter goes, I'm not so sure it is trolling Frozen. Gus said as much at the panel, saying that the source material goes back to the same Norse legends from long ago. Gunslingers with werewolves sounds like they found old Red Moon Massacre masks in warehouse P and needed to repurpose them. Not excited about that (I always thought the premise of having a maze about the wild west when you already have Ghost Town was silly in the first place---but at least the sets are nice).

There's lots: 1. Deja Vu's spot+Slingshot Spot+re-developing that whole back area (I know that would technically count as removing a ride, but it's a freaking carnival ride that was most likely brought in to make some extra money until that spot could be re-used anyways...doesn't really count) 2. The Batman stunt show theater isn't being used for a show 3. Flashback/old metro maintenance space still hasn't been utilized 4. Picnic area (if they went with that option, I imagine they would utilize the Flashback space as a new picnic area that can be dual use for Hurricane Harbor and SFMM) 5. Many backstage buildings are trailers...shifting around things backstage would open up space behind Scream

Good to know. I would had thought that Tuesday and Wednesday of that week will be less busy than Friday. Are we talking so dead that TC will be a walk-on all day? We're talking so dead that you can walk on to every ride in the park including TC, X2, and YOLO all day from opening to closing as many times as you want. Buried somewhere in this thread from several years back is a photo TR from that day showing all the midways just completely empty. It is also a Honda ERT early entry day, with TC and Scream as the coasters. I will be there! oh how i miss those years long ago when they kept daily operation thru september. usually, only half to two thirds at the very most of the first section of parking lot was used. more people at costco at any given time. That has to do with school calendars changing so much. Most local schools start in mid August now.

By the literal definition of innovative, almost every ride built qualifies as "innovative" in some way. My point was that within the amusement industry, I think of the term "innovative" to mean something truly ground breaking. in my opinion, the manufacturers you listed are just doing a good job building off existing concepts. It's technically innovation, but nothing that is really going to change the industry (with the exception being rmc---they've turned their concepts into the next big thing in the industry)
