  1. I can't wait to ride it in 16 days!
  2. The areas (countries) don't all open at once. When we went, Festa Italia was the next to last area to open at 10:30 a.m, IIRC. So you'll want to check the schedule before you try to rush to Tempesto first. I'm pretty sure it was on the park map we picked up at the entrance. We ate at the Trapper's Smokehouse in New France and the $16 sampler was enough for my daughter and I. In our limited experience on an overcast Wednesday in August, the only terrible lines were for Invadr and Verbolten. I stayed on Griffon for 7 laps at one point. We got so many coaster rides that we actually did the Skyride and the train just to take a break.
  3. Iron Rattler last December with the offspring.
  4. Just an FYI, I checked with Carowinds and you can only pitch one tent, even though they give you a 12' x 12' space. If you take 4 people, you're going to need a big tent. edited to add: The $250 price includes dinner, breakfast buffet, late night snack, ERT on Fury 325 and Copperhead Strike, and two full days admission to Carowinds and parking. Not really a bad deal for non-passholders/meal plan owners if you take 4 people.
  5. It says ALL proceeds benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Softens the blow. If we have 4 people, it will be $62.50 each, mostly for perks we already get. It's more about the experience, really. This being NC, it could be 40° or 90° in April, though.
  6. Can't wait for this! I'll be there March 22-23. Also planning a week long trip to Florida in April and finishing up at Coaster Campout at Carowinds April 26-27. It's not much of a bargain, since we have platinum passes and meal plan, but the cool factor of camping out in a park and 1.5 hours of ERT on Copperhead Strike after park close should make it a cool experience. Anybody else ever done this one?
  7. Nice! I love retro arcade games. So glad there is a barcade less than .75 from my house. And I loved playing Indiana Jones back in the day at my local arcade. "Soon Kali Ma will rule the world."
  8. How often is the southern gate open? And does it ever open early enough for ERT? It is a lot closer to Copperhead Strike. I went six times last year and I never even checked to see if it was open.
  9. ^^I would assume the cost of mounting the panels that high is far higher than clearing some land and putting them in low. Maintenance would be more work as well.
  10. I used Google Maps to look up the proximity of Intimidator 305 to Volcano. And I noticed someone has been messing with coaster names again. Intimidator 325 Also saw The Fury 325, The Millennium Force, Afterbrup (sic), and Invertino (KI)
  11. It's a shame the live cam is so bad at Carowinds. Would love to watch when this thing starts testing.
  12. Other than the MCBR trying to readjust my spine, I thought Titan was great. It was my daughter's second favorite from our Texas trip, after Iron Rattler. I'd put it several notches lower, but I thought it was enjoyable enough for multiple re-rides..
  13. You would probably need to contact Cedar Point to be sure. I renewed my platinum pass online. I will be visiting my home park first this year. That said, there is no date on my pass and my home park website website says not to throw away the current one. I assume this will be my pass as long as I keep renewing. If you are traveling from overseas, definitely get clarification from CP or CF first. From Carowinds site: RENEWALS: Do not discard your current Season Pass once you renew. Also this is under the auto-renew FAQ at CP's website: Do I need to go through Season Pass processing each year I auto-renew? After your Season Pass is automatically renewed, just keep your card and enjoy the park the following season. There is no need to visit the Season Pass Processing Center.
  14. This may not be your thing, but I am excited about my new 4K camera (Panasonic Lumix G7). That's Kyle Petty on the left. It was a songwriter song swap kinda set. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  15. It is the same. https://www.cedarpoint.com/blog/2018-early-entry-rides Does Raptor ever open a little early? I'm pretty sure I rode Maverick, Millennium Force, Valravn, and Raptor in that order during early entry on my first day last year. I can't imagine it took me an hour to ride Maverick, MF, and Valravn once each, which were all walk-on or less than 5 minute wait. The second day I just lapped Maverick over and over during ERT, as it is the best coaster in the park.
  16. Whirligig Woods Baranick was trying to build in the Saxapahaw area. The locals didn't want it and he couldn't find investors. Real estate anywhere near RTP is going to be really expensive. Anywhere between Raleigh and Greensboro would have the population to support a small park, but the NIMBY is strong here. If you go east of Raleigh with a park, I think you lose a lot of potential customers. Could this area support a small park? I think so. Will anyone ever be able to build one? Doubtful.
  17. Responding to video of Firehawk dismantling:
  18. They are doing a facebook live video right now walking around Copperhead Strike.
  19. Every time I read someone's answers that DON'T say that Phoenix is their favorite bird coaster, I cry on the inside. You're right. I put Raptor because I couldn't remember any real bird theme other than the name for Phoenix. Then I realized couldn't remember any bird theme for Raptor either. I just left it as is. I guess Wild Eagle would fit. Those trains are awesome and it is a 'wing' coaster. I assumed coasterbill was referring to the 2:1 preference for Maverick.
  20. At this point in the thread, Maverick leads Millennium Force by a tally of 32 to 17. Carry on.

Name the first totally middle-of-the-road (not bad/not great) park that comes to mind. Six Flags America 14. You're in Orlando and magically have a 1-hour ERT session on 1 coaster of your choice at any park in the city. You choose... Mako 15. Holiday In The Park vs. Winterfest. Who reigns supreme? As a coaster person, HITP blows Winterfest out of the water 16. Mystic Timbers mystery shed or Wicker Man fire infusion? Wicker Man (shed was kind of lame) 17. Since Mystic Timbers is 109 feet, I gotta go with EL Toro. 35. Have you ever been hit with something (loose change/a tree/vomit/etc) while riding something? On an amusement park ride? No. 36. Skywarps: credits or no? State your case. No. It's just a Larson looper with a twist. It rolls but does not coast. 37. Turkey legs: nah or yaaaaassssss? Absolutely yaaaaaassssss! Mostly from Harmony Hall at Carowinds 38. What is the most recent B&M that you rode? The Great White SWSA 39. (DO IT!) Iron Rattler!
  22. The people I know who have dealt with them convinced me to be hyper-vigilant. I have friends who were eaten up by bed bugs with bites all over. They were miserable. I knew someone who thought they had gotten rid of all of them, only to take some home and face extensive measures to get rid of them. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Search Google images for 'bad bed bug bites'.
  23. It may be a wild card in 2019, unlike the Steelers.
