  1. Man, Scandanavian parks rock!!! I love those "aerial" photos from the last update, and this update is pretty cool too. Although I liked the last one more because it has Intamin inverted coaster goodness. Random question: how many gropes total were there on this trip? 24? 57? Albert "resists the urge to tell people to email Dan if they know the answer" Lam
  2. Sounds like if you go to it expecting a carnival, it'll be a nice park. If you come to it expecting a theme park, then you'll be sorely disappointed.
  3. I don't really have a problem with the volume. The only issue is that the segments aren't always normalized, so sometimes, there may be a sudden spike in noise because the music for the previous segment was softer than the music of the current one. Nothing hugely distracting though; just noticeable. Anyway, Robb, I deeply apologize for nothing having put in my review yet. It's been an insanely busy couple of weeks with work, getting ready for school and study abroad, architecture internship stuff, and a whole bunch of other things. I will try to get it up asap!
  4. bwahahahahaa!!! http://www.sexpo.com.au/sextrain.html I love the pics they have: LAYOUT http://www.sexpo.com.au/images/548716.gif The ride features several sex related scenes inside. People taking the ride are seated in one of 6 carriages that are decorated to look like Gerbils (a small furry creature). “There is simply nothing else like this in the world and it will be making its world premiere in Perth,” notes Sexpo founder and organiser - David Ross. Club X SEXPO is being held at the Perth Centre from Thursday May 4 to Sunday May 7. SO WHAT’S INSIDE? The sex train has been custom built for an adult audience and features life-like robots – as you’ve never seen robots before. In some respects the ride will resemble the “Ghost Train” you see at the local amusement fair, but similarities end there. Some may find the experience stimulating and even confronting. Some may find it controversial – and the name of the ride and the passenger’s mode of transport is also likely to stir controversy. So what will Sydney residents see inside? Scene One: Male/Female sex scene Scene two: Voyeur theme Scene three: Female in a Love Swing Scene four: Male solo scene Scene five: Female domination theme Scene six: Female sex scene Scene seven: Male/Female sex scene Scene eight: Male ‘Bobbit’ scene (inspired by John and Lorena Bobbitt) Scene nine: ‘Dildos in the darkness’ scene A quarter of a million dollars has been spent getting the Sex Train ready for its first ride, and it is destined to travel internationally. It is a world first, it is an Australian design “The ride will be inside the Sexpo event – which is adults only. Just pasting this. I'm sure most have clicked the link to see it already.
  5. Aww... why does Japan always get the smoother versions of rough coasters? Cool report. This reminds me of how amazed I was when I saw X for the first time, with new paint and all that supportwork. I find the supports on 4D coasters to be particularly interesting. So massive and bulky and overdone (in appearance at least). Very cool!
  6. lol the whole idea of a coaster finally being fully themed 23 years after the fact just slays me
  7. Well, that's obviously a very incomprehensive list, because I can tell you that there's one in Starcade at Disneyland. So I'm pretty darn sure there's more than just two in America. Or three. Heck, I'm sure there's gotta be at least a few dozen. But man. The sheep!! The inflatable sheep!!!
  8. wow, amazing what a little bit of theming can do even for a generic clone! Imagine if they did a remodel job for like... X.
  9. I think you totally missed the fact that he was satirizing the typical news media articles about these things. Anyway, sucks for this man, but if he had a heart attack, then it's possible he knew about a pre-existing condition. If not, even more tragic. But it happens. Either that or Wes is right, and the coaster rattled his heart out of its arteries...
  10. Recently, I went to SFMM and rode Psyclone. PART I: We were next to get on, but as the train came back, everyone was in pain. In particular, some pretty cut twentysomething year olds (the type you wouldn't think would act wussy) came off half in pain, half in comic disbelief, groaning about how that hurt, and how they'll never ride it again. Pretty funny stuff. PART II: I ride and tape the ride. When I get off, the ride op looks at the camera in my hand and the pain on my face (I'd taken one for the team by riding in order to get a person who'd never ridden the ride but had heard about it onto the coaster), then bursts out laughing, realizing I'd captured the painfest on film. For the record, a ride on Psyclone usually goes like this. Funniest ride moment? How about the ending to The Scary Adventure of Snow White at Disneyland? Most. Abrumpt. Ending. Ever. Those who have been on it and know how the Disney movie goes would agree, I think. Three summers ago, I was working at Knott's, on Supreme Scream. One night, about an hour and a half before closing, on a slow night, my friend and I were messing around in dispatch with various spiels. While the tower went up, we'd switch the mic over to the queue line and do sillys things like the horror movie "CH-CH-CH-CH.. CHA CHA CHA CHA..." scary sound effects thing, and the like. Well, at somepoint, I got the idea to start saying random things. So three kids come running through the line, and I use my best "Mr. Announcer Guy" voice to say "We're sorry, Supreme Scream has closed for the night. Please feel free to enjoy our other world-class attractions here at Knott's Berry Farm." The kids literally screech to a halt in their tracks, panic, and turn around and sprint out of the line as though they'd been caught trespassing! My friend and I pretty much fell out of our seats at that, considering the fact that if the ride was closed, they wouldn't have been able to get into the line in the first place. I did so many hilarious spiels that summer. My hour in dispatch was always my favorite part of the shift (or two hours if I rotated around again before my day was over), so I made full use of it. I would try to have a different spiel every cycle, so that aside from the standard safety part, no two announcements were the same.
  11. Yeah. McDonalds had received numerous complaints before that incident, complaining that their coffee was too hot. Turns out they were serving it about 20-30 degrees hotter than what they needed to (I think that was the count). So instead of 120* it was more like 150* Micky D's had refused to change the temperature of their coffee, but when that woman spilled it on her... crotch region... that was the last straw. It took that lawsuit to get them to lower their coffee temperature back down to normal. Anyway, this SoB incident is legit too. The riders didn't cause the accident or ignore signs. The ride itsel had a flaw and caused the injuries. Every rider has the utmost reason to file a lawsuit again Paramount and Cedar Fair (new owners of the park, hence that's why they're included, as others have mentioned). So in this case, I agree with the riders. Even if one of them is convinced the train "jumped the track... that's a fact."
  12. still awaiting my copy, but I'll definitely post review asap once I get it. EDIT: Lo and behold, I get home and there it is!!
  13. Yeah. Nothing like hot hairy ass to get the juices flow--oh geez, I couldn't finish that with a straight face. Anyway, this marks the third message board I've seen with a bot problem. There was a bot that posted on Westcoaster, and we've also been dealing with them over at New Element. We haven't had as many lately, but somehow, they were able to get past the security number code thing you need to type in when you register (the image with six funky looking numbers and letters), and some may have even gotten past the email validation we put in later. And for those who still haven't understood: SPAM THREAD = blatant advertisement, often for items not even remotely related to the content of the site, using language similar to that found in Spam E-Mails. Often, the post doesn't even match the topic of the forum it's in. WC's example (altho it actually happened to be posted in the right forum here... Trust me, guys, it's obvious.
  14. It looks like a pretty big building. I vote for another indoor coaster. I don't care about it not making sense; I want another credit.
  15. Ditto that! Magnificent photoshopping! That was absolutely awesome!
  16. Yeah. That Guy is awesome. Wes, I'm gonna have to disagree here. That video, to me, had so much potential, but didn't quite hit it. It could have been absolutely awesome, but it came off a little too forced for my liking. Just my two cents, tho.
  17. 1. 1955 opening of Disneyland 2. 1950s, the heyday of the Long Beach Pier, complete with Cyclone Racers 3. Ride the Crystal Beach Cyclone just to see how it stacked up. 4. Coney Island parks in their 1920s heyday 5. 1971 opening of Walt Disney World 6. Knott's Berry Farm back in the early 90s... simply because I have really fond memories of the park back when it didn't totally suck ass.
  18. You put Robb's ass in there and I will DEFINITELY vote you last. (don't bother putting your own either ) I have a shot of Elissa's butt crack somewhere. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . That'll do...
  19. You're sure you're not getting "moaning about coasters in Japan" confused with "groaning about Togo coasters in the United States," right? Just wondering, since I've seen very little complaining of Japanese coasters, although I admit I'm prolly not here as much as most people.
  20. You put Robb's ass in there and I will DEFINITELY vote you last. (don't bother putting your own either )
  21. can't really comment since I've only been to one six flags, but I always thought SFMM's Gothan City Backlot was one of the park's highlights in terms of the amount of effort and theming put into it. Ahhh, the good ol' days back when the park still cared. It's particularly impressive when compared to their recent installations.
  22. If I was a ride op, I'd yell back "How does a money making park that has been successful with a consistent demographic get put on the auction block even though it has a bunch of great rides that still draw people into the park????" Of course, I'd never work at SFMM (too far), so I can actually make up this hypothetical situation. Anyway, besides their not caring, chances are that they run only one side because that's all they need to. The coaster barely has a line as it is, and if they ran two sides, they'd have a lot of boring time with the ride ops doing nothing, because no one's in line. That's a waste of salary, if you think about it from the park's side of things.
  23. Well, they'll be fighting slightly more extreme heat, but when I worked at Supreme Scream at Knott's (no shade for the ops unless you're at the dispatch room), I'd keep myself plenty hydrated by drinking a LOT of water. I'm talking about a LOT. Once summer got sizzling, I'd drink half a gallon of water a day at least, and some days, I'd get up to 3/4 of a gallon of water. We'd fill up on the 32 oz cups of ice water at the employee lunch room and bring them back. Come next break, it was another refill. So yeah, hope that little part helps. Kinda common sense, but I just wanted to talk about how much water we drank.
  24. wow, I expected the "Don't Look Down" video to compete a lot higher, but I can't complain too much, because it might have knocked my vid out of the TPR top five! Much love to Robb and Elissa for organizing this, and to all the judges for the apparently flattering votes. For me, it was either Paul Ruiz or the "Don't Look Down" vid, so I'm definitely not bummed about the winner. Congratulations to everyone who entered! Now I gotta start wracking for ideas for next year's contest! YAY! EDIT: Hmmm... Runners Up get two TPR vids of their choice... now I gotta see if I'm actually missing any of the vids! They're prolly the coaster footage vids from the first couple of seasons or something. Or maybe I'll ask for a DVD version of the two TPR vids I have on VCR... haha, this definitely cheered me up.
  25. times like these, I wish I was a billionaire who could indulge by buying a theme park.
